My name is Kaiya Pelletier and I am documenting my metal journey as I discover and listen to metal music for the first time ever. I'm in my mid 20's and I've been a singer songwriter and performer for over 10 years. Currently I live in Stillwater, Oklahoma and I am in the process of recording my 4th album. I have a one year old Bloodhound named Rusty who we lovingly call 'The Turd'. I love Mexican food, collecting Stephen King novels, collecting CD's, vinyl's and cassettes and my favorite movies are tied between Jurassic Park and Alien.

What are your Top 3 Nile albums? Thanks for watching and have an amazing day!
1... Festivals Of Atonement (an 2022 HHR realease.. it's their best work in my opinion.)
2... What Should Not Be Unearthed
3... Black Seeds Of Vengeance
1. Vile Nilotic Rites got me into them
2. Annihilation of the Wicked
3. Underworld
@@imaKaiya #1 Annihilation of the Wicked #2 The Underworld Awaits Us All #3 in Their Darkened Shrines (#4 Those Whom The Gods Detest) 🤘🏽👏🏽
In Their Darkened Shrines
Black Seeds of Vengeance
I am only choosing two, because i am a contrarian.
1. Annihilation of the Wicked
2. Vile Nilotic Rites
3. Black Seeds
My top 3 Nile albums are still - 1) Black seeds of vengeance, 2) Annihilation of the wicked, 3) In their darkened shrines...
'Amongst the catacombs of Nephren-Ka' is at #4.
💯
Nile is the shit.. why would I not want to listen to every album? 😂 Catacombs is my favorite. Gates of Sethu might be my #2. Annihilation and In their Darkened Shrines also favorites.
Nile is the shit the new album is fire 🔥
my favorite switches between probably:
- Those Whom The Gods Detest
- In their darkened Shrines
- Black Seeds Of Vengeance
- Annihilation Of The Wicked
Nice sketches in this video ;) My favourite Nile album as a whole is Nephren-Ka, but the best track for me is Unas Slayer of the Gods off In Their Darkened Shrines - absolutely epic. Vile Nilotic Rites was such a welcome back for me after a couple of okay albums in a row.
Kollias is arguably the best out there. Great addition since Annihilation which is beloved by most us Nile's fans. Sad about Dallas leaving the band. Karl very cool taking a picture with me after a gig in NYC.
Songs I really dig are Ramses bringer of war, 4th arra of Dagonand of course Annihilation
Nile is excellent and unique... Very evocative music that brings you into this Ancient Egypt Ancient Gods and Goddesses trip, where you feel like you are there in those misty ages of time...
Top 3 death metal band for me all time 😤
Awesome video Kaiya!!! I do appreciate all your deep dives, reviews and reactions you upload!! My top 3 albums are Black Seeds, Nephren Ka and Annihilation. I adore you Hun, always so beautiful. Oh and I love your skits!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just keep hearing Colonel Sanders 🐔 🐥 🍗
I pretty much agree with the entire breakdown, the standout exception is The Underworld Awaits Us All. Initially I had a reaction similar to yours. There is not a lot to latch on to because while the songwriting and instrumentation are more brutal than many previous releases, the production isn't. However, I think that the techdeath-aspect does hold up and I think the album is a grower because the production at least lets us hear everything clearly. Since the compositions also still very much sound like Nile, I for one am going to let this album stew for longer.
Amongst the Catacombs blew me away when it came out...never heard anything like it. Was the beginning of my obsession with death metal
But I want to!
Karl is an insanely humble dude IRL, and also a practical encyclopedia on Egyptian and ancient middle-eastern cultures.
I've never cared for Nile for a while now, I think since I started my Extreme metal journey back in 2019. And with their newest album out, and how many people tell me "You love Death Metal? You like Egyptian mythology? CHECK NILE NOW!" So I gotta change that now..
Can you figure out how much it'll cost to fly from Texas to New York and back?
You do realize that shoutout is only going to increase my already overinflated sense of self-importance, right? 😂
Favorite Nile albums:
Black Seeds of Vengeance
Annihilation of the Wicked
Those Whom the God's Detest
I love Underworld. I saw them play some songs off that album live and they SLAPPED!!!
Ithyphallic is easily my favorite Nile album. All the songs are memorable, which I cannot say for most of their albums to be honest. I also think their best lyrics/concepts are on this album. I am biased because it was the first Nile album I listened to, but every Nile album has a few songs are exceptionally better than the rest, except Ithyphallic in my opinion. Every song on that album are equally enjoyable and great to me.
@@Agalloch1234 especially “Eat of the Dead”! That song was on repeat back in the MySpace days!
@@jonnybrohan My favorite song from the album.
Production on ithyphallic is kinda flat and at first I didn't much care for it, but it grew on me.
@@cavemanstyle1376 I don’t really care about the production on an album as long as it’s not extremely overproduced or physically hurts to listen to.
