This is an awesome video. I really like the history of places like this. Great story telling and could you do one about pismo, and the history of Pavilion Hill?
Your video is marvelous and very professional. The historical photos are very descriptive. The video covers a wide swath of history in only a few minutes. Thank you.
Excellent video thank you to my old Avila beach lifeguard buddy David from the late 60's into the 70's he was our Bronze God at Avila....I've spent many an hour in that area ...sad now days it's just a pit stop for the rich home owners for their 3 or 4 th home away from home and the flood of tourist make it unbearable to be there when the sun shines...but back in the 70's it really was something special...I'll never forget
There used to be a dive bar in Avila Beach which was run by a woman known as Miss Barbara. By the '80s she was quite old and behaved very erratically (in appearance Barb resembled Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?"). One evening I was there after work, and she was forgetting who'd ordered what. When my Budweiser didn't arrive after 15 minutes I walked over to ask Barbara again. Her reply was unforgettable...without saying a word, she reaches under the bar and then slaps a revolver onto the counter top. Message received! Hey I can wait, no hurry.
Common misconception. It was actually filmed at Point Buchon, where Disney built a temporary lighthouse for the movie. www.sanluisobispo.com/news/weather/weather-watch/article244175487.html
Thanks for the interesting history. I was born and raised in SLO county, but didn’t know most of these facts.
Great history 🦅🦅🇺🇸
