I was told by a tire shop before I knew much about off-roading that I wanted a great tire and wheel for off-roading. I have a 2019 Ford Ranger. They set me up with 20” wheels on 33” tires. This was a huge mistake! First of all you can’t air down near as much with 20” wheels, you have less side wall, the wheels are more exposed, the ride quality is significantly reduced, and now after less than 20K miles my wheels are all smashed up from not being protected by the tire. A 17” wheel could have significantly reduced all these issues. Now I had to spend another $3k on 17” wheels and new tires to fit the wheel.

Speaking of doing it in stages:
    I went from a 2" level and 33s, then to a 1.5" body lift.
Then, a 3" level and 1" rear block lift and a 1.5" rear spring lift.
Then, I got Billsteins with a 1" front setting and 35s.
Shoulda just gone with a full lift at the beginning, but, hey, we learn as we go and I'm happy with what I have. :)
New UCAs and alignments at each stage, BTW.

What did is stock my build parts on a husky shelf that I bought from Home Depot knowing it would take some time for a average working man like me . After gathering parts for a year and a half building the truck was completed few months. So in conclusion just have to be patient and buy the right parts the first time. I’m enjoying my 2nd gen ram with 6” lift and 22x12 on amp tires full audio system upgrade. I can tell you since I did this to my truck I’ve been offered more than expected, but truck is to sentimental to me it was the only new truck my dad bought new before he passed away.

Because I'm going to keep my truck for the rest of my life I'm not going to sell it. People sell old trucks they've built just because they're bored of it.. My goal is to enjoy it until something breaks that I'm not willing to repair, which it'd have to be pretty catastrophic, then sell it when it's REALLY not worth anything and I've gotten my money's worth and enjoyment out it. Then I'll get a newer one. But I realize not everyone has multiple vehicles to drive while one is broken or while finding another to put together 🤷‍♂️

So.... I have a 2003 dodge ram quad cab in baby blue.. the thing that insoires me to actually get it to build it... Is its a solid truck.. for my personal needs just to travel.. isnt the most cheapest option in gas... But to go over normal roads. Or 45 degree angle on the truck.. you need a lift kit for tall nasty road bumps spikes. Being aboe to go fast without any worries....i have a 2020 expedition man do i love it.. but toms of money i soent for just the oayments itself... Downgraded in worth wise.. was 80k at one point now they are 35k😧 but the truck i dont plan om selling it at all.. rather experience the long strong heart it still has... 15+ yrs with it.. and plan to swap out the trucks interior plastic with new oem. And get leather seats from a 2014-2017 in black leather and new models that can recline go up and down amd forward with oush of a botton. And cooling and heating seats.... Seen it first hand somehow the truck went gliding and went down a hill.. lucky was fresh wet grass. At the time the truck was still able to go bull blast and go back up in the interstate... Add 1000 dollar headlights. And normal reverse lights.. 6 inch lift kit. And make it as modern trucks today.. get it oainted cheap in mexico for 600 bucks save 3-6k if it was in the usa.... Speakers.. and so on.. becuase that was my first truck pops had sinxe i was like 3-4 now am 23 turning 24 in july... I have more confidence in it then the 2020 honestly.. cam take hits not depend on a chip or electic parts to work.. rather a real soilder made to last long if you take care of it... If i tell you my reason why pops truck has lasted so long.. maintaining it.. oil change water new tires when needed and adjustment after a new set installed... Allways rocled stock height... But i plan to make it cool.. and when i know its time to load some weight on it it cam handle it..truck its payed off just insurance.. why i dont risk on buying a newer or modern trucks... This one works just fine.. once all of this installed and replace all plastic on it well look even better then the 2020.. no more old cars exist.. either a hard work horse or just left in the dump becuase of no use.. while it still working i want to make the best out of it and keep it running for 15+ yrs myself. And have it in my possession and let pops see it turn into a beast just like the day he got it.. just more modern and comfortable.. if you have a old truck and know its worth investing it for yourself.. go for it.. if you want to make money.. do the lead to it.. replace the headlights with somthing cheap 70$ bucks. Leds to be nice.. and everything else should properly work and not have wires everywhere and nasty.. worth the money foe the buyer and you.. and nexttime once you get another truck or car you well habe a good reputation..
