  • Fix Your Bad Audio!
Here's a tutorial on how I fix bad audio in Davinci Resolve. The good news is that these concepts can be carried to any program (Adobe Premiere, Audacity, Cubase etc etc).
I've got two very different clips here in Resolve and I'll walk you through how to fix them both up.
Always remember to listen listen listen. It's all about the end result, so if something is sounding weird then ask yourself what's going on (too thin, too bassy), and use the EQ to adjust. It might take you several audio fixes to really get a hang of it, so start using it and skill up!
    First clip
    - Noise Removal
    - EQ
    - Compressor
    - Second EQ
    Second Clip

  • @PirateRoberts
    @PirateRoberts 4 года назад

I was looking for the same issue and after all the forums I was finding no answers so I came to RUclips. I found your video and I don't have the flatten Multicam option. Probably because I rendered and then closed the program without saving. So I'm dealing with the fully finished rendered file. One big tip I've learned from this is either save your project or just DON'T close the program until you listen to the final product. :( The only way to fix this is to go back and start from scratch because I still have the original files. But I spent probably 4~5 hours editing the video, so I really don't want to do that again. So... Not sure what's going on with mine. I tried the FairlightFX option to try and remove the crackling, but I just don't know enough about the program to mess with that. I know how to edit video and render it.. :D If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks much

Hello you can tell me why my soundtrack is not moved in the timeline (link clips is activated).
For example, if I move an image clip up a track from v1 to v2 then the sound from the clip to A1 stays with me and does not switch to A2.
So sound just doesn't run into the lower track.
Something I must have adjusted... just what?

    • @fenixtech1342

That sounds super weird, it should be pretty obvious when you move the audio/video tracks around.

Drag the volume down on the audio track, it shouldn’t be peaking past red. If the audio hasn’t peaked from the source then place a compressor on there with a 3:1 ratio, that’ll help smooth the volume so it doesn’t go super soft and super high. You might need 4 or 5:1 but 3:1 is a good starting point. If the audio sounds peaked even if you drop the volume then there’s no real recovery for that, hopefully it’s ok

Hi. Very cool video. Audio is very important.

A while back I had audio-distortions in the videos I recorded - reason being that my system was too slow.
NOW I have a new system - 32 gig Ram, AMD Ryzen 5 and Radeon RX 580 - should be fast enough.
But when I try making videos with the tool from the GPU and then work it with Davinci Resolve, I get the same sound distortions.
The original file has no sound-distortions.
    What is going on?

Is it happening on any other clips in Resolve or just the ones you're recording? What are you recording through, GEForce Experience?
Doesn't sound like its a hardware issue, something must be going on in the recording process. Another option could be to use OBS to screenrecord (thats what I use). I set the video output to .mov and screenrecording is as expected.

But my problem is, that the recording from the tool has a clear sound - but while working on the clip in Resolve, the sound gets distorted.
Maybe the distortion will be gone in the final file - since I wrote the text above, I went and worked the file in Fairlight - no distortion in Fairlight.
I go back to the Edit-Page, STRONG distortion, Knistern (crackling or rustling) now and then words getting replaced by these crackles.
Because it is different in Fairlight, I will finalize the video now, and then I tell you what happened :).

for some reason the audio record fine, but in davinci it speeds up

    • @fenixtech1342

Whats the audio source? Maybe the sample rate is different so it sounds sped up. This is common when mixing 48khz and 44.1khz. I've never had this issue in Resolve but I've had it in audio software. You can generally set the project to change the sampling rate to suit or you have to encode the audio to the "common" sampling rate.
Anyway check the file sample rate and make sure its the same as resolve, if it's not then that's the problem.

@@fenixtech1342 It might be, but I have not had this problem until I switched from davinci resolve 17 beta to davinci resolve 16. I switched because my computer is crap and it kept crashing everytime i pressed a button but it seems to be doing better on davinci resolve 16. Anyways, could you make a video over this? I searched all over youtube but could not find a single video about this problem. Thanks for responding though, not many youtubers do that lol.

Hi, My first time video editing... I'm a musician. I drag and drop my audio file, which is WAV, It's mixed and mastered and does not need changing. So it's raw audio. As soon as I start playing the audio through Davinci Resolve 17, it distorts. I went through the settings, playback processing buffer size and changed it to 4096, which decreased the distortion but some remains, I then decreased the dB and the distortion was removed, however I need the volume to say the same... Anyone that can help, please do. I was supposed to learn, create and upload today and everything has come to a stop, due to this stupid ass software that ruins audio. No my Mixed/Mastered final product in WAV format and it's original Logic Pro X file is not distorted.

Its either going to be an issue with the WAV file or your install of Resolve. Can you play the WAV file fine in Itunes? Can you import other WAV files into resolve without any issues?
But yeah you should be able to drag in a WAV into resolve no problem. At most you might have to decrease the volume by a few DB if its mastered super hot... but it should not be distorting or messing with volume dynamics.

@@fenixtech1342 I have not bothered putting it onto iTunes yet, however the Upload to SoundCloud was fine. I know there's nothing wrong with the WAV file.
hmmm, I'm guessing it's the install after you mentioned it. As now I have another weird problem...
In the past I have rendered, exported and uploaded a short music video. No problem.
Now I'm trying to make a new video, that only has 2 images overlayed (They're both jPeg files btw), with some text. DaVinci Resolve 17 seems to struggle to render it, when I try to render it, it jumps between 0 and 1 FPS. I thought it was a glitch, so I opened a new project... Threw random videos in there and it rendered no problem, very quickly...
Opened a new project again, put two images which were overlayed and the "video" is 5 seconds long (as I was testing to see if it would render), as I tried to do a quick render, it jumped between 0 and 1 FPS again.
I'm assuming that isn't a usual issue too?
Been at this for nearly 10 hours now, I'm starving, I'm tired... n all I may have to do is re-install, smh lol

@@tyronekavanagh9914 Ah man some of that behaviour sounds strange. It's gotta be some kind of format that resolve isn't liking.
Yeah if all you need is some simple composition of images/text and you aren't going to ruin any active work... I'd just remove it and do a fresh install. I've only had this kinda thing once when I built my new computer... all worked out fine in the end after I installed drivers and everything... hard to say.
I'd also check out some discord groups for resolve, might be easier to get someones help in real time. I'm reasonable with Resolve but i'm not used to diagnosing/seeing system issues haha... mine is pretty stable overall.

Hey man! I make music, and when I post it to RUclips, I add my album cover, and then the music. My problem is with the music. When I export it from davinci resolve, it has these weird staticy noises that ruin the whole song. Is there a fix for that? Here's an example: ruclips.net/video/kJhE4B-eHlg/видео.html
Skip to 0:50. The sounds happen from 0:50 to 1:03.

That is super weird, only thing I can think of is some driver issue. Play around with audio export options or jump onto a resolve discord group for help. One other thing I can think of is some word clock issue if you’re messing with that with external devices… if not then it’s probably some driver thing. Should just be a basic export with no issues.

This is not helpful. You have to explain what you're doing! For example you are saying "let's listen to it" and then the music starts. You have to explain where you click to make it start (because in my case it doesn't). The same is true for all your other actions. We can not see if you use a left or right mouseclick, if you drag something or use the mouse wheel. Without a commentary I'm completely lost.
