Tristan Thomas having things run in the background is the purpose of more ram. You could jump between apps. Especially 3 party apps when more than likely built like apps of apples own making. If you notice apple struggles with restarting apps when you in another app. It’s not ideal for multitasking. But if your not into that it shouldn’t matter. It would be better for iPads for more ram though.

I don’t think I use very ram intensive applications, but as the average user, it wouldn’t be a problem. I can have all the apps I’ve download opened at once, and quickly swap between all of them. iOS is very well optimized. Most people close out apps when they’re done using them anyways. I’m unaware of the amount of ram iPads have, but I’m sure they should have more than iPhones because of the split screen multitasking. what I hate about Apple is that they took away the liberty to downgrade like it used to be. Jalbreak is the reason? yes, makes sense, but keep in mind how many of us who are not jailbroken, installed the latest update, then regret it. Apple should've provided older device with more signed iOS. iPad 2 gets 2 signed iOS: 6 and 8 which is nice, you can go back and forth try which is the best suited to your needs. To me, if you don't care about running newer apps, iphone 5s is best to stay on iOS 7 or 8. Mine is on 9.3, and I never plan to update ever. To compare my 5s with this video, mine is MUCH faster, although it's still pretty slow.

If a 2013 Android phone got Oreo, it would probably be faster than the iPhone 5S on IOS 12. Also, software updates on Android is getting way better thanks to Project Treble and Google enforcing developers and manufacturers to target newer versions of Android.

That is not how you test it. I don't care how much time app takes to launch, I CARE ABOUT how FAST does it SWITCH to an app once it's already open, does it lag when scrolling and opening submenus, typing etc.
