Much love to you friend. These days the former Warsaw Pact countries are our strongest allies. The Poles, Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians. Romanians, Czechs, and Slovaks. Hungarians and Bulgarians. They remember the Soviet scourge in Eastern Europe. Acting like they were liberators. The USSR sucked and there is no surprise why all of these countries joined NATO.

@@joevail6959 I confirm 100%. The russians poisoned our last tsar (i.e. king) Boris III in 1943 because Stalin knew our monarch was negotiating the outcome of the war on the side of the US & the Allies. After they poisoned him, the commies made a coup and ruined my country, which was an agricultural heaven before 1945 and turned it into the sh*thole it is today. Not only that but they killed hundreds of thousands of our middle and higher class, officers, doctors, teachers, monks and preachers without trial. Bulgaria was literally erased, aside from the language and the orthodox faith. Please never stop supporting Ukraine. Russia has been a global devil for long enough and you're 100% right that we (the eastern europeans) understand, support and want the role which US has globally. If it wasnt for the US mainly but also for the UK & Commonwealth and other native-English speaking nations, we'd be all gone now.

Going through USMC Boot Camp was the most memorable piece of my life. I went to USMC Boot Camp in '06. My SDI and DIs claimed that we would remember them more vividly then any of our school teachers.
I still remember my DIs voices, postures, faces, and every life lesson my SDI gave me.

Every recruit training program, no matter the service, is designed provide a base of physical ability and knowledge over the cross section of recruits. Some will find the training less difficult then they thought, some will find it more so. This baseline standard prepares the recruit for service after recruit training no matter the occupational field. I went through Parris Island in 1962, served 27 years, and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant (E9). Some things have changed, but the program is the same.

Graduated with platoon 2022 women in 1991 Parris Island. You never forget the sounds, the smells, the stress, the rotten helmet that thousands of other recruits used before me. How I was yelled at to repel. The gas chamber and the confidence they instilled in you of your life-saving mask. Having to be alert the moment your eyes opened. Classroom time in the A/C was the worst while fighting to stay awake. Recruiter Fleming was our guide. Recruit Miller from LA bunked beneath me and complained when I got the platoon in the pit when I got caught eating a packet of syrup in the walk-in reefer. The male NCOs and COs with sexual misconduct and lack of respect for a woman in their uniform were trash. God forgive them. Oorah. Semper Fi. Love my Marine Corps.

After Graduation we found out their purposes. Waiting at Main side for the buses to take us off PI we met them in the slop chute & were shocked when they called us over bought us a drink. They then explained what their purpose in Boot was & our attitude & feelings sure changed. We all thanked them for the job they making us Marines.

Joined after 9/11. Parris Island. Never really saw female DIs. We had old gear from the desert storm days. It was tough training. I had a heat stroke on one of the runs. The crucible was a bitch. Some of our DIs had returned from Afghanistan. Iraq had just kicked off. DIs would still put their hands on you back then. I think all that stopped after the recruit drowned in the early 2000s. I've talked to Marines who have went through around about 2008 and they said it has changed a lot.

I graduated PI boot in the 50s & from what I can see of current boot there are a few things we went through that is now practiced. Oh! The was different also my pay was $78 per month. There training regulation because of an incident whim at the rifle range when 6 boots drowned on a late night forced March into the swamps. I’m sure that boot camp is basically the same except for few changes because of that incident. OORAH!!!

In 1971, we weren't allowed to call home. Finally, after about 6 weeks, we were training with the pugil-sticks (google it). Our platoon was going up against another platoon. Our Platoon Commander privately told us that he would give a phone call home, or a hamburger and coke to the first recruit that drew blood. I ended up going up against a smaller recruit whose protective helmet didn't fit him. When we charged each other, his helmet bounced around to the point where he couldn't see and I caught him with a "vertical butt stroke" (google it). It knocked his helmet off and bloodied his nose. I took the phone call. My first call to my wife who I had married 6 months prior to my going into the Marines.
