Watch on 1.5 or 2.0 speed if you must, but don't skip this video. in fact, share it with as many beautiful black women as you deem necessary! EDIT: If you comment that I should skip this kind of content, you didn't watch the whole video.
As always, I'd love to hear your responses, but comment "AMEN" if you will join me in rebuking this lie every time you see it come up (whether in your heart or online).
AMEN!! I try not to tell black women what to do, but I hate the lies, excuses, and negativity. There’s nothing wrong with our natural hair, especially 4c hair. It’s beautiful. Texturism is the final frontier in our community, and we shouldn’t be afraid to hold black women accountable for the part we play in it.
We lost our lives for a long time. I am 52 years old and me listening to young women like you makes me feel ashamed. I am learning to love ❤️ my hair at this age. I wish we had more women like you when we were growing up. Much love 🥰 to you.
🥹🥹🥹🥹Awwww you darling! Don’t feel ashamed at all!!! Our community has been through a lot and unfortunately without a message to go against the programming, we simply accept the programming. The beauty is, with each generation, we’re waking up more and more! And see, inspite of it all, you are already righting the wrongs of the past by learning to love your hair in this present day! That means so much to me! 🥹 thank you 🙏🏾
Love to hear and see the message! I don’t have 4c hair but definitely type 4 kinky and i hate the rhetoric they spread too. Others take it in and drink it up while some of us are actively trying to work against it. ❤
Thank you for sharing these thoughts. Growing up I was teased terribly because of hair. It was not until I was in my 30s when I learned to love my texture and get rid of my experience with my hair as a child. I love this message.😊
Yes, it’s a journey. I’m so glad you were able to love and accept your texture inspite of the losers who were clearly insecure about themselves. 🥹Bless you Lady!
1000% 👏👏👏 You said a lot of truth! I cried “4c tears” after I big chopped. I had no idea how to care for my hair as a 35 year old. It was a sad sight. Thank God for RUclips!! It gave me somewhere to start, but I still had to put in the work. It’s taken 10 years to finally accept my texture, and it settled in my spirit when I accepted that this is how God made me. God doesn’t make mistakes. I hope you your message touches someone in their spirit and brings about the change that’s needed. Love you Sis! You’re doing the Lord’s work with your channel. There’s not many ladies on the internet with our hair characteristics. Thank you for being willing to share. 💕💜
Love you too!! 😩I resonate with this so much! It has been such a long journey for us. But you and I and many others are reaping the rewards for enduring beyond all the frustrations. We just have to hang on. I appreciate your support soooooooo much!!!! I pray it does too. It’s heartbreaking to see this happen. Thank you sis! I couldn’t do it without you girls support!
We have to get rid of the hair typing as it still separates us, texture hair is textured hair, my hair may not be super coily but I too was dealing with expressing my hair as well…
I understand your point sis. I never said others with different types didn’t go through this struggle. It is simply more common to see women with 4c hair publicly vocalizing this struggle than others. I don’t look at the negatives of the hair typing chart, but the positives. It has helped me connect with so many women who have similar texture to mine. And you see, when I first when natural, I assumed my hair was going to look like girls with the type 4a/3c texture not knowing how mine actually looked or behaved. So when I realized how starkly different it was, it was discouraging as most women with 4c hair weren’t as visible.
Friend you know me by now, I’ll write a message close to the length of a short story 😂. But I’ll keep it as short as I can. I feel the passion and the love of God as you speak. I think about the song that says “oh, how He loves us”. I believe it greaves Him while simultaneously has the enemy is complete glee when we hate what He has called beautiful. I stumbled across a video a couple of months ago. It was a male RUclipsr, and he said while most black Americans celebrated Madam C.J Walker and Garrett Morgan for hair straighteners and relaxers he talked about how damaging it has actually been to black Americans. There were blacks at that time that was totally against it because it plays on the insecurities of those days. But they resisted the naysayers and well, money talks. It’s such a sensitive topic and I wouldn’t say I’m against someone ever applying heat to straiten their hair but the absolute vitriol for how the hair grows out of our scalp needs to never ever be accepted. It’s not normal. It’s not okay. I don’t have 4c hair though I’m in the 4 type group. And I know what it is to hate and relax my hair for many years. But I can agree that when the natural hair movement blew up the 4c short less dense hair seems to be overlooked. So those with that hair type rarely ever represents themselves or the ones that do don’t get seen as much. So the “healing” and acceptance that the other groups got one group was left out. And the sad part is in the comment section of these videos of women relaxing their hair I see celebrating. 😔
Camille! You never ever ever ever have to apologize for your comments! I don’t care how long they are, because I know they’re RICH with gems, I’m ready every single word 🤎🤎🤎 and this was no different. Since you mentioned madam CJ (I didn’t know about Garrett Morgan), I remember as a little girl how we all admired her innovation for black hair. And we didn’t even realize she was promoting a damaging message. Omg 😭. I don’t think many people who resisted it are given the credit for preserving the natural hair feature of American blacks. So sad!!! It is awful to deface a beautiful piece of art; many would faint at the idea of somebody adding eyelashes or anything to Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, but here we are in this day, defacing the original design of a black woman. God’s creation! That’s why I’m glad for our community we’ve built here on Coily code because while I know “it’s my hair I can do whatever I want” mentality reigns supreme in this space (becuz the women will cheer a sista on for relaxing her hair), I think it’s simply a coverup. And I don’t agree with it. So while I cannot and will not judge another woman for what she does on her head, I can speak a different message in hopes it stops other black women from defacing their beautiful hair. Thank you again for your insight. It’s always welcomed 😍🤎

I get it, but she’s in a position (regarding having a YT channel specifically about caring for 4c hair) to counter that message with positivity. That can’t be done accurately without knowing what’s being said.
Some people have beautiful hair, some people have scraggly hair. But I would never understand tired of your own hair. Your hair is common in the African race so I don’t see a problem.
Amen! 4c hair is created in the image and likeness of God. His skin is as of brass, His hair is of wool, eyes of fire! The blood of Jesus is against you satan in the mighty, majestic and matchless name of Jesus Christ!!!! Istand in agreement with you my dear sister in Christ Jesus

You understand Ki. And ppl can take it anyway they want but this nonsense has got to stop. ❤️
You nailed it. Thank you for your words of wisdom. I went 4C natural in 2019. Never experienced my beautiful hair until I was 62 years young.
😭Wow!!!! I’m so encouraged! Thank you so much for sharing. 4C hair is soooo beautiful and I’m glad you are experiencing it now! 🤎
