I found this video extremely useful and would recommend to anyone who gets their first purchase of air tag (like me) for a full understanding of the capabilities.
Update: we used an Apple AirTag in our luggage this week for the first time ever. On arrival in Greece I checked “Find My”, hoping it would be fun to pass the time seeing our luggage get closer. Found our luggage was still 1,782 miles away - for the first time ever our luggage had got lost! Anxious 30hrs till we got it back - but AirTag was really useful for information about where the case was when talking to airline staff.
Thanks! Information easily understood. I didn’t think my air tag was connected or working bc it wasn’t showing up air tag , your explanation allowed me to go further into the find my app and I found both of them. TYSM
I went into Find my app and cant find anyplace where my air tags show up. I know they are working and i know they are connected because i did that with no problem, but now cant find them in my phone anywhere.
@ I have iPhone 14+ my AirTag started beeping the other day so I went into my phone to the app. Find my phone. It did not show any AirTags and I have two of them on items so, where did they go? Did you ever find out?
@ I still haven't found my Find My phone app with my AirTags on them, but I did ask Siri and she brought up my two AirTags one with my purse. The other one with my keys isn't that odd
Great video and very informative for a beginner like myself. Not sure if this question was asked already, tried reading as many comments and responses as possible. But what is the battery life, like on this item. just curious if it's even relevant
How to set up if you have a 4 pack? Can you label the AirTag for 4? Can you leave one in your vehicle 🚗 to track vehicle in case it gets stolen or can’t remember where you parked?
Very helpful video. Can I put an AirTag inside my luggage or does it need to be on the outside? Also, I assume TSA does not have a problem with AirTags inside luggage, correct?
This good info is much appreciated. I have a question to gain clarification as it relates to how the Air Tag technology itself works. This is a technology aspect that I've yet to see anyone thoroughly cover in an "Air Tag" tutorial video. {SCENARIO} So, if I have an air tag in my backpack and it was thrown into a dumpster. How would I be able to see where the backpack is if it is 100 miles away from me? What is required in order for me to be able to see the backpack in its current location? Will I be able to see it in my "Find My" iPhone app, or is something else required in order for it to show up on the "Find My" screen? Thanks in advance for your time and reply.
In this scenario, someone with an iPhone needs to get close to the dumpster. As long as that iPhone can reach the Internet, it will send the location over the Internet to your iPhone where you can see it in the Find My app. You could be on the other side of the world and this would still work.
I have tried to connect these air tags to my phone and i think they are connected but i cant find anywhere to pull them up on my phone screen. My phone Apple SE 2nd gen must be too old? i know i have latest OS operating systems and bluetooth is connected. Not sure what to do next or how to find them.
i had an expensive bike stolen earlier this year and thought for the future I would use Airtags on all my bikes or other things that may get stolen or lost. The problem I noticed was that when I was hiking with my dog, which has an Airtag in his collar, the person I was hiking with detected the Airtag. Should this happen? I would'nt want a thief to know that I placed a Airtag on the item. Is there a way to make them undetectable to everyone but myself?
@@llilliliilliil Unfortubately my bike wasn't Airtagged. With my dog, my friend was walking with an got a notification of the Airtag on my dog, with the name of the Airtag that I named it. With a high theft item, I don't want anyone to know that there is an Airtag unless I give them access, Is this possible?
@@jeffsayegh328 Unfortunately it is not. Apple has to have this feature for safety reasons so it cannot be used illegally to track a person's movements, etc.
Very informative video. For those of us with vertigo issues, it would be better if you placed your iPhone on a flat surface whenever possible. The slight movement of your hand while holding your device causes some of us to feel sick. Before having this issue, I wouldn’t have even noticed the slight movement. Thanks!
Once you have set up the AirTag you could turn Bluetooth off on your phone, the Find My app will still show you the location as detected by other iPhones.
How can I use AirTag to prevent theft? Will it warn me if an item is being moved? Or do I have to wait until I finally realize that something is missing then set it in “lost” mode? And hopefully it’ll get picked up by someone else’s phone. Also, wouldn’t it warn the thief that the stolen item has an AirTag attached so he can destroy it to prevent it from being tracked?
If the thief has an Apple device, it will warn him when he gets home that there is an unknown AirTag tracking his movements. The owner of the stolen item can track his lost item until the time the thief gets home. If the thief has an Android device, he will be warned that he was being tracked after a certain period of time. I think that’s how it works.
I lost an airbag. One keeps showing up as left behind. Do not want to disable it because I do not know what it belongs to. The option to ring is unavailable. How can I find what this airtag is connected to or if it is the lost one?
This video was a Godsend!! I found your video 100% useful, and learned so much. “Anyone” who says it was 98% hot-air is an idi*t and complains because her mother taught them to use a spoon. 🙄
Kind of baffled on the notification process. Apple certainly has the capacity to facilitate the emails without your having to give your email and contact info to a total stranger. Doesn't Apple know when the tag's been scanned and where it is? Seems like it could just email the owner this information. As is, probably a best practice to create an Apple ID alias rather than using a primary address.
One of the AirTags I just activated, which was placed in his car in the glove compartment in case he gets directionally confused just says at our address even though he drove it today. Glove compartment doesn’t have a lot of metal, and if I use the ping directional finder, if I get close enough, my phone can find it. Any ideas as to what is going on?
Could be that nobody with an iPhone got close enough to it. AirTags are passive devices, they don’t constantly transmit their location. Instead when an iPhone gets close enough, the iPhone detects the AirTag and sends its location over the network.
Hi I am a new user and have found this AirTag to be a big CON , ok my wife leaves the house and 15 min later I check FIND MY and it shows she is still sitting in the drive way !!!! I then try 1 hour later and still shows in the driveway, so how is this any good in tracking my wife and my CAR , biggest waste of money !!
This is probably happening because she doesn’t have an iPhone and isn’t getting close enough to other iPhones. AirTags only work when they are close to iPhones.

