OOOOOOOOOOO LORE- Okay, so what I get from this is that Emery is in charge of keeping Weirdo contained, but Weirdo is constantly heckling him about how he crushed his inner child to chase an unfulfilling life. One day, Emery gets so upset he lashes out, but Weirdo overpowers him aaaaaand it looks like Emery helps him escape? Reverse stockholm syndrome, well done Weirdo.
Weirdo really said "You're locked up in here with me" XD

Love weirdo so much, can’t tell if the other guy is meant to by sympathic. I’d assume no but also the song matter seems to say otherwise. He also left with weirdo it seem. Anyway, very interesting

Soo i have some thought, its clear our brown haired boy is a child of parents who expected high of him. To be the all A's child. High ranking family seeing he is of high status in the company that has imprisoned Weirdo. Also in addition there are hints them knowing eachother before hand. A betrayal perhaps? Weirdo managed to escape at 3:00 am and not pm as i initially thought. Additionally they were paired up against their will, idk who paired them up but they Had to know them fighting and arguing would lead to a big fight like this. Maybe a traitor within the company/lab? Or even it was planned, just to see how their "experiment" will do later on in a "free" scenario
I was awaiting your insight on this, since I know you wanted to theorise XD I love what you wrote
I just keep being more obsessed with Weirdo after every animatic XD

If I had to guess, I’d say Emery & Weirdo are supposed to mirror or be foils to each other in the animatic. Emery being the “noble heir” to some kind of wealthy family with expectations to live up to but “locked up” and having to obey his parents. Meanwhile Weirdo is literally locked up and has to obey/listen to Emery, but also represents a building desire for freedom in Emery. Like “a bird in a cage has its own caged bird” type deal! But Emery sees the freedom as him betraying the expectations of him, thinking not following through would leave him not knowing who he’s supposed to be, thus he lashes out and gets violent with Weirdo
Weirdo keeps taunting and basically throwing “tough love” truths at Emery about how “who turned his red heart to black”, insinuating his parents’ expectations are ruining him, his passions, self image, etc. Emery gets pissed and frustrated enough to break the collar and let Weirdo escape, but simultaneously Weirdo being set free gives Emery the excuse to run away himself. And the caged bedroom could have been either of their rooms since they both escape in the end, tho it doesn’t look like Weirdo is done with Emery just yet

Tough love is certainly one way to describe Weirdo's attitude towards Emery XD hope you'll enjoy ep 2 when it comes out!
Well my best guess: Emery and Weirdo relation look in my eyes as Master/pet, Weirdo is literally on a leash
Knowing that and some of the image we saw we can guess that Emery and Weirdo know each other for a while (mostly because of the flashbacks who are show when it's Weirdo who talk)
Emery seem to have a lot of expectations coming from his parents and he changed a lot from the carefree child that he use to be
Weirdo like the menace he is use that to taunt Emery, that explains the argument, he does that on propose and the reason is that he wants freedom getting out of this littéral cage (the bedroom with bars as well at the end 3:07 is proof of it)
Emery did not see that coming, and i don't think he ever expected Weirdo to ever hurt him because it never happened before.
The end is just a little confusing through, i don't know why Emery seem to run away, was it because he wants to be as far away as weirdo he can possibly be, if weirdo kinda force him to come with him because between the two of them Emery have the money, or if even if Emery even if he is scared of our local gremlin, get out of his home with Weirdo willingly ---
Well who knows, it's just a theory.
An ANIMATIC theory (saddly we can not use the game theory joke because of the fact that it is not a game, but i could have use the Film one but heh-)
Anyway very good choice of music, it's literally one of my favorites so hearing ot with the animatic made me so happy :0

I love this so much!!! Weirdo is my favourite little guy. Part of me wants to hug him and part of me is scared of him and I don’t know which side is right.

Ok, I have been considering this animatic a lot and have finally decided to take a shot at theorizing.
All the scenes with the chain are more symbolic; they show Weirdo as something under control and contained, even with his constant mocking and jeering towards Emery. There is also some visual irony with the chain and collar with those things representing being controlled, but Weirdo has a lot more control of Emery than the other way around.
Another thing that isn't really a theory, Emery reminds me of some other animatics, like the Oeoeo remake with the person who gets attacked by Weirdo at the end, and the Goner remake with the guy who hires the assassin (I'm sorry i can't remember his name I just think sad redhead). I'm not sure if those to are Emery but my brain decided to make that connection.
Edit: Alright i was wrong abt the Oeoeo remake, Thats some guy named Colby.
I love doing symbolic visuals, it's so fun.
In oeoeo, the guy who gets attacked is Colby (like you said in your edit) and in Goner, that guy is called Callum :> he's not connected to Emery.
Part 2 just came out if you want to have something else to theorize on :D

Oh, hey, isn't that the Sword of Damocles? This is a threat hanging over someone, which at first glance is not visible from the outside.(Weirdo is a threat and no one sees him except Emery) Or in another sense, it is a FEELING of constant threat, which can turn into a real danger.(Maybe before that, Weirdo was really just in Emery's head. Emery's stress escalated into a subsequent escape from Weirdo, which was now a REAL threat.) 0^0

Is Mishaps a story you’re writing? If so I’d love to read it, I’m drawn to their dynamic. It’s like Weirdo is simultaneously Emery’s pet and the devil on his shoulder. There’s also opportunities for a angsty gay relationship and I’m here for that lol
Mishaps is still in the works, but yes I want to publish it one day.
