Sampled by Mos Def aka Yasin Bey on his album Black on both sides. Unbelievable! I've had Mos' album since 1999 when it first dropped and never in my wildest thoughts did I know he was sampling music from my native country! Well at least I've finally found out...21 years later!..Wow
Respect to 9ja!
Yes sir
Me neither... My face just fell off!!!!!
Mos Def is a G. One of the all-time greats. That explains why black on both sides was so good.
Ok go check out Pete Rock's INI Grown Man's Sport.
How I wish today's AFRIKAN musicians were as liberated & fearless as King Fela. Soweto loves you. #LongLiveAnikulapo!

Much love for Fela, STRAIGHT FROM Africa-Mozambique.
Fela is a therapy.
Wow! I don't think anyone remembers this song (Palm Wine Sound) Thanks Baba Kuti.
Love and respect from Greece...rip Fela
Well said Marina. We too have a big music tradition in Greece, but this is something else, this music seems coming from the future! All the musicians around the world, every time they sell a single, should donate 1$ to kids of Nigeria, for this unique heritage.
FELA FELI CITATION
The Father of Nigerian Afrobeats for sure !!! He has persevered a lot of undeserved mistreatment and as a result left behind a treasue trove of memories that let the world know, nothing was going to stop his greatness of who he truly was. A proud Nigerian no matter what !!! Literally had the world at his feet of all those who has heard of him, and still does. RIP..
WOW!!!!! It ends too soon,......they could jam forever in this groove!!!
Right?! Forever and an eon.
Spiritual jam.. Na goat dey run, na man dey stand
The screaming significant and the horns ....powerful. ..

Yes indeed, the Black man must walk on faith alone through the pits of Hell and against the Devil, He is god's example, The testimony is real , and those who dont understand dont have him, Hallelujah Fela Kuti you are a hero, you are a freedom fighter , I salute you father , R.I.P Soldier God is with you.
Angels hold a pen keep a record in time
Which is passing and running like a caravan trader
The world is overrun with the wealthy and the wicked
But God is sufficient in disposing of affairs
I THINK I have been grooving with MAJOR major love and respect eternal to Egypt 80! I am hearing a slight difference here with Africa 70. Of course it is still Africa black president but its cool to hear a slightly 'younger' style. I too cannot let go of my brotherfatherherobluckafricaman! I am actually realising just how long I have been listening to Fela. I made people LISTEN and even though they didnt want to acknowledge, they got the message and the magic. So grateful for Fela. I met a German dude who lived in Nigeria. This guy made loads of money from a textiles company. When I heard he had lived there I asked him, "hey, do you know Fela?" He said of course! but Fela was a "scoundrel!!" I laughed so much. I couldnt help but end my association with that man. Hilarious.
I think Fela kuti was inspired by James brown’s “the boss [1971]” in the rhythm of this track.
Everybody say Yeah yeah!!

Wonderful Fela, nobody like him: great Pan-Africanist

Palm Wine Sound, the second sound in this video, feels so cameroonian, as I feel it at least ...ressembles makossa so much...
I see what you mean. It, too, sounded to me like Calypso. I got lost in the music. It touches the soul.
Fela Kuti the Greatest. Sounds like they are Jamming.
Fela the Great Legend.
Let us pray for the 21 who don't understand Father Fela.

Love. And. Respect. To. Tou. Baba. Fela. Rip
Fela does it again!!! the Best!!!
One of his bests
The discography dates on release of "TEACHER DON'T TEACH ME" is wrong. Album came out in early 1980's (1980 - 1981). It was out about the same time Pink Floyd (We don't need no education). Not sure who came 1st, my bet is Fela is the original. Fela customarily plays his music at his club (The Shrine) many months or years before pressing. Pink Floyd may have used the lyrical concept in its release. Please correct the discography.
Fela kuti , um mito da musicalidade mundial , eterno.....

Me too. I thought that I read on another song that she died as a result of being thrown out of a 2nd story window. I wonder who changed her tragedy.
