॥ప్రణమామి వాణీమ్॥
నైకాన్యకృత్యాని కరోమి బాల్యాద్
వివేకరాహిత్యబలాదిహాహమ్।
సన్మార్గకామాదవశిష్టకాలే
సద్బుద్ధిదాత్రీం ప్రణమామి వాణీమ్॥1॥
వైజ్ఞానికైర్దార్శనికైర్యతీన్ద్రైర్
విభూషితే శ్వేతశిలానికేతే।
భవ్యే ఘనశ్యామవినిర్మితేహో
తేష్ఠీయమానాం ప్రణమామి వాణీమ్॥2॥
శైత్యేహితే వా రుచిరే వసంతే
నితాంతఘర్మే శరది ప్రసంగే।
ఛాత్రైరశేషైర్వివిధప్రజాభిర్
భక్త్యోపయాతాం ప్రణమామి వాణీమ్॥3॥
వేదోక్తమంత్రైర్భజనైశ్చ నిత్యం
సుపూజితామర్చకభక్తవృందైః।
కర్పూరదీపోజ్వలితాగ్రకాయాం
శోభాయమానాం ప్రణమామి వాణీమ్॥4॥
విద్యావిహారాభిధసంకులాప్తాం
ప్రసారయంతీం కరుణాకటాక్షాన్।
శ్రీశారదాపీఠనివాసినీం తాం
విద్యాధిదేవీం ప్రణమామి వాణీమ్॥5॥
సుగంధికుంతలాంబాయాః
ప్రపౌత్రః ప్రణమామ్యహమ్।
వాణీవృత్తేన వాణీం చ
పంచపద్యప్రసూనకైః॥6॥
Here's the meaning:
#1 I have been committing many blunders since childhood as I am unable to discern good from bad. Wishing to follow the virtuous path at least in the remaining part of my life, I offer my obeisance to Vani who bestows good intellect.
#2 I offer my obeisance to Vani who is situated in a standing posture in the grand white-marble temple built by Shri Ghanshyam Das Birla which is adorned with sculptures of eminent scientists, philosophers and saints on its walls and pillars.
#3 I offer my obeisance to Vani who is approached with devotion by all students and others as well (staff, locals and tourists) in all seasons be it unfavorably cold winter, beautiful spring, hot summer or the autumn itself.
#4 I offer my obeisance to Vani:
- who is worshiped with Vedic chants and bhajans by the priest and groups of devotees
- who appears beautifully radiant as the front portion of her body is illuminated by the camphor light during dIpArAdhanam
#5 I offer my obeisance to that Vani:
- who is the titular deity of knowledge
- whose abode is the Sharada Peetha (the white-marble temple described in this poem)
- who is busy casting her benevolent glances
- in whom the entire Vidya Vihar campus (BITS, Pilani) places its immense faith
#6 I (the writer), the great-grandson of Smt. Sugandhikuntalamba, offer my obeisance to Vani with the above five verse-flowers set in the Vani poetic meter.

Ahaaaaa!! What ever I write may not do the justice. Don’t know how many times I have listened to this since morning. Every word is crystal clear and so beautifully rendered with devotion. Experienced full depth of your voice. Totally in love with this after ‘ Alaracancalamina’. At ‘శ్రీ శారదాపీఠనివాసినీం తాం' goosebumps and completely taken to a different world. Recital of Pranamaami Vaaneem is meditative!! You are truely truely so blessed. I want to write more but dont know what and how to write.
