Please don’t ever stop showing the cooking of food and making of coffee. It inspired me to go make coffee in my 1984 Westy in the garage! 😂 and - as long as it’s for YOU - you should keep going my man! Merry Christmas 😊
Found your channel a week ago. I like your presentation of van life. Not all of us are brave enough to live like you do. Keep up the good work! Happy Holidays!
The few hater comments just make us laugh, they are so out of place. This series was pretty fantastic stuff, Vanagons, Tetons, Cooking up the coffee and food puts us all there, its one of the best parts. I consider myself a picky critic and these daily episodes were something I looked forward to daily, great job man, keep up the filming and real content! Merry Christmas!
You’re a good person bro it is awesome that you gave your van away to a family that was in need, and clearly were trying to make ends meet. Also your Volkswagen looks great and you got amazing content.
Great story. One which many of us older folks can probably relate to at some level from our own experiences. You’re working hard and doing life your way. Keep it up!
That was super nice of you. Although no good deed goes unpunished 😅. You give away a van and yours breaks down. I can't believe you have haters, what is wrong with people.
1:35 @sebastianstonum Hey Brother, metal on Teflon is BAD! Puts Teflon in your body. Stay healthy, lose the Teflon, it always comes apart and you always eat it when it does! At least get some wooden utensils and throw out anything Teflon with even a single scratch. Cast iron is heavy but safe and nearly indestructible. Not sure about the new titanium stuff but seems more stable as well, though obviously expensive. Take care of yourself and rest up. Happy trails!
I wouldn't be able to do a quarter of the repairs that you did. Koodu to you on your ingenuity. Love your channel. I have a 2014 Grand caravan modified like a Westfalia . It works great with all the amenities of Westfalia . Have a great day . Hope you are feeling better soon. Joyeux Noël mon ami 16:40
A great video with all the breakdowns but that’s the life of a Vanagon owner. My problem is def engine running hot. I’m getting an oil cooler fitted to my 2.1 Waterboxer shortly 🤞 that it will help a bit
The reason you likely have RPM issues on the highway is the transaxle is not a transaxle from a diesel if you just used the one in the gas van. It has different gearing than a gas motor. You can probably buy the right gear set to fix that. A different option is to use a subaru transaxle with a reversed ring & pinion set (subaru gears) makes them but you'd need to look into the gear ratios to see what would work with the lower rpm diesel. As for TDIs ALH's are good but don't be scared of the next model the BEW's. I have a BEW golf and it's dependable as hell, it's just electronic controlled but it's not hard to make stand alone harness for them Oh as far as VW community, yeah that's certainly a bonus with Vanagons. Everyone is always helpful. I had a guy bring me a trans for my 1st one when it broke leaving me stranded. It's also sort of the same with the Honda Element community, a lot of people use those for camper vans just a bit smaller but they have a solid community as well. They're also pretty cool little vehicles and do off road well due to AWD in some of them and they are very dependable.
Hey Sebastian, Merry Christmas. Love your channel. I have an 86 Westy for an over 25 years. I’m curious what make and model tire you have on your Westy. How do they perform in the Tetons area with snow?
Good job Sebastian. Hang in there. When you come back to Missoula I'll buy you a cup of coffee at LPO or your fave place. Merry Christmas from the Bitterroot! T
Just discovered a channel called Vanagon Geek. Highly recommend you watch- “VW westfalia camper build/ walk around- EJ25 Subaru Swapped” Absolutely amazing build IMO. Thought maybe you could get some ideas for your new build. Thanks for the content brother!
I ask myself everyday how different things would be if I had taken my stage 5 (rocketchip) out of my tboned I put it in my van. Everyone told me it would have to lean too far.

Nice VW story 👍🏻🏴
West Mountain in HS is so beautiful! Arkansas and Florida humidity is outrageous 😅
Make sure you keep the timing belt service on that TDI. Many years with VW and the give out about 80k
Yes! I learned my lesson in even using cheaper timing belts with my Subaru, OEM and keeping an eye on the pulley’s is the best thing for these engines
OEM on a component like that is the only way to go. Do the water pump and tensioner also.
Your life is an adventure wonderful stories !!!! You never give up !!
Cool story overall.
Having guts to go travelling on non tested van :D
Use Loose Leaf Tea, Tea Bags release over 11.6 micro plastics in each cup of Tea
I think it was that 20 shift you pulled. Exhaustion Creeps!
Great videos. Love the story. Keep up the good work.
All excellent content! You have a good presentation style.

I can manage 68 mph max on a flat highway with a 2.1L , what's your top speed with the diesel?
I can hold 80-85mph on flat ground in my all original 87 vanagon. Of course I’ve done a thing or two to it :)
@ is that extra power from a mansispeed efi?
@ no but his products have my interest. I just have it timed to my liking.
I ask myself everyday how different things would be if I had taken my stage 5 (rocketchip) out of my tboned I put it in my van. Everyone told me it would have to lean too far.
Fla is tough on vanlifers and summer camping with no see ums is awful. There is an impressive vw club though
Brilliant impressive your SUPER!
Good stuff Sebastian.
By the way, never seen you eat any vegetables!
Ty
Looking forward to the rebuild videos in 2025.
