If you truly want to experience Herobrine like you’ve always thought it’d feel like, search up the mod “From the fog”. It adds herobrine… but he never attacks you like other herobrine mobs. He will vanish as soon as the game detects that you see him

In the caves I can’t shake the feeling that I’m being watched, and every footstep I hear makes me paranoid, even for a second as I realise it was just the pigs in the farm I have I definitely recommend it, especially if one prefers more subtle and atmospheric horror
As a mod Dev, the most supported theory is it was a glitch in the code that led to the old human mob spawning in the fog, with the fog covering the eyes. This is also supported by Notch, as the Removed Herobrine changelog was a reference to the human mob code being removed.
Personally I like to think Herobrine isn’t some malevolent entity that wants to kill/terrify you. I think he’s just an odd presence that made itself a home in the game, and doesn’t actually want to harm the player but wants to make its presence known to them (eg. leaveless trees, pyramids in the ocean and tunnels). However he doesn’t seem to realize that these activities scare the players that bear witness to them, and therefore keeps doing it in order to make contact, unaware that he’s scaring the players away.

When you return to either dimension, you may find somethings are slightly different. Nothing destroyed or anything, just little changes once in a while, like someone else had been there. :)
He is a personification of the weird feeling we get when playing alone. The lack of any real sentient human life and lack of lore and explanation of the emptiness. No ambience and the weird fact of the Music discs. The eerie feeling everyoke gets from the cave noises. He is a construct. A figment of our imagination and uncanny vibes.
I find it wholesome that Mojang decided to play along with this little inside joke. They could have just said "Nah, Herobrine's not real, shut up." Like any other company would with a hoax. But no, they played along, and they kept it alive. I find that wholesome
I honestly with that they really added herobrine, as a secret mob that u can only summon using commands. Honestly that would be cool but all of the kids playing it will probably get so scared that they would stop playing it because they didn't know that mojang actually added it lol.
Hilariously I still get slight chills seeing the herobrine image in worlds and and even in the herobrine mod, when I see him appear out of nowhere my heartbeat increases for about half a second. It really goes to show how we were trained to react to seeing herobrine over the years.
Man u are wholesome. Like, literally. Despite being a creepypasta, herobrine brings joy to us when school hits us bad, when parents treat us bad. Its like a big part of our childhoods. Herobrine could be fake but the memories he gave us as a growing kids isnt and it will always remains in our hearts as we grew old. And thank you for reminding me that. U are awesome man.
If anything, most people think Herobrine comes the Nether, but I honestly think if this was a story game and he wasn’t a bug, he would be some experiment gone wrong. That’s all I’m saying.
You're commentary is fanatic. You have a great narrative voice. This urban legend is terrifying and the person who created it is awesome. But Herobrine NEEDS to be a thing. There needs to be an EXTREMELY tiny chance of him spawning but it needs to be added in my opinion. It would definitely get players back in the game who have recently abandoned it
At this point Minecraft should include a minor Easter egg to celebrate Herobrine’s legacy. I’m not suggesting he actually spawn and spook people, but maybe something like a painting or even a new cave sound saying his name or something. :)
@@jordansouza2195 Haha true. The MC devs seem very open to the community's ideas. :) But, my idea might still be a bit far out, since it seems like they're trying to distance themselves from making Herobrine canon.
I wanna know who made the og Herobrine post. I don’t care if they confirm or deny the authenticity of the screenshot, I just wanna know how they feel about what they’ve created.
The Community builds itself. It starts with the creator, the one who brought it to life. It continues on with the members, those who support the creator and their ideas, and interact with each other to keep the development of said community going. Herobrine might have never existed in the actual game, but the Minecraft community made him real, through screenshots, mods, informational videos and stories. Herobrine was one of the major things that made me join this community. It's thanks to his legend and impact on players that I am even here to begin with. That urban legend reminescent of a low-quality screenshot of an old version of a cube game literally was the reason I met my best friend, when I walked up to them and said "Hey, do you know Minecraft? Ever heard of Herobrine?" The community made Herobrine real, and though he is barely ever mentioned nowadays, I'm sure he was the cause of fear to several players, that, just like me, were terrified of encountering him around the world.

