On December 27th, 2023, I went out to Chilliwack to record many crossings that I had not yet recorded out that way. My first stop was this crossing, where I waited for about 20 minutes before a train showed up. Afterwards, the crossing activated, and what appears to be CPKC train 401 came rolling through with a CP ES44AC leading quite the lashup on this train.
This crossing isn’t anything too special, featuring modernized Safetran and Siemens signals. Originally, it appears there crossing featured a pair of mid-1990s Safetran signals, featuring Safetran 12” incandescent lights and a Safetran mechanical bell. Then in the 2000s, the crossing was modernized with the original Safetran bell replaced with the current GS Type 2 E-Bell, as well as the original lights with Safetran 12x20” Dialight Ball LED lights. Then in the early 2010s, the near signal was knocked over, and was replaced with a signal featuring a US&S Model 95 gate mechanism and Safetran 12x20” Harmon Fading LED lights. Then finally around 2019-2020, the near signal was knocked down again, and was replaced with the current Siemens signal.
