I love the interpretation of Peppino no only have war PTSD flashbacks, but also flashbacks of Pizza Face, with that Unexpectancy leitmotif thrown in at the end to really sell the concept.
War is one of those levels that genuinely feels like it's going beyond its' own games' boundaries to deliver an experience that'll always stick with you. One of the most memorable sudden tone shifts in any game I've played. A masterful cover of an already brilliant song. I also really love the video being more somber as opposed to the much more goofy previous ones.
I love the fact that the whole game everything revolves around pizza, and then when you get to WAR, it drops the pizza theme completely. There os no pizza pun, just WAR
I knew about all the 5th floor levels, but they were all amazing to experience as I played them. I also knew that you get a camo pattern for beating WAR the first time, so I had that added pressure on top of running past landmines and soldiers. I did manage to beat it first try on my first save, by the way. It was Hell.
Towards the end you can hear some of the start of Unexpectancy. I think that leitmotif might represent Peppino and his rage, that never went away even when he was most scared within the tower. Sure, he's anxious, and sure, he might be a war veteran, but he's so angry that in battle and in war, it will always echo in all he does to keep his life together.
I wonder if the makers of Pizza Tower would be willing to get a all of the songs Metallified by Rich and then add them as an alt-option into the game...
WAR's adrenaline and terror combined with Carpenter Brut's probably-in-the-name brutality, all mixed together with tremendous guitar play and instrumentation. Richaad, I gotta say, this is one of your best works yet and really makes me hope Pizza Tower music mods'll one day be a thing. Absolutely jaw-dropping quality here, very well done!
You saying that has made me realize that Carpenter Brut sometimes feels like an alternate universe Justice that slammed 2x as hard on the metal and I don't quite know how to feel about that information.
HOLY SHIT! The other videos were fun and unhinged. This one is artistic and emotional. I love this even ignoring the incredible cover playing in the background.
This track is perfect because it’s just like war; if you don’t really understand it looks badass or whatever but when you’re old enough you understand that it’s a tragedy of crushing scale. This is a beautiful elegy for all of the meaningless suffering of war. And side note the guitar sounds like it’s crying at points
the background footage on all of these is so good. you could have just put a visualizer graph for b-roll footage and been fine, but you consistently go so far above and beyond what's needed. absolutely sublime.
The mix is EXPERTLY done, doesn't leave a moment with any overstimulation but also never leaves a second feeling empty. Your instrumentation and arrangement are absolutely impeccable, but I felt you deservioli a compliment on how well mixed the track is, too!
YES THE ALARM’S HERE! The percussion for this is absolutely incredible, same for the choreography! Then you Released your Unexpectancy cover, and I thought no Pizza Tower cover could top it. Now you release this and HOW THE ACTUAL HELL IS IT EVEN BETTER THAN YOUR UNEXPECTANCY COVER
Took me a few listens to pick up that was Unexpectancy layered on the end, and it compliments the track fantastically! Especially at the very end when it echoes over the marching, Poor Peppinos been through the worst of it indeed.
It says something about... something (the quality cinematography/editing? the banger cover? the wider context established by both the game and the video? I'm not sure what/who to credit) that the serious tone isn't broken by a goddamn pizza with a >:D face on it.
Holy shit, this is good. And I thought that the original soundtrack already slapped hard. I've been listening to this a few couple of times with how addictive it is. The visual work though, it manages to both be funny with the whole theme behind Pizza Tower while also fitting this sort of PTSD experience. The sudden stops, the cold blank emotions, the uncomfortable breaks, the visible denial. The vision of seeing one self's memory of past events meeting together with normalcy, wanting to escape and break free from the trauma. I know the whole War Veteran thing was said to not be a thing with the character, but this whole video makes justice to that idea to such length and degrees, no words can describe how this nails it. One of the more subtle details that I love once I picked it up was the "Please Stand By" Test Screen. While signifying that there could be tests to the fed broadcast, the fact that the scene of the bedroom is so dark also imply it being nighttime. In a way this manage to reinforce the PTSD approach because of the fact those would stay on the broadcast between 11PM-6AM. Intentional or not, this detail give the impression of watching's one mind lost in their traumatic memories while staring at what could be considered blank/void, an uncomfortable loneliness that only the one traumatized can see and process. Keep at it with your work. I've listened and watched your work before, but holy shit this one.
It was a bit on my second but definitely by the third time we listening. That I noticed the bomb counting down in time with the beat. Because I was listening instead of watching. So seeing the bomb pop up and then pop back down. Righteous work, my dude
_This is so freakin' hype_ . Man, Thousand March is the song that got me into the game in the first place, and hearing it like this with all the extra instruments pumping things up in the background is just excellent. You absolutely nailed the climax toward the end. Massive props and respect dude, you're a legend. \m/

Seriously, that cover of the most hardcore level in entire game is so awesome! I really love it!~
Echoing a lot of the sentiment, but the inclusion of the timer, and only at certain points so that it’s not over-used, was such a clutch decision, it elevates the whole piece even further. Such an excellent job!
This cover made me realize how hard this song slaps. I absolutely love what you did with this cover. I recommend covering Pepper man Strikes for your next Pizza Tower cover.
I don’t think the fact that he is literally just staring at the TV with this slightly focused/slightly reminiscent look on his face the whole time is getting talked about enough.
You added so much to this already banger song. Still one of my favourite level tracks from the game (even though the level itself is an absolute nightmare, and quite rightly so lol)
I feel like the original captures the PTSD and horrific aspect of war whilst Richard's cover captures the cool and victorious adventure part of war. The original is how war veterans see and feel about war after they come back from it This version is how most people view war when they've never been in it.
I think it plays really well into the addition of the unexpectanxy motifs as well. War is usually the last level before pizza face you can do, and it really does feel like the song is saying "you've made it this far, this is all thats standing between you and the end"
As i come back again and again it feels more and more like Pizza Tower's soundtrack awakened something dormant within this man, an elder god stirring deep within and demanding tribute
I just realized Richaad got a Drive poster on his living room, now i really can't tell if that was there before or if he placed it there specifically for Peppino 💀
