This village is where my grandparents lived and my uncle still lives. He lives outside of the main village in a farm. The village shop has had many names over the 48 years I have been alive, one of them being Mace. The Sheahan's sign you showed used to be part shop/part bar and was owned by a relative of my grandmothers. I remember going in there after mass on a Sunday for a fizzy lemonade and a bar of chocolate when I was a child. It was closed for many years before it was converted into a home. The sign outside the old creamery has my granddads name on it. Back in the day my uncle or granddad would drive the tractor and trailer down to the creamery with the milk churns, now the creamery lorry comes to the farm. When we were children we used to love spending our holiday's in August here as they used to have a carnival. It would have been somewhere near where the playground is now.

I am your 3rd cousin and live in the US and have done a lot of research on the family history. Your aunt Breeda has helped me so much. My family and I have never been to Ireland and hope to someday. +Paul Sheahan Hi cousin. Its amazing what the power of the internet can do, bringing people together that would other wise not have a clue about each other. There is a Freemount archive page which has photos posted by lots of different people from the village that you might find interesting. Through posting a comment about a photo on there I found another cousin on my grandad's side of the family, that I had never met, but strangely enough he had been given photos of me and my brother as children at the farm. Another strange thing is that the man who posted this video, actually lives in the village that my mum is from and he posts videos about that place too.
+Tricia Fitzpatrick So interesting! Yes, I've seen that website (Freemountvillage.com) and got so many incredible photos of my great uncles from Kiltane, Freemount and other cousins on there. I just noticed that website is off-line now - it says in the account has been suspended, I assume for nonpayment. I hope somebody renews it! What a crime it would be if they were to let that website go. So nice to hear from you Tricia!
