My favorite looking MH bootlegs are the ones from Mexico that use the Myscene molds. I see them all the time on ebay. Some even use the boy sculpt. They almost feel custom like and it makes sense cause myscene was popular over there so why not reuse them as a base? Lol

I'm 18 and I bought my first MH doll (13 wishes Howleen but with no clothes) this year at a flea market 3 hours away from me. I never saw any of them in stores near me cuz I live in a small European country called Croatia so 99% of my dolls were bootlegs. Like, the only official barbie doll I had as a kid was a Ken fashionista my aunt from Switzerland bought me. Recently I wanted to get a couple of the new Barbie fashionistas and the nearest store that had them was 2 hours away. It's not like I live in the middle of nowhere, but the only places to buy official toys are usually in big cities and the nearest big mall is 3 hours away. I hope when the new MH dolls release they won't take years to come to my country and I'll be able to buy at least one lol.
I wish they’d make bootlegs of some of the Comic-con exclusive doll molds, so I could use them for customs. I want the Manny Taur body that doesn’t cost $200. I’d buy it.
I remember when I was younger and my birthday was approaching and most of my relatives knew I loved monster high (mind you I lived in Bulgaria at the time so it was hard to get monster high dolls and they were pretty expensive). My auntie bought me one of the fake dolls since they sold them literally in bookstores and they were everywhere except the big toy stores that carried licensed stuff and actual monster high dolls. I was a bit disappointed at first and had to play it off that I liked my fake Draculaura but the longer I had her I just found her really interesting and fun. She wasn’t even articulated but I was impressed with the clothing and makeup as a kid. I wish I had kept her 😓
The only bootleg stuff I purposely own is some fake ever after high stands just for my monster/ever after high dolls that I'm customising so they have some cheap stands lol, they're called Fairy Tale Girl, to be honest might not ever ever use them but I got them just because cheap stands that you won't look at the base of anyway xD
I do too like bootlegs. I know they are immoral but I don't feel like they can hurt the market of the real ones because they are not comparable and people who buy them are uneducated parents who don't know the difference. A lot of them come from china but there is huge bootleg market for all sort of dolls in Ukraine and Russia too. There is something like brand that I have noticed it is called Ardana girls... I can not find anything about the makers but a lot of the nicely done bootlegs of monster high have Ardana girl on them. I have seen some of them in my country Bulgaria...and a few times almost got them but my boyfriend was with me and he talked me out of it... with the words "for the same price you can an original mh doll second hand that you still don't have in your collection" and he is correct...but still I feel tempted every time since they look like new different background characters that could be attending MH. I do have a few that came to me with second hand lots of MH dolls, there is occasionally the one bootleg amongst them. And especially I love when they mish and mash several different types of dolls like I have one bootleg that has yellow(like not human yellow but yellow-yellow) skin, has bratz-ish face and model muse barbie body with a slit on her back so you can drape pieces of fabric as dresses on to her. They are fascinating.
Yeah I just wish the bootlegs weren't so fragile I broke my doll's wrist as soon as I was posing her and her hair was half rooted (they putted it on a ponytail to fool people into thinking they have a full head of hair) tbh I wish I can find one of the bootlegs she has because their articulation is better than the one I have ;;
I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference between the two Toralis. Then again, I’m not very familiar with monster high in person outside of other people’s content. It’s one of the reasons I love these deep dive type of videos. I get to see other people’s collections and learn things about doll lines I wouldn’t otherwise!
Have you heard of kaibibi girls they are bootleg version of ever after high they looks high quality though. I have some bootleg doll i have some kelly bootleg and my very first mh doll( clawdeen) was a bootleg funny enough. I love them for me bootleg was just an alternate for the high ends dolls you know not people have money to buy expensive dolls barbie rh mh parents buy them because they cant afford the original one. I've seen the draculaura doll in meera (a grocery store in qatar) they didn't have a lot of stock they had 1 in the location in my neighborhood and 1 in another unknown location also most of the bootleg dolls have half of their hair rooted so that's why Frankie's head looks strange (most of my bootlegs that I have have that issue) also I hope the bootlegs aren't like the one I ended up with I broke her wrist she's so fragile and her body was made of this shiny fragile body her knee was kinda broken too ;;

The reboot is mostly higher quality than original MH in terms of bodies and face paint honestly. The hair isn't great for some but great for others. It's a range

Hhhhmmmmmm ... interesting. I had no idea this is a thing with toys in general. My only experience with "knock-offs" as you call them, is resin ball-jointed dolls. I would never have gotten a BJD had there not been re-casts. They're ridiculously over-priced!
BJD’s are made by private artists whose only income often is their art dolls. They’re expensive and low quantity because of this. Supporting recasts is directly supporting art theft from small artists. The bootleg toy industry is the exact same so I refuse to actually buy them directly from the source or brand new because of this. I think it’s important to support original art. If we can’t afford the asking price, we don’t need to own their art

I got a Draculaura and clawd bootleg from aliexpress and Clawd has long hair and i love it. I love couples that's why I bought them haha.

I bought it in 2014 from the toy section. I recommend you don't use that hair because it's trash. It was dollar tree also
