IDAHO FALLS - Marshall Hendricks offered an emotional apology Monday to the family of the man he is convicted of killing.
During a sentencing hearing at the Bonneville County Courthouse, District Judge Dane Watkins ordered Hendricks, 31, serve an 11-year fixed sentence with 25 years indeterminate. Watkins also imposed a $5,000 compensatory fine and an additional $5,000 fine.
A jury found Hendricks guilty of second-degree murder in June for shooting his friend, Rory Neddo, during a heated argument in 2019.
Watkins gave Hendricks a chance to make a statement prior to sentencing. Hendricks stood and held back tears as he offered an apology to Neddo’s family.
“I screwed up having a firearm in the first place,” Hendricks said. “Words can’t describe how sorry I am for all of this. I’d give anything to go back and change it … I know (Neddo’s) family well and I’m sorry. I didn’t want any of this.”

Good looking guy threw his life away for a momentary lapse of reason. At least he is man enough to apologize. And that is rare.

He had an extensive criminal history...he'd thrown away any decent life long ago.
And who cares what he looks like.
It amazes me when people comment on such things..
So many people still seem to think that a good looking person is more likely to have a better life, or be a better person, or has more to throw away than someone who is less attractive.
All studies show that good looking people are generally more unhappy with their lives because, due just to their looks, people treat them better than other people who behave exactly the same way, or behave better.
They get a false sense of their own abilities...think "yeah I must be great because I get things given to me that other people have to work for"... But, in the end, they work less hard, feel and act very entitled, and end up not "getting" all the things they feel the "deserve" as opposed to earned.
There is a reason for the often observed truism that good looking people are a bad hire.

His apology actually has pain in his throat. It feels authentically remorseful. Not that it justifies but it is interesting to see a sincere apology, remorse and grief. He tried to keep his composure from tears and choking up so hard. You don't see it often in these cases. Prayers and love to him and the family 💜💖

I don’t think anyone has ever thought an apology could justify an offense 😏

I saw zero remorse. A career criminal. He probably wishes that he could make it all go away, but it was so foreseeable that remorse doesn't stand.

He actually looks like he’s remorseful, 11-36 he’s going have lot’s of time to think about his criminal actions.

Empathy for all involved, all people who are impacted by this death, and incarceration. Hear his remorse that does not undo his actions, but a positive example. God, whatever that word means to each individual, is everywhere, even in prison. Peace out.

In my eyes he shouldn't have shot his friend in the first place , and he wouldn't be where he is right now , its too late for sorry , sorry wont bring his mate back. he wasn't sorry when he pointed the gun at his friend and shooting him , knowing he could die which he did. He's faking his sorrow .

"There are no words to describe this....uh....sorry....uh" like shut up your evil tail killed somebody. He's upset that he has to face the consequences, that's it. He really has nothing to say for himself because at the end of the day he doesn't care.
