"The more songs you write, the more you become hidden. Sad fisherman was one of the first songs, I wrote while still playing with my first band "Fisher". Perhaps a bit of a farewell. Jeremiah filmed it while we were exploring the 10th Arrondissement where our Manager Patrick David lived and we crashed during our first couple of shows in Paris. The canal Saint-Martin then was a fishy place, police would pull dead bodies out of the water in the morning. Chirac was still president with Sarkozy looming at the horizon. Cat power released “the greatest”. At the time I listened to a lot of American folk music. But it was also the year of TV on the radio’s first shot, return to cookie mountain. Obwohl ich einige CDs von Sophie Hunger besitze gehört dieses Video zu meinen Favoriten.
Der Song ist auf ihrer ersten CD "Sketches On Sea" von 2006. Die wurde in ihrem Wohnzimmer aufgenommen, die Qualität ist erstaunlich gut.
Anekdote: nach einem Konzert im Berliner Kesselhaus gab sie Autogramme. Ich hatte mir "Sketches On Sea" geholt und gab sie ihr zum signieren. Sophie: diese alte CD hast du dir geholt? Einige Tracks sind etwas schräg! Ich: alle anderen hab ich ja schon! Wir haben beide gelacht. Schöne Erinnerung!
