I recall really enjoying this short in theaters and understanding its theme, but I was shocked by just how many people disliked it online - finding the premise too weird or foreign for their tastes. Domee Shi can’t seem to catch a break with audiences despite the critical praise, with “Turning Red” receiving a similar reaction for its themes and subject matter.
This is me and my mother’s most favorite short, not just because how cute bao is, but also let us think about our relationship, that we can’t have the same relationship from the childhood. To me, some people who think this concept difficult to understand is that Asian people(at least in my opinion) are tough to be family’s side for long time. Especially in China, family is one of the most important things to be cherished. I’m not saying that other countries don’t have this way of thinking, but maybe the meaning of caring the family is different.
I love it when animation uses food to express a feeling. Something about what food represents, taking care of someone, by appealing to their basic needs.
1:26 Lol despite loving the message about letting go, I always found this part rather freaky, as she literally ate the thing she raised as another son 😝
At least he got a well done short film before one of his least favorite Pixar films. I got nothing before Toy Story 4. Just went in with nothing but the mediocre Addams Family trailer and then head first into an hour and a half of mediocrity
Fun Fact: The girlfriend looks different after the human boy is revealed, implying that the mother has exaggerated the events.

While "Feast" "The Paperman" and "Once Upon a Studio" arey favorite shorts in general, "Bao" is my favorite Pixar short.
I literally almost forgot about this short, thanks for the reminder!
This short reminded my mom of her sister (my cousin kinda looks like the son). I just think thats sweet

I watched this short and it seemed to be about cannibalism.
I like it honestly, but IMO nothing beats "Day and Night"
Oh yeah! This short film is awesome, I remember watching it play before incredible 2!
I personally prefer Piper.
Me too
I cried when I saw this short. This is pretty much me and my mom.
can't believe your mum ate you

I was wondering when you will do a Video of Disney The Lion King 30th Anniversary? I cannot wait to see it 😍
It was alright. I like the Pitbull one better.
couldn't stand that one. especially because that shitbull would've statistically mauled that poor kitten
@@DDRWakaLaka I know Pitbull reputation for being brutal.
I still like it though
Can you please review the rest of Sony animation?
Can you do a video kf why you hate the trueman show
the art style was wickedly unappealing
Better start innovating.
Very true, the short lives rent free in my head and always fills me with so much love and joy whenever I remember the sweet ending and message of it

The only way you can make views is hating on Frozen
