Yup thats the UK for you....Never ending road works EVERYWHERE!!!! The roads are full of pot holes, the whole road network including motorway network way over capacity. Endless queues, endless traffic jams, its horrendous -.- and to top it off we now have over zealous councils using ANPRs that screw you. Oh and not to forget the biggest waste of money ever - Smart Motorways -___-
Well we are still a lot wealthier, our infrastructure is falling a part because of its age. Our motorways are 60+ years old and road networks in cities 100s of years old, not allowing for expansion. Then there is EXTREME bureaucracy where it takes a decade to get anything done. HS2 (our new high speed train) consultations started over 10 years ago and the first phase (150 miles) wont be completed until 2026. China has built over 16000 miles of high speed rail tracks in the last 20 years. The comparison is truly shocking 150 miles against 16000 miles....
It's designed that way. Tidal flow system. Allows them to alter the number of lanes in each direction based on congestion levels. Works pretty well actually!!