Sorry to say that I found this very unhelpful. You explained the obvious very well but but the other stuff seemed not to match up at all with my Air Tag.
I heard Apple made it so if someone took your AirTag, it would notify them that there is an AirTag in their pocket or their purse so that makes it no good for a security device on my super expensive Robot lawnmower because it’s going to tell the thief that it’s there they’ll remove it and throw it in the ditch is this true? You didn’t dwell on that
Yes, if somebody with an iPhone steals something with an AirTag on it, and takes it someplace, after a while their iPhone will warn them about this. Apple did this to prevent creeps from hiding an AirTag in a woman’s purse etc. to stalk her, etc.
You cannot tuen off the beeping sound when your AirTag goes off in your luggage when you are not connected to blue tooth. It will not stop beeping until someone is within range and has access to your AirTag to make it stop beeping. Apple does not have that feature. Apple also will not readily admit or acknowledge this and dances around d this information. I would not use this product for anything. It sucks.

Depends on the battery brand and age. Be forewarned-take the batteries out when not in use. Otherwise, they will drain and die.
You can twist off the metal cover and remove the battery.
Take out the battery
Ok got it! Remove the battery! Thanks.
As a newbie I was thrilled to learn so much about the airtag in such an easy and straightforward way. Thanks a bunch

Very nice, concise instructions for quickly getting up to speed on the AirTag. Thank you!

I would like to put this on my kids bags or clothes, do I have to put in lost mode all the time?
No. Regardless it will show it in the Find My app.

I’m assuming you can leave an AirTag in your car so that you can find it easily in a large parking lot or parking deck?
You could leave one in it just in case someone steals the car too ;)

When you buy multiples do you have to go through the entire procedure for each one?
Yes. Set each one up and you can assign each one a name to identify what item you are tracking.

If the thief has an Apple device, it will warn him when he gets home that there is an unknown AirTag tracking his movements.
