Welcome back light rail trains on Taraval!
Starting June 26th, SFMTA has been conducting testing between Taraval & Sunset and West Portal Station, with crews working on evaluating performances of the trains at turns, switchbacks or stop locations. Along with all tracks being installed recently, construction workers and SFMTA staff are making sure that trains are running safe and smoothly at different locations along the Taraval corridor.
Ever since that the L Taraval Improvement Project is completed, train #1481 is so far the only train that has been on Taraval for a while. As you can see, they are repeatedly testing multiple segments for a few times, like Taraval & 15th Ave, where they were looking at the pantograph to see if it will stay connected at the turn.
Who is looking forward for the L to come back?
It’s back
Looks like everything is working pretty smoothly :)
The bus drivers who have been driving the L line are probably happy that LRVs will be returning to this line and want to be assigned to other routes
im afraid not, as they seem to be Woods division operators that only drive buses
Since SarangHello (K-Pop store) is along Taraval St., it will be the very first time that rail service will run through that area. It's very exciting for me if I have to go there to get K-Pop albums and will be using the L Taraval Muni Metro once it comes back in service!!!! The closest stop for SarangHello along the L Taraval line is Taraval/30th Ave., with a 1 block walk to Taraval/31st. Ave.
Are they going do a soft launch like they did with T Central Subway Train short route service?
Last time L Taraval train was present was 4 years ago i think
Think that police car is also helping test
Nah I think they’ll just start service all together, and yes that police car were to help stop traffic
It’s this L Taraval
Are they testing train all summer or just this week and the week of July 8 to the 12
likely all summer from now on, but at this point still testing certain segments rather than full route yet
L Taraval LRT Will Now Have 3 Car on Taraval Line ❤😂🎉😊😅
that sounds like a dream
@@sfmunioperations more likely not going happen and their boarding island seem only fit 2 trains.
@@valeman3 yep lol
@@valeman3 How About we will fit 1 or 2 or 3 more car trains on trains should be 3-4 or 5 tram trains 🚊
Though if you were at a underground station it probably won’t fit
Is the l coming back in to service soon
They said it’s gonna be this fall, my guess is september
So there Traffic Signals in every block that has a bus stop for the L TARAVAL soon?
I dont really see high car traffic activity on Taraval St
Not really but some are still stop signs
Will they run the siemens s200 on L taraval too or just the breda trains? to be honest i never have a reason to ride L taraval. but i might just to see the new pavement! maybe even hang out at the beach
@@FanofPeppers no idea, but more like the opposite, no Breda but siemens
They may retire most of the trains by the fall.
Are they going to move on to ocean Ave to renovate the K now?
Not announced yet
@@sfmunioperations I think it’d happen sometime this decade. + it’ll be chaos once it happens! So much traffic I imagine.
Nah they need to work on N judah. Their number one priority should be to extend medians as much as possible from ocean beach to the duboce tunnel. N is their most used line and they need to speed it up
@@andreistolyarov323 that I agree as well! One of the longest route (and slowest) in the system
The plans are approved for K, M, J projects. Funding for the wheelchair accessible stops were just awarded by the federal government so the remaining funds need to be secured and then engineered, then constructed. The N project should begin this fall, which is just the outreach and plan design, which will likely see stop consolidation, upgrading boarding islands and maybe stop consolidations, with $11m in funds to improve the line already provided by UCSF. The plans will likely be related to the Core Capacity Working Group that has been meeting regularly this year to help SFMTA determine what to prioritize over the next 15-20 years (although I believe that working group is a waste of time, just like the outreach for a Geary/19th Subway that will start this year as well, but too much for a RUclips comment).
When. Is it opening?????
