I had a 1989 one back in 2003, Me and my day had it for ten years between us,great car It was an automatic and drank fuel but was comfortable, My dad isn't here anymore but this brings back lovely memories 👍
I have a 540i that I've recently manual converted, it's just superb. Such a joy to drive at any speed. It's a loss you can't buy cars as good and simple as these now days! Quality and logic at their best.
I’ve had several Mercs and BMWs and my current daily is a 94 530i. I agree with you, Mercedes, are a bit more refined, and a little more elegant to drive but this E 34 is definitely worth a look
At one time in the late 80s /90s was a big fan of BMW and returned to the UK with a new 325i with all the trim etc A few years later bought the 840i which was superb. Had it 3 years and bought a Mercedes 350SL which was a special/ last edition model with two small rear seats. It was like a tank!!!! Kept it 6 weeks and traded it for a BMW Z8. Kept that for 5 years and sold it for almost what I paid for it. Why oh why didn’t I keep it. Had Mercedes ever since simply because BMW lost their way in design and I just do not their shape. On the other hand I think Mercedes have improved their design over the years and glad we have two of them now. Thank you for another great review……….Quite miss my business trips to Aus
Beautiful old motor! :) My current drive is a W204 C63 AMG, my previous was an E39 M5...love them both and they are both fantastic cars, but if I was forced to decide, I would say the E39 is the best car I've owned.
Greetings from Ireland and from a BMW fan boy who also appreciates Mercedes. Great video too. My view is that Mercedes was ahead of BMW during the 70s, 80s and 90s particularly with the WI24. Amazing car. But I feel they have lost their way in the last 10 to 15 years. Don’t get me wrong they still have produced some classics but I feel the build quality and interior stying has let Merc down
I love the E34 I have and when you mentioned the seats, you are correct as to the comfort. I believe the leather is buffalo hide. Thanks for your video!
My 1994 530it (station wagon) usa spec has 223,000 or so miles on it and runs well. It does have some deferred maintenance. Common e34 issues in my experience: Window regulator clips. Pro tip, u can cut down a clip and fit it into the 3rd arm if that ball socket slider clip (apparently not sold separately) fails. Wagon hatch wires will break in the loom. The 3.0 V8 is exactly like the 4.0 V8 and doesn't have the later 4.4 engined timing chain guides problems due to a venter sprocket. And a dual chain I might add. The headliner will eventually need redoing upholstery wise. The door panels peel. The door check or brake can rip out from the body. I got mine w a bad tranny for cheap and I got a used unknown tranny and slapped it in. My preference is the E34 wagon. I am not as big of a fan of the sedan. The driver wiper should work well but thr passenger wiper likes to touch the hood. A buying kit is available from aftermarket forum sellers. The driver wiper can be used for less contact on the hood I believe. I'd definitely clean up and or change the blower motor resistor. It can cause a dash fire I believe. I haven't experienced it. Heat source near possible leaves and debris as it's near the blower motor. The e34 is a sturdy bmw. I've owned probaly half a dozen or a bit less various e34s. My deferred maintenance list is rather long but it still runs. It's done in my ownership about 23000 us miles at an entry cost of 600 dollars plus a 300 dollar tranny and oil changes and some parts. I don't see how EVs can compete with low used entry cost. Not everyone has 100 grand a house w a garage and a private plane like a thieving WEF member.
I own a 95 E34 530i a d I love my car. I just noticed a few differences on the one you previewed ani I wish mine had the wooden finish around the gear leaver end gear knob. It looks awesome. Better than the grey finish that mine got
I've had two 535i, one black, one gray, fantastic car, terrific driving experience, few mechanic problems. Cons: not that much luxury, limited truck space,
I would guess there is a BBS stamp under that center cap. Bmw did have BBS make may wheels over the years. If you want, I can take the cap off my 1994 530it estate/wagon/touring/karavan anytime to confirm. I think definitely BBS made e34 15x7 or so "Style 5" wheels.
@@spencermaiers8322 If your wheels have bolts along the rim then it is not original style 5. Please take a picture but include the whole wheel not just the hub cap.
This and the E39 were peak BMW. Special cars. Now BMW are no different to any other brand. What a shame. I’d quite happily have one of these, but I wouldn’t touch a new BMW. They can shove their turbo charged engines and digital displays where the sun doesn’t shine. And as for their EVs…🤢🤮

Can you review a w124 cabrio. Gorgeous underrated car.

Hi, I had a BMW 535 se in 1989 and I absolutely loved it. Great videos from you.
Steve in the UK.

Love the interior of that 5 series generation
Great review. Glad you are doing car reviews now. I like the way you present and do your reviews. Down to earth and honest. Keep them coming:)

These older car reviews are great! You should do more of these!

As a Merc fan boy I love a nice E34 or better E38 Beemer. That said there's probably 20 other Mercs I'd buy before I'd ever own a BMW😅
That is a beautiful example of a lovely car, I love the BMWs up to the 2010s but yes Merc just edge BMW out every time for me.

Have to agree with your comments the Mercedes and BMW. For me Mercedes is my brand .

I remember my father having one of these lovely sounding v8

Oh they where very popular with "collecters" in 1990s Russia
No Mercedes is unacceptable 😅.
Those wheels are BMW original style 5, not BBS.

How much would be a real value of 1992 M5 535i in very good condition with 130.000km for instant 10 aniver. Japan?
