I wouldn't be able to do the 144 pound one but would try it because a dollar is nothing to me. Apparently 10 dollars is nothing to the guys who could lift it, because it's blatantly obvious that the guy almost Brian's size was the only one with a non zero chance at the 176. Guy in the Rockies hat had my energy, he thought about it for a second because it was obvious to him he couldn't do the 144. Then he remembered he was giving up 1 dollar.
I feel like Brian could do amazing going to schools and putting on a little show. I think it would help kids open their minds in lifting as a sport, and not just soccer/football. Just imagine kids seeing Brian lift some Atlas Stones or doing the hummer tire deadlift.
One thing I like about Brian Shawnis he encourages everyone equally and congratulates them even if the don’t lift one. Understand why he’s been at the top 4 times, he’s got heart.
He knows how hard it is to get there. And it honestly doesn't look that hard, and i say that knowing that i could probably only do the first one and maaaaaybe half-assing the second one because i have big hands
What is also amazing about Brian Shaws strength, is the fact his arms and legs are so much longer, so he has a considerably longer range of motion. And he's seems like a generally nice guy...what a role model to those kids and us grown ups who still act like a kid!!! 😄
Imagine a cameo appearance of Anatoly randomly popping by, lifting each weight with one hand just to sweep the area with a broom, dropping the weights back down and saying his usual, "Sorry sorry. I'm cleaner. This is good weight. Thank you." 😂
True, that would be hilarious but IDK if even he could do it ... Sure the high end ones are heavy but it's not so much the weight as the center section diameter that gets everyone ...
@@johnpesaturo2822Agreed. I'd like to think that he can get the first two though. Maybe 176? But then again, even rock climber Magnus struggled with 172.
Thank you for this video. Watching ordinary men, several of whom looked to be fairly strong, struggling to lift just the second dumbbell gives a clear idea of the enormous strength of Mr. Shaw.
This is a great content, must do more at different places and with different ideas. By the way, the dumbels are gradually small to big in size according to their weights. But when you look from the angle of smaller weight, they all look exactly the same in size. Perspective tricks are so interesting.
I'm glad you guys are showing grip strength as it's been overlooked for too long. Your grip & forearms need to be trained as any other body part. It's the 1st connection to ANY exercise & can make or break you. Want to add 10-20lbs to your bench? Train your forearms if you don't normally do.

I liked how they coached the guy to use two hands, to beat them. He failed on number two weight. But proves they aren't lunks. Also impressed that the people are using legs, some do back lifting. Bad idea, lifting with back, lift with legs.
I like that you're a giant that could throw a Prius through my house, but you're also such a wholesome, nice person that you'd then strap on some new balances and help me fix the house while saying "lawn looks nice there guy" 😂
" And then the kids spent the whole ball game watching ShawStrength on the youtube." Putting strongman events in a heavily populated area and letting the public compare strength with the best? That's a whole marketing degree right there. No better way to get more eyes on the sport.
Now that Brian has done competing in strongman, and not having to worry about a wide range of lifts to be ready for, id love to see him focus on bench deadlift overhead press and squat, see how strong he can get.
Tbh it's mostly dependent on the size of your hand, not your grip strength. If you have small hands you cant even wrap around at all so you are at a disadvantage. If you have big hands you can grab and wrap it making it much easier. It's like the grip stones, someone with a small hand can't even wrap 1/3 of them bc they're using finger tips to grip instead of having big long hands where you can grip with your hand entirely.
