Nobody arranges horns like Fela. Amazing endurance and concentration. The inspiration is contagious. Timeless genius. Almost everyone sounds like an amateur next to Fela. His musical genius is under appreciated because the righteous message of Justice and Freedom is terrifying to the colonial mentality.
My country, Indonesia, is also a country with many islands and in each island many different tribes and faiths. Greedy monsters from other sides of the world have been trying to break us apart to get in and take what is ours. We are finally lucky enough to get a president that is smart and good. But greedy assholes that are still in the government and the dirty money folks behind them are still trying to create chaos or fear. Still using the same methods to make us hate each other. Fela's music and words are always giving us the strength and spirit to keep our guards up and always fight back as peacefully as possible. My friends and I fight with music. Not even shouting political messages, but through making platforms to show / making good alternative music (many times rooted in our own traditional music). All kinds of genres with all kinds of multi-generation audiences. And also through each of our everyday personal behaviour towards each other and others, as well as to mother earth. Thank you Fela Kuti! May your people have their true peace and prosperity in the near future.
"Having helped enslave Nigerians during the colonial era, Fela believed that in the post-colonial era both Islam end Christianity continued to undermine African social and cultural values" - Man he was so right. Religion keeps dividing us. That never was Jesus' message
It's true that God's message was lost throughout the ages because of religion, but true religion never divides the people. Imams and bishops through the mosques and churches did in the past and they still do it today. I am a Christian myself, but I have equal respect for all the people with all their various religious faiths and beliefs, as long as they are all tied to the universal message of kindness, positivity and love.

My god that bass, that drummer, that keyboardist, and those epic horns. So good it should be illegal.
It could be illegal (today), but certainly shouldn't. But back in the day it indeed was LITERALLY illegal.
Well it kinda was. Underground Spiritual Game
And drew me to the Devil's Horn.
