Hi, that is a slow feeder bowl to help prevent "bloat". If a large dog eats too fast and inhales air into their stomach, it can twist. Bloat can be fatal if not treated. I had a friend who almost lost his dog to bloat. The poor dog had to have emergency surgery. The slow feeder bowl is very good for his health and it also forces him to look around the bowl for every last piece which is good for his mind. 🙂
