  • Take a look at what Rus, a former Royal Marine, keeps in his grab bag / bug out bag, good to go incase the SHTF!
    - - - - - - - - -
    Hey up,
This week I show you the grab bag that me and Gibbo have put together to keep in our van for emergencies. Recent events have shown us how quickly things can change so we wanted to get prepared in case the worst should happen while we're out on the road. Are we being paranoid or do you have something similar??
Let us know what you think about grab bags down below...
    Thanks for watching, stay safe!

    Good presentation Royal!
I would suggest hand sanitiser to supplement the baby wipes and a small bar of soap together with a small microfibre towel (from Mountainwarehouse-own brand).
A packet of tissues(as found in the 24 ORPs) comes in handy!
Batteries are good to have as they can be versatile but what about using the rechargeable variety of headlight. They can be recharged from your power bank.
Notebook and pencil? Others have suggested some additions already. Striving a balance between going overboard or what is just right.

I have added 6 ball bungees and 6 tarp clips. Usually between them you can hang anything for shelter, bungee balls have multiple uses too. Also I thrown in some zip ties ( cable ties ) they very useful too.

Bro, you need a primary knife other than just a multitool, imo. And some sort of shelter, be it a tarp or heavy mil contractor bag. I would like to see a updated version of your go bag.

My first Go Bag was created in 1975, when I joined Emergency Rescue.
Over the years it has evolved, particularly when I was embedded into the Australian Military.
Although Size, Shape and Contents have changed over time, its existence never has.

I would recommend an Otter Box for a first aid kit. It's water proof and relatively small, contains things from hemostat to items needed to stitch a wound. Very durable container.

A change of clothes, spare walking shoes, rain poncho, poncho liner, foot powder and lots of socks. The jet boil is ok but a solo twig stove is more practical and the fuel is free. An alcohol stove is a cleaner option and the fuel is plentiful.

I do like the look of that Aeropress coffee maker. I too am ex-military and always have grab bags. I actually have a smaller quickie version for each vehicle and a two stage for the house. One contains firearms and ammo and one contains living stuff similar to yours. My firearms bag has a multi-barrel gun system which has a .410 20" full choke barrel for small game/birds, a .410 20" open bore barrel with iron sights for shooting my slugs/buckshot (more defensive or mid size game) and a .22 LR barrel that all snap onto the same frame for small game. So for about 24 pounds of weight, I have enough .444 marlin brass shot shells to have 50 shots of #6 shot (good all around shot size for small game and short range birding), 200 rounds of .22 LR (CCI Mini-Mag HP's), 25 Federal 000 buckshot and 20 of my own slugs I make in 9.3x74R cases blown out smooth. These are 240 grain solid leads that hit nearly as hard as a .45-70. The other gun in that bag is my .45 LC Charter arms 5-shot double action revolver with 50 of my own reloads with Hornady 240 gr. XTP Magnums and a little .45 colt reloading kit. I also have enough powder to reload almost every shell along with the wads, but I don't carry bullets/shot because they weigh a lot and I figure if I'm out and about and running out of ammo, I'll have to figure out a source for lead and would figure that out on the fly. I can go a long time on what I have in the pack anyway as long as I don't have to decap too many zombies. ;) I also have a couple molds for making the .45 colt and .410 slug bullets, so if I find a source of lead (ie. batteries or piping in old houses), I can make more bullets/shot. The only other thing I have in my small go bags is something called a Life straw. Lets you drink right out of dirty water and doesn't take up much space. I also have a bigger pump style filtration system in the big go bag which will do up to 3000 gal. Water is life and that's the most important of all. Everything else I can get off the land, but good water is critical. I also do have a light weight aluminum pot and a steel grate to go over the fire in my bigger pack. Both of the big packs combined weigh about 50 pounds, which I can carry alone, but it is a bit bulky. The survival gear is in a Medium Alice Pack and the firearm bag is in a duffel style with shoulder strap. I can loop it around the rear pack and balance it front-back also or my wife can carry one and I carry the other. Usually, I'd have the pistol & slug barrel version of the gun out of the 2nd bag, so it's lighter for her to carry. Oh and I have a pump .22 air pistol in the survival pack with 2000 pellets. This can also be used for small game.

Great vid mate.. BUT I don't get grab bags or bug out bags.. If you need to leave home its never gonna be in a case where you need to leave within seconds.. I have a hole cupboard of bushcraft, survival and camping equipment so if I need to leave home with my family id pack accordingly for the situation instead of relying on a bag that's been packed for weeks, months or years. Plus you'd need time to pack food, all the long shelf stuff.. I do get however why you'd have a grab bag in the military environment but for the civs its really not necessary in my opinion.
This isn't a rant im just putting across my thoughts mate. Great bits of kit there and great knowledge bud. Nice watch thanks for sharing subbed....

I think I would also like to see some sturdy ankle boots, the yellow pages x 2 or possibly 4, rope, waterproof poncho, chainsaw gauntlets and an array of hand axes. A couple of rolls of 240 cm fence wire and steel cable .... and some whiskey. Having watched many survival documentaries covering the breakdown of human civilisation preventing the violent chewing upon ones arms and legs is paramount. A healthy paper index taped to your upper limbs might very well allow you to take advantage of the nearest deserted Supermarket where such survival will reward you with many free goodies and of course access to the Beer isle ..... admittedly might need a bigger bergen.
