I agree! There are so many heroes to honor that stay alive in history if we remember them. Great idea!

The small zip pocket is for the paratrooper switch blade knife.

My Grandfather Stokes Taylor ,80th ABN AT/AA BN,82nd ABN. Carried a BAR thru Normandy to the Bulge. Was KIA in Trois Ponts Belgium,12/21/44,DSC,PH. His citation speaks of the use of his BAR.

They hardly make 'em like that anymore. He decided in an instant to save his platoon at the cost of his own life. God bless.

Ah yes, you know! I'm one of the lucky ones with patches on the left and right, and luckily back in one piece.

When my Mom moved into her retirement community in the mid 1990s, almost all of the residents were WWII vets. Every time I visited her, and my Aunt & Uncle (Blackhawk Division) there, I often wondered what untold stories I passed, with a nod, in the hallways. One man was 6’-3” if he was an inch… and that was even stooped over, I thought then, “I bet he jumped with the BAR…”
    God bless them all.

US Army M42 Paratrooper Uniform! Nicely done! Fun fact - for D-Day they reinforced the stitching and pockets, and it was known as the 'Reinforced Jump Uniform'

Not every paratrooper had M1 carbine paratrooper models. Most had Thompsons or M1 garrands.

Totally right on the Tommy guns! We mentioned in one of the last videos how the 101st paratroopers had a huge cache of Thompsons which were great weapons. Maybe a tad heavy at 12lbs when they were floating down from the sky - versus the Carbine's 5 lbs - but once you landed, it was great to have with you on to the objective. Good add, Jim!
