Iowa wasn’t the best because of its firepower though, it was the best because it had great armor for its size, better speed for its weight, and even better accuracy than other battleships. Another thing that worked to its advantage was the damage control training the crew had. Even if it was hit, you can bet it’s going to be a very lucky shot to bring it down.

All depends on what type of attack the starship wants to protect itself against. Also depends on who attacks first then.

It’s kind of hard to do and justify in the modern times. You’d need depleted uranium for armor, the best CIWS for anti missile, and a nuclear based energy source to move it. That’s IF you can get it to move, cause the buoyancy due to such heavy armor would be questionable at best. After all of that, you’d need a justification for it.