Back in the days when Minecraft could be played in your internet browser. The days when the pre 1.6 launcher, and it's save files could be stored on a flash drive. I miss taking Minecraft with me wherever I was to go.
The original herobrine uploader probably was just making a scary story joke for his friends and then it was noticed by millions mojang and even the teacher in the now fallen monster school series
I absolutely love this video!! The editing is superb, and you detailed the story of Herobrine so well. As someone who has played Minecraft since 2012, I really appreciate this.
Herobrine is a name I have not heard in a long time. It was once a commonplace name in the minecraft youtube community. Mod showcases, lore videos, machinima animations- was basically a widely known reference to minecraft. I'm sure people still know who he is, but his presence has seemingly withdrawn from online discourse. I can't recall the last time I've seen him referenced in any video I've watched, at least not since around 2016, maybe 2017.
I remember seeing the first image as a kid and I never thought it was really a ghost or entity or whatever, but the idea of possibly running across a bug like that always creeped me out. Minecraft could be scary at times!
It’s kind of funny how in a lot of those videos the RUclipsr doesn’t even sound scared of Herobrine even though it’s supposed to be a creepypasta. Very strange stuff here.
The fact that he isn't the only one is just sad... I'd be able to make a similar quality of content but I know, no one will watch it because of this damn algorithm. Try to only watch people who have under 100k subs and the algorithm will only give you small channels. These mostly have this quality. This is also why I'm here.

its weird to think that something like herobrine can never be recreated in minecraft. theres smth about how desolate and lonely old minecraft was that made it perfect for an urban legend like this. i dont think that can really happen again in modern minecraft just bc of how full of life and lacking in mystery it is now. its kinda sad ngl
I'm surprised you didn't talk about Herobrine lake or the Herobrine documentary by KDProductions. It was not only a huge part of herobrine's legacy, but also my childhood.

In the launcher all the mobs eyes except for Alex, wither skeletons and the ghast are filled in with glowing white. I know it’s insignificant and probably just a joke by the artists, but I think it’s funny that the devs are playing along.
I wasn't afraid of Herobrine at all as a kid, not even my brother was. When I asked my brother if I could play MC with him on his Xbox 360, he said the he and his friends were fighting Hero-Brian(lol). He and his friends weren't afraid of him, and when I finally played MC all on ym own, I'd call him out and look 4 him all the time, but looking back at my memories, APPARENTLY I've missed Herobrine like 12,000 times bc I would see like a blue-ish/purpl-ish figure in the distance that I thought was just a flower, but apparently had skin which I thought was just my brother's friend. But I wasn't afraid of him at all, I would try to fight him at all costs, but I'd never catch up with him, and it was then I realized he was fake, but now I'm questioning if he was fake then what was that thing I kept seeing? Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I was fearless when I was like 4 and I still am to this day, and none of you should've been afraid either.
@No One Herobrine was AFRAID of what I can do, because most people don't know this, but I'm(ACCIDENTLY) VERY smart in real life AND in Minecraft and.. other games. He's SEEN that while I've been looking for him, so if anything, he's AFRAID. I've set up mechanisms and I practically have superpowers in survival at this point so he's not touching me anytime soon...
I feel like it would be such a cool thing to have been added for real. Something that the game did to fuck with players from time to time, just based on the behaviors outlined in that original post. Make a mob that sometimes loiters near players in their line of sight at a distance dictated by draw distance settings, retreating out of the line of sight after X seconds spent in view of the player, or if the player gets even closer. That sort of thing
I love how back then we were absolutely scared of him but now we treat him like an old friend

I find it wholesome that Mojang decided to play along with this little inside joke.
They could have just said "Nah, Herobrine's not real, shut up." Like any other company would with a hoax. But no, they played along, and they kept it alive. I find that wholesome
They actually did try to stop it, but they gave up.

Ever heard of Herobrine?"
The community made Herobrine real, and though he is barely ever mentioned nowadays, I'm sure he was the cause of fear to several players, that, just like me, were terrified of encountering him around the world.
Man, I wish Herobrine could be scary again and not just be clickbait material for those shitty 3am Monster School tomfoolery.

I wonder if the guy who uploaded the first picture of Herobrine even knows how big it got. I find it odd that he hasn't taken credit.

15:12 I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS VIDEO AS A KID AND BEING SO FREAKED OUT 💀💀💀
🧑🦱🧑🦱🧑🦱
Thank you so much for your original Herobrine sighting video on Xbox 360. So many memories
I fear no man, but that... thing... IT SCARES ME
I feel like it would be such a cool thing to have been added for real.
