  • The SCORPION Automated Side Loader is innovative in many aspects including the packing mechanism. The slide, sweep panel acts like a rear loader, clearing the hopper effectively from container to container. This video demonstrates the packing mechanism with curbside & 300's solid waste in addition, commingled recycling.

    that is one quick, cool, efficiant and one of the most powerful sideloaders ever!! love how it eats all the garbage without a problem. Not like the ones with the regular packer that just goes back and forth where some garbage falls back into the hopper. Anyhow cool truck and greetings from germany

      I wish the other asls had the actual packer sweep arm like the rear loads do. That is the best one to keep stuff from blowing away as we drive down the road.

    Excellent work! The Scorpion packer definitely is very unique from other truck packers. I like how it almost functions like an RL's packer. Great job again! Your hard work that went into this video paid off handsomely.

    Have you ever tried to grab a bulkly item, like a sleep sofa, queen size matress, etc. with the pinchers and dump it into the hopper. If so, how did the Scorpian's compactor system handle crunching it up? Was it able to "divide and conquer" the item or did it choke?

  • @AussieGarbo
    @AussieGarbo 9 лет назад +3

    Must always be guaranteed a hard packed load with the blade design on these Scorpions. I figure these can pack much harder than a rear loader considering the load is being pushed into the body rather than lifted. I'm curious, say somebody threw an item like a fridge into a 300g, is this packer powerful and strong enough to crunch through it? Fantastic footage anyway, cool to see this machine in operation!

    • @DaDeeMFG
      @DaDeeMFG  9 лет назад +2

      Most definitely the SCORPION packing mechanism can handle a fridge! Thank you for commenting!

    This design is awesome but it is plagued by constant hydraulic leaks on the stack valves for the arm and the Packer. Also the rubber hoses. I really love it though and it makes life a bit easier when there's 1300 cans to service on a route.

    Have you any future plans to demo these units to Australian refuse collection agencies and councils? I'm pretty certain a LCD wide-screen TV would have very little chance of getting stuck in this packer! What thickness of steel would it be guaranteed to handle without damage to the hydraulics? I have seen cylinder heads stuck in garbage a long time ago. Very difficult for a garbage packer to unstick! The garbo operating the truck that day was not happy about having to go back to the depot to have the metal item removed. I'm a residential customer, I'm not interested in buying these for myself, although would certainly be good to see them demoed at shows or other locations across Australia. It would have to be able to handle wooden fence posts with fencing and wire still attached, that seems to be a major difficulty for paddle packers to handle on garbage routes in rural areas.

    how does the driver known when the truck is full

    • @DaDeeMFG
      @DaDeeMFG  8 лет назад

      Nick, a majority of the trucks featured in this video are equipped with an on board scale system that alerts the operator when the unit is fully loaded giving them an overall weight of the truck. For trucks that do not have an on board scale, the truck's operating system will let the operator also know when the truck is approaching full on the operating screen judging how far the blade slides back during auto pack mode. Some cities will also limit their operators on how many solid waste containers they pick up for their route.

      Can YOU all take my diapers and I as waste? According to certain Trash Collection rules, "ANYTHING that is inside of a trash can or dumpster is considered "Property" of that trash company to do with as they see fit. That means that "I" would cease to be a "Human being" and would exist ONLY as "Discarded Property" (such as in any jail or prison, people cease to exist as humans but as owned "property" with no rights, except for those who "own" the prisoners) In MOST #DeathWithDignity Bills, the patients are NOT forced to take the "Prescribed Medications" and thus ARE allowed to choose alternative "methods of Death" so implied within the bills! New Mexico has one....Arizona is NOT far behind!
      SO, being that I choose to be compacted in a trash truck along a route as MY chosen "Method of death", then ALL that needs to happen is for the company to agree and contract!

    The Scorpion has got to be the best ASL developed to date. Can you at DaDee market units to haulers and districts in CA? Too many hideous Amreps out here. Gosh they build an ugly body. The Scorpion looks as good as it works. For an operator the best packer on an ASL ever designed.

    • @resjr330

      Aaron Roberts scorpions are the best trucks in the business by far. Superior packing and superior in cab controls. I love my scorpion and don’t want to run anything else. We just got some new amreps and they’re junk. I don’t understand why other manufacturers keep the same rocker switches( the flat ones) the scorpions are raised like a front end loader and when you’re picking up 1200/1400 can routes they’re so much easier on your fingers. Great job Dadee Mfg on designing the scorpion with the operator in mind. I just hope they start building them again in Phoenix and the municipality I work for buys them.

      Scorpions are now made in Texas by G and H manufacturing a sub of BTE body. I think they need to market them all over the country. I know San Diego had a couple and I believe Santa Monica has some scorpions. I don’t work for scorpion. I’m an operator at a local city. I agree the amreps are ugly and they’re also a pos. We have some new ones and they’re always down. Their 2 packer design is the worst, they should of just copied their front loader design.
