This is a nest on a barge in Port Lincoln South Australia. It is at the entrance to the Lincoln Cove Marina. The Ospreys have been nesting here prior to us purchasing the barge in 2015. We moved the nest from another barge to this current barge as it is higher out of the water and more stable. We then installed a security camera and solar panels so that we can watch the nest 24/7. Our Osprey don't migrate, and we don't have problems with predators, but in the past, we have had lots of siblicide and yet there was always plenty of fish being delivered.
The nest is 1.25m by 1.5m.
The daily highlights and previous history of this nest can be viewed on the Port Lincoln Osprey Facebook page - / portlincolno. .

There is no CROW clinic in this country? Or another rehab clinic or one that offers help to animals?

      Going to death by straving.

It was moving -but very slightly. If a chick is not fed, it dies from starvation. I want to see either parent carry the dying chick out of the nest.

They monitor the nest, but do not preserve Life. It would be better if they didn't monitor it, because they watch the animal dying without anyone to help it. A cruelty, lack of humanity. It's shocking.

This is nature. These cams are not in place for rescue mission purposes. They’re in place to give us the rare opportunity to LEARN about this species.
When choosing to watch these live cams, YOU accept the responsibility of knowing that what you’re going to see, isn’t always going to be favorable. Can’t mentally handle their behaviors? Don’t watch, pumpkin. That’s just common sense. This isn’t a Disney movie, princess.

@@Butterfly-mt5ml Exactly. Watching them die is an important part of learning about how these or any species live. It is how something lives that tells us most about why they die. With all due respect to #3 and #2, and #1 if she doesn't make it, they will do more for science and conservation than all of the ospreys who starve to death in other nests that aren't observed on nest-cams. Here it is important to note the word 'observed' rather than 'monitored'. It's a very important distinction.
Juliana, I do not wish to criticize your emotional reaction; in fact I respect it's honesty and humanity. We should all recoil from witnessing the minutia of a dying bird's last moments. Personally I find it interesting and captivating, but I absolutely understand your take, and though I disagree, as I have detailed above, I can only reiterate my belief that, in the long run, en masse, opting not to save individual birds from these scenarios will do exponentially more good for the entire species.
Butterfly, you don't have to be condescending and insulting to get your point across. You clearly have some growing up to do yourself.

Welp, thanks for your 2 cents, however, I could care less of your opinion of me. You know what they say about opinions, correct? 🤣