@@Agalloch1234 Just like you, Ithyphallic was my first so I also have that introductory bias from this album. Every song is killer and the production doesn't let it down if you equalize it well it sounds massive and clear. In retrospect though you can tell the band eased up a tiny bit on the intensity, and then returned all pissed off again with Those Whom... then they tapered off again with Sethu, returned hard with What Should... lol. They peaked with Annihilation though and then coasted on that for several years imo. I went off on a little tangent but yeah Ithyphallic is a masterpiece, a middle ground of sorts between old and new Nile. It was the last album from them where the guitars sounded fucking heavy and juicy and properly Egyptian fuelled, the riffs were memorable catchy. Afterwards they started to care too much about production and lost their original spark. I can't stand their last two without Dallas.
I think ithyphallic is a bit overlooked because of its production which can make it a bit flat and not as bass heavy and it came after annihilation of the wicked which was very well received
(and is better produced) so maybe a bit too much expectation but in my opinion that is probably my favourite of theirs just because the song writing is top notch and memorable
My biggest pride of my state is that Nile is from South Carolina
Thats really nice of you, but everybody must still listen to every nile album.
Agreed
Nile used ancient Egypt as an inspiration for their music, but are just southern tech death metal boys.
Why no one mentioned Unus slayer of the gods , my favourite with that great ending closing into the 11 min mark
I feel like everybody shits on Ithyphallic. Personally, I loved that album.
Back when I got into metal Nile was one of my top 3 go-to bands (beside Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse) and I have a lot of love for them. Those Whom the God's Detest was the album back then and it's still my favorite of them. Even the packaging of the digipack was unmatched.
However when Sethu came out I was so shocked, as the sound of it is completely out of my understanding and I sticked to the former albums and What Should not be Unearthed.
Was still very happy to finally see them live in ~2016 and the feeling of giant stones moved by slaves is 100% right there when on stage.
1. Those Whom the Gods Detest
2. Annihilation of the Wicked
3. Ithyphallic
Chief was the original vocalist up to Black Seeds. Joe Vesano took over on Darkened Shrines, and Dallas was the main vocalist for many years until he left.
Thank you, but I want to listen to every Nile album
I love the skits you adeed to this deep dive! Ive never listened to Nile before but your Mummy reference piqued my interest! Gonna go listen to Nile now! YEE!
Yay!! This comment made my day! I’m so glad you liked it. Have an amazing day and enjoy!
Thanks for making this! Nile are my favorite DM band! Been a fan since “Annihilation “ came out! Saw them open for Cannibal Corpse 5+ years ago and Nile stole the show. Anyways keep up the great content!
Everyone should definitely listen to all of their albums!
Also if your into Karl Sanders’ more folksy traditional Egyptian instrumentals check out his solo albums Saurian Meditation(2004), Saurian Exorcisms(2009) & Saurian Apocalypse (2022). Enjoy!
Colonel Sanders should watch all 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1 for lyric inspiration and start an Egyptian Sci-Fi side band that sh*t would be brutal lol.
You should check out this German band called Apep. They're another Egyptian themed death metal band. They just released their new album yesterday titled Before Whom Evil Trembles.
Oooo I definitely will look them up. I figured there were bands like Nile but nobody has really mentioned any until now. Thanks for watching!
Saw them on Wednesday they’re insanely good
Just lets be honest man... The latest album is total garbage.. idk why the f a bunch of people is praising it too much, metal community has become awful and a bunch of conformists who think everything is fantastic... thats why bands keep doing garbage these days
You need to clean the wax out your ears, every songs a banger, brutal the whole way through, great riffs, some of Karl's best songwriting, it's metal af and it blows vile nilotic rites away which wasn't a bad album.
For me, Nile are just really boring.
I think this is the first time I've heard anyone say anything complimentary about the production and mixing of Black Seeds. It's a great album but it's great in spite of the sound design.
18:17 😁
1. What Should Not Be Unearthed
2. Black Seeds of Vengeance
3. Those Whom the Gods Detest
In their darkened shrines
Annihilation of the wicked
Those whom the gods detest
Honorables: Black Seeds of Vengeance, The Underworld awaits us all
Don't particularly care for the rest of their discography, although the debut and Vile nilotic rites have their moments. Not a completely bad album among them though.
Mine is weird
Production - Black Seeds Of Vengeance. It's so murky and dark!
Song - The Essential Salts
Album - Annihilation Of The Wicked
LOVE THIS VIDEO MORE DEEP DIVES
🌹
Gotta say the skits made me stop watching
I appreciate your honesty! I had a blast doing them but I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Thanks for trying at least! 🩷🙏
Great vid as always! Annihilation is still my fav by them since it was one of my first real introductions into tech-death (totally not biased). Followed by Those Whom the Gods Detest and then In Their Darkened Shrines. Their new release is so fucking good though. It's going into my top 5 REAL quick.
1.annihilation of the wicked
2.catatombs
3.those whom the gods detest
