I usually use the machine's own boom and bucket to put them back on but that was anchoring the machine from sliding down the bank. I have to explain everything.

I appreciate that you have kept making video's, because i know you're swamped with work, and this takes a lot of time. It certainly takes some smarts to get the track back on without another excavator doing the muscle work. I can remember back in the day using come-alongs to align the track on an HD5- pulling a breaking plough. It actually derailed when I hit a rock buried in an ant hill. My Uncle Bill, who I was working for thought it was funny.

When I was working on an old John Deere tractor electrical problems I strung out continuity wires to test for wiring loom wire continuity, was crazy how many wires wear and break. You almost need a helper thumb that can active switches. When I worked on network cables I bought a repeater that would pulse on the network wires to determine which conductor was broken.

When I was about six, I was with my grandfather when his D2 threw a track on a rough brushy hillside. Even as a little boy, I understood the difficulty and (seeming) hopelessness of the situation. Grandpa did fix it--release tension, wedge the tracks back over and roll the sprocket. Brute force, finesse, and patience.

Had my fair share of tracks coming off in bad spots. Most of the time it was in winter just to make things nicer.😂 Worst one was a 50 tonne tracked mobile crusher that decided to throw its track in the middle of January, in the middle of the muddiest part of a demolition site. It had just come off the low loader and was the first machine on site so no excavator to help put the track back on. That day will go down in history. Well done on your efforts man, you got 'er. 👏👍

Many years ago, I worked for GE and we installed radios into industrial equipment. For the butt connectors, the techs wouldn't just crimp. The connector is a cylinder with a slot. They would crimp one of the flaps onto the wire and then fold the other flap over it and crimp. The connection didn't look like a heart, it looked like a partial cinnamon roll if that makes sense
