(This was filmed in February, which is why I'm wearing a long padding winter coat.)
In this episode of "Best of Naju," I explore the skate fish streets of Yeongsan-po, Naju, and learn some of the neighborhood's history.
Yeongsan-po (영산포) was one of three major ports of southwestern Korea in the 1910s, together with Mokpo and Gunsan because of the Yeongsan River (영산강).
Today this town is best known for fermented skate fish restaurants, the skate fish festival, yellow rapeseed flowers, local markets, and the Yeongsan River bike trails. It is located in Naju county, about 20 minutes from Bitgaram Naju Innocity and 40 minutes south of Gwangju city in Jeollanam-do province.
