Which is best? Excel or Google Sheets? Both are great spreadsheet tools. But which should you focus your time on? In this Excel vs Google Sheets video, we compare these two tools!
Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel are both spreadsheet applications that do virtually the same thing. Whilst Excel has always been the go-to spreadsheet application for business, times are changing. Now, Excel is not necessarily the first choice for consumers.
It’s the biggest rival in recent times is Google Sheets. As part of the free G-suite package, Sheets seamlessly integrates with other Google applications such as Google Drive, Google Docs, and Gmail.
But does free equate to better? It’s time to stack them up against each other and find out.

You can work on google sheets offline as well. You just have to open your browser to access it offline. there's many videos covering the topic online. Go ahead and check it out.

Many formulas you have in Excel will not work with Google Sheets.
Macros will absolutely NOT work with Google Sheets. That makes you unable to do any advanced programming.
With that said, DEVELOPER tab or feature is none existent.
For corporations: Stay away from Google.

I recently ran into a significant compatibility problem with excel using activex controls. These don't work on Macs and are only recognized in Windows. So trying to develop a more complex workbook for everyone to use I am not trying with google sheets.

You really should have done your homework on this a little better. Google Sheets is available offline with a browser extension. On Large Worksheets, you should have done more homework on this too. Excel does have more cells available. However, most of these are NOT usable due to memory limitations and processing speed. I simple test proves this. The test I ran was putting 1 single character into all cells within a single worksheet then save it, close it and reopen it. This test fails because the amount of data within the sheet exceeds memory available.

This is true for the Google search engine, RUclips or Gmail but not for Google Sheets. So if you use these services, it doesn't really make a difference if you use the latter or not. That's why you can actually call it free.
