It really bothers me when I see videos like this of Eisenhower grinning ear to ear and other videos showing Truman almost gleeful during interviews right after the assassination. This was arguably the worst thing that ever happened to this country. No patriot should have anything but deep pain and sadness concerning this event. It’s almost 60 years later and it still brings me great pain. To put it simply, it’s a bad look and totally inexcusable to be grinning (regardless of the reason) during a time like this.

President Truman sent a Letter to be published that he specifically wanted on the front page of the Washington Post. That was the first paper that all the politicians would read first thing every morning. Truman was visited before the letter was printed by none other than the Ex-CIA Chief Allen Dulles to recend the letter and not have it printed. Truman told him he would not resend the letter and said it would be printed without any changes or omitance. He intentionally wanted the Congress and the Senate to know his sucspicions that the CIA had changed its original precedent of being a gatherer of intelligence only to an operational secret service that had gone beyond its original intent of gathering all the intelligence from military and other governmental agencies and combining them into a reasonably decipherable context for the President and Congressional intelligence commitees. He was wary of the CIA involvement in the Kennedy assasination.

U mean they were jealous cos jfk was a better military strategist and diplomat than all of them and he was provoked into a fight with all of them, very nearly alone apart from Robert Kennedy? I think this is so.

@@mikegraham1555 You are correct. I have read that President Truman started writing the letter within days of the assassination of President Kennedy. Truman also gave the Washington Post explicit instructions to print his letter on December 22, 1963 - which would have been EXACTLY 1 month after the assassination. Truman was clearly not happy, and was trying to send a strong message. Truman later sent a letter to Look Magazine (a popular magazine at that time), in which he reiterated his message concerning the CIA.

I've read/studied 5 books on the JFK Assassination, all of which were authored by those who were insiders & in the know on what went on behind the scenes. I, too, am convinced that LBJ was the mastermind to the assassination. He wanted JFK killed. When he spoke at Andrew's Air Force Base his tone of voice was as shallow as the water draining out of a tub. "This is a sad 'tahm' for all people." The testimonies of those who knew LBJ made scathing remarks about LBJ before, during and after the assassination. LBJ was a monster, and he wasn't the only one.

I read Roger Stone's "the man who killed Kennedy the case against LBJ" and it's undoubtedly one of the best books I've read in 2022. LBJ was in fact extremely complicit in JFK'S assassination to escape prison time and gain even more power.

It is readily evident that LBJ worked with J. Edgar Hoover to obstruct justice in the investigation of JFK's assassination.

But Johnson seems to be making a new beginning with the blessings of Dwight Eisenhower ,thus with a satisfaction of continuing the administration from whom Kennedy took.

@Ms. Bhat I was 12 when President Kennedy was assassinated. If you were not alive then, it would be extremely difficult to imagine the tremendous shock and grief that our country was in at that time. Many people were also afraid of a possible attack on the United States by Russia. I think that many of our nation’s leaders were actually trying to be strong for the country - to elevate the mood of the people, and to qualm any fears that we might have. To let us know that even though this was a horrendous tragedy, we would unite and get through it together. I have never been a big supporter of Eisenhower, and I intensely disliked Johnson. But, in all fairness, President Eisenhower had come to Washington, DC that weekend to attend the ceremonies and funeral for President Kennedy. It would not have been appropriate for President Eisenhower to not pay a visit to President Johnson while he was in Washington at that time.
