Don't bother humming, "If I only had a brain" in South Korea. All the heavy lifting has been removed with English speaking personnel in train stations, on and off trains and signage in English and Korean wherever you go. Watch the video to see for yourself...

"Doesn't resemble the Japanese bullet trains" - correct. However it will strongly resemble the French TGV trains. Specially the older "reseau" (regional sets)
These are heavily based on the French design of the TGV and built partly in Korea.

+Leo Colgan You are correct. I don't know why I was expecting one of ultra-fast bullet trains but it was comfortable and easy to use. Thanks for correcting my comment, and best regards. Sheila

Was that 59,800 Won for the both of you or per adult?
That's a pretty nice idea by them in the ticket checking....the high tech Korean way ;)
Was the food on the train reasonably priced?
Loved your video as usual....especially the attention to detail you put in each one.

+dragchute86 I. It was for each of us. I thought the ticket checking was brilliant. Just look to see what seats are occupied instead of checking everyone's tickets and the food sold looked to be reasonable even thought we didn't buy anything. I try to put as much detail in each video as possible to reassure travelers who want to travel. Travel is daunting and it helps to know what to expect; at least that's the way I feel. Thanks for watching and commenting. It is greatly appreciated. Best regards, Sheila

    Hi
In fact the Koreans bought old French Alsthom TGV trains and they only use them on one route...Seoul - Busan.(as of 2013)
I took it about two years ago and the ride is more or less comfortable.
We bought a Korail pass online and unfortunately they billed us twice (probably my fault as I didn't wait for the transaction to finish before I started again as it was so long. Took about 8 months to get a refund.
Paris Baguette is everywhere in Korea.
I worked for an advertising agency in Paris who initially had the Paris Baguette contract to open stores in Paris.
I think there is one Paris Baguette in Paris but it apparently was very difficult for the agency to convince her that the marketing style had to be different than in Korea.
Personnel in berets just don't cut it here.
    Keep those videos coming

Hi, can you please tell me if you've prebooked your tickets through an online website or bought tickets when you get to Busan?

I want to be sure I am hearing what you are asking. Is it to buy train tickets? If so, my tour agency bought all the tickets but I don't think it would be any problem buying them on a website, at the station or through wherever you are staying. Any hotel/hostel, etc., should be able to help you. That being said, make sure it isn't on a holiday! If it is, you may have a problem. For example, we had to be driven on one part of this trip because there were no tickets available. Please let me know if this answers your question. Hope so! And best regards, Sheila

Sheila Simkin Thank you for your reply. Can you please tell me if the train goes to Seoul Station or Inchoen? I want it to go to Seoul station as our hotel is near by. Also, we will have big luggages was there enough storage room on the train? Last question did you ticket comes with seat number preselected or did you have to exchange it at the counters? Sorry for my many questions. thank you so much.

I don't mind questions at all. I only wish I knew the answers! I think (almost positive) we had reserved seats with numbers that we didn't have to exchange. Our guide gave us all the tickets and just dropped us at the train station. I'm also positive we came in at Seoul Station. However, here is the link to the Korea Tourist office, english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/TRP/TP_ENG_4.jsp, If you haven't contacted them, please e-mail them and ask for the answers to your questions. Unfortunately, I don't remember the answers to all of them. Best, Sheila

Do they have food for purchase on board?

    • @SheilaSimkin
      @SheilaSimkin  9 лет назад

+Nikhil Dadlani Yes they did. A rolling cart down the aisle. We did buy anything having eaten a gigantic breakfast at the hotel and expecting an equally big dinner once we got to Seoul but there was a nice selection. Thanks for watching and best regards, Sheila
