I'm really glad this group is revisiting the classics & building on the sounds established in the 70s-90s. Those eras were the pinnacle of R&B & it won't move forward as a genre if those eras are forgotten.

@@urbancommute5239 I don't want to vilify black people. But unfortunately our culture/identity has been twisted as something common and therefore not worth preserving. And we're pushing toward "sensibility" and away from art in our drive for success which is hurting us. The 2000s r&b shift toward lust & hatred between genders (a la chris brown) makes it so that heartfelt love songs make slightly younger people than me (I'm 30) feel uncomfortable meanwhile I grew up listening to them on the radio as casual listening. Jacquees is revisiting the music but the essence of the emotion & expression isn't honored. It's pretty much cultural genocide 😒
