    Just did my annual oil changes in my e92 m and e46 m. Both don’t get enough mileage so I just do them both annually. It’s such an enjoyable Saturday afternoon when doing it. Although the lack of dipstick on the e92 is maddening.

      Agree I do enjoy the tinkering but wish I had a nice dry/warm workshop with a 2 poster ramp 😅
      It’s certainly annoying they don’t have the dip stick on the e92 that’s for sure!

    Great tutorial! Question about filling up the filter before closing it up: Is there any importance as to where that oil goes within that housing? Can it go in the center tube a bit, or should it only flow on the outsides of the filter, as your fill has done?

      Glad you enjoyed the guide 😎
      Fill round the outside to prime the filter to reduce the dry start up time 👍

    do you keep all your m cars outdoors? how do you manage to keep them so clean against rust!

      @stoneautomotive  19 дней назад

      Yes sadly so, can’t get them down the side of the house to the garage 😭
      I don’t drive the e46 past November until April to avoid the salt and just before laying it up I jack it up and give it a deep clean and coat the underside in ACF-50.. she is clean for an old girl that’s covered 95,000 miles but does need a few bits re-powder coating like the v-brace and exhaust hangers

    Don’t suppose you have had to replace your wipers on the E46 in a while? Having a mare trying to source refills for original designed blades…

      No can’t say i had any issues when I replaced them last year? Pretty sure I just ordered Bosch ones off eBay

    Nice video but I'm Curious about the half a Litre of oil in the oil cooler and pipes !!!

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  17 дней назад

      Unless you’ve spun a shell etc I can’t see the need to flush the cooler, would be some service time taking all apart 🤷‍♂️ the amount of pockets in the block that holds oil you would have some job doing a full 100% drain.
      Thankfully my oil comes out so golden with the regular changes I’m not worried about a little bit of the old oil getting left behind

      totally understand what your saying about getting all the oil out , But for the sake of removing 1 bolt from the bottom cooler pipe and making sure you jack up the car so the cooler inlet side is the lowest, then just pull off the pipes buying new o- rings for refitting £1 each. I did it at the weekend and got almost 3/4 of a liter of oil extra out of the cooler and pipes an extra 15 mins job only a thought

    Quick question...its not about E46 M3...but I own E92 M3 DCT 2013 LCI I wondered if you've had issues with cowbell noise, if so what do you recommend to sort the issue...thanks.

      Never heard of that one! Seems can hopefully be a simple fix 👍

    Great informative video as always.
    Also to note for anyone who encounters it the smaller 1L Castrol bottles they have now changed the design and marketing on the bottle and would imagine they will do the same for the 4L bottles soon, I bought mine from opie oils and I had to email them prior to confirm as I got a surprise when I opened the packaging as I was so used to the yellow/gold bottles.
    Also what type of car cover do you have as I am considering an outside car cover, my car sits in my drive also and it does not do a great deal of miles these days.
    Thanks, Rab.

      Thanks Rab 👍😎
      Interesting, shall wait too see what the order looks like next year with the bottle design change 😬
      I’ve been using a Halfords professional all season car cover, I must say for the cost it’s really good and fits nicely 😎

    About time! 😀 Is the weather in the UK good enough for some weekend fun? We've had below -30'C cold here in Sweden, brrr...

      Wow that is cold 😱
      In comparison it’s practically summer in the UK haha but salted roads means mine stays tucked up till the warm weather returns 😅

    Great video and good to have you back hope you had amazing xmas and new year mate , i never realised the oil filter housing bolt was at 32nm ive been doing 25nm im still learning must be 😃

    • @stoneautomotive
      @stoneautomotive  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks mate, hope you did too 👍
      It is a high torque setting for that bolt, I would agree and would have thought 25NM would be enough but BMW built the engine so who am I to argue 😅
