I have been using my 5S since mid 2014, and here are some things i can conclude after using it for 4 years: -Battery life is terrible now (lasts 3 hours for continuous usage, 6 hours for normal usage) -Still very powerful for a 2013 phone, but slow for today’s standards -RAM can barely keep more than 3 apps open -front camera is better than a lot of newer android phones out there -Lags quite a bit -Good enough for light users but heavy users like me will not be satisfied -runs surprisingly well on iOS 11 Anyway, this phone has served me good through the 4 years of owning it. I am gonna keep it as a piece of memory when my iPhone X arrives :)

Battery is terrible indeed, it runs out quite fast, thats why i always got my external charge dock with me. Their like $50.... $150 you get a while phone and case.... vs $1000 with no case...

compare an android to an iphone in terms of how long they last. iphones like the iphone 5 are still perfectly usable. androids from the same time are pretty much unusable. the quality is much higher with iphones. i personally love android and iphones but noone gives credit where its due. androids are amazing for things more tech-y and iphone is much better for the general consumer. but all in all most factors are better with iphones. the only downside is the price

For all my broke bitches I have a good news for you. Bought a 5S in November 2017. Upgraded it on IOS11 and works PERFECTLY fine! I have all apps that an average 21 year old needs and do some average selfies on it! Runs super fast and I’m not considering another phone for a while!
i bought my 5s back in december 2015 and it's no lie that it still does its job good. it's running ios 12, good camera, especially if you really work on it but i personally don't think it's the type of phone that one person should upgrade to this year. for one is the battery life. it is not the best, wouldn't say it's good either. if measuring on a scale, it's right underneath what you would call "a good battery life". if you're going to buy the 5s NOW, dig a little deeper on your budget and might as well get the 6 or 6s. sure, you could get its battery replaced, but if you want something that you'll be able to enjoy longer, then get the 6 iphones. the battery life's longer, and you'll just waste money on replacing batteries when you could get the 6 with a better camera. it's a good budget phone! it's the next generation after the 5, 5s, and 5c. you get a little bit bigger screen than the 5s, and the possibilities of it being able to run the future ios are higher than the 5.

If anyone knows of an unlocked similar sized unit what would it be? This is a new 32 g model with os7. I really can't go the refurbished route cause I am living in a 3rd world latin AM country and can't easily return it if it has issues.. My 5s is awesome and working very well. Just the occasional restores to flush out the crap data and just as fast as the day I got it. I can't even hold the new phones without dropping them. The 5s I can reach all 4 corners with my thumb holding with my palm. So convenient.

no, it will not get IOS updates after this year probably. And with the IOS updates, this phone has slowed down. Buy a SE or 7. If you are not able to purchase them with the money you have, then just buy the 5s

I went from the 5s to a galaxy s7, to an iphone 7, and to the iphone X.... and that jump from ios to andrioid back to ios and from the last years model was still a great leap because the X is an amazing phone for the most part....

i have been using an iphone 5s for 2 years and still it works perfectly.But the new ios 11 update had make its battery life a bit weaker.Yet, its very comfortable to hold and do our day to day work
I want to get a new phone because the display seems a bit small for me now but it’s still working great which is why im reluctant to ditch my 5s. I have been using it since march 2014... just got the battery replaced last month.

Still have it heh, it's nice but my battery drains fast like help, it won't even last 3 hours. But for a phone from 2013, it's impressive. It runs better than my new tablet haha.

compare an android to an iphone in terms of how long they last. iphones like the iphone 5 are still perfectly usable. androids from the same time are pretty much unusable. the quality is much higher with iphones. i personally love android and iphones but noone gives credit where its due. androids are amazing for things more tech-y and iphone is much better for the general consumer. but all in all most factors are better with iphones. the only downside is the price

For all my broke bitches I have a good news for you. Bought a 5S in November 2017. Upgraded it on IOS11 and works PERFECTLY fine! I have all apps that an average 21 year old needs and do some average selfies on it! Runs super fast and I’m not considering another phone for a while!

i bought my 5s back in december 2015 and it's no lie that it still does its job good. it's running ios 12, good camera, especially if you really work on it but i personally don't think it's the type of phone that one person should upgrade to this year.
for one is the battery life. it is not the best, wouldn't say it's good either. if measuring on a scale, it's right underneath what you would call "a good battery life". if you're going to buy the 5s NOW, dig a little deeper on your budget and might as well get the 6 or 6s. sure, you could get its battery replaced, but if you want something that you'll be able to enjoy longer, then get the 6 iphones. the battery life's longer, and you'll just waste money on replacing batteries when you could get the 6 with a better camera.
it's a good budget phone! it's the next generation after the 5, 5s, and 5c. you get a little bit bigger screen than the 5s, and the possibilities of it being able to run the future ios are higher than the 5.

Thinking of buying one right now. I only really use the phone and text and am not a heavy user.. I want a phone this size. Don't like anything from 5 inch screen and up size wise. Has os7 on it, new. If anyone knows of an unlocked similar sized unit what would it be? This is a new 32 g model with os7. I really can't go the refurbished route cause I am living in a 3rd world latin AM country and can't easily return it if it has issues.. Has to be unlocked of course.

I love and still still rockin my 16gb 5s., the only thing I hate about it is that’s it’s a constant reminder of my Galaxy s7 mistake. I got my 5s the day it came out and besides normal scratches from the years it’s perfect where 4 months after getting my galaxy the screen had horrible burn in and due to its designit’s impossible to fix right for under $200 where as my I can diy for less than $50
My 5s is awesome and working very well. Just the occasional restores to flush out the crap data and just as fast as the day I got it. I can't even hold the new phones without dropping them. The 5s I can reach all 4 corners with my thumb holding with my palm. So convenient.
I have been an android user for so long been using the galaxy s6 edge for over 3 years I have now sold my phone and got me a iPhone 5s 32 go for 130$ I can say that I am satisfied with this phone and I’m happy 2 be with Apple but I can say apple and Samsung are both amazing phones and I wil continue 2 use this phone till I die or unless I upgrade but I don’t need 2 lol
I’m very patient with mine,, I really don’t mind the little delays while opening the apps. The only problem I have is the battery drain. Sometimes I have to change it 3 times a day :(
I have that but sadly, not factory unlocked. I have to do the factory unlock but may cost me around 30-50$. So sad. But I think still worth it!

no, it will not get IOS updates after this year probably. And with the IOS updates, this phone has slowed down. Buy a SE or 7. If you are not able to purchase them with the money you have, then just buy the 5s
Sahith 13 buy the SE its cheaper, and the SE (well if its new it wont) will get the throttling soon since 6s users have this issue, and the SE came out just a short while after, i personally recommend the 6s/7, or if you have the money, get the X. I went from the 5s to a galaxy s7, to an iphone 7, and to the iphone X.... and that jump from ios to andrioid back to ios and from the last years model was still a great leap because the X is an amazing phone for the most part....
5s and Se look the same, just wait for next month or March to get Se2. I think Se2 would be a wise choice.
