It's easy to see why everybody loves JJ. Everything he says is good news! I bet at home he's one of those people that when he starts talking everybody shuts the hell up and listens XD! Go JJ! FTW.
@malows1234 well the same can be said for Macs and Apple ,but you won't see people complaining. When you have set up a brand of your own. Regardless of how there are better OEMs out there ,people will still come back just because of goodwill.
loved the board, quite fast and well built. After 6 months i got a bootloop on it dunno if it was the mobo or the 3570k i5 (no oc, no hardware changes ..). i had the deluxe version btw, no more mainboards above 150€ for me
cpu voltage automatic with digi-vram load line = Ultra High CPU Current Capility = 130% Digi Vrm Frequency = Auto OFF (have to test more), think auto on is the best - hat problems with fixed 350 what i see in other overclock guides Digi Vrm Phase = Extreme Digi Vrm Duty Control = T.Probe (Thermal Probe) with this settings and normal CPU= 1,33 Voltage the cpu runs with 100% to 1,464 thats ok so i have now problems please info for better config, not optimized now, but so its stable and fast
I might just do that, just gotta wait for a cheap enough 2700k. There's a Microcenter in my town and it's even cheaper to buy there than online (even after tax), best they got for Sandy Bridge is a 2500k for $139 which is still a pretty good deal.
Ok after some work and adjustments I have a very nice stable overclock. I'm at 4.55 GHz, cpu voltage of 1.275 (runs at 1.336V) and cpu temp is 59C. I ran it for 30 minutes on Aida64 and it was stable. Oh BCLK was at 105.8 too. That's the i5 3570k and ASUS P8Z77-V PRO Motherboard. Very nice!!
So the Asus z77 mobo actually has software that'll overclock your CPU for you and find the performance/stability sweetspot without you having to tinker with manually?
I have the latest 908 firmware for the p8z77-v lk and i don't see "Fast" or "Extreme" options in the Auto Tuning. Mine only shows "Start". Is there something i have to enable/disable to see that feature?
If you are running a Sabertooth board, I believe you do not have the auto tuning option available. Personally I chose the Z77 Pro board for this reason... I came to this conclusion through long research. The auto tune is not listed on the product page of the sabertooth...
I currently have a Core 2 Quad setup and want to know, is it worth it to buy a 3770k over a 2700k? I found the 2700k for $219 and 3770k is just $10 more. But I'm taking a risk with a Z68 mobo, since I hear not all Z68's support Ivy out of the box and you need a bios update. I'm going Z68 because I found a good deal with a refurbished Asus mobo.
Just gave it a try for the first time on my upgraded win10 from win7, and yeah Win10 does not like it at all. It’s unstable. It went into the loop of rebooting itself. I had to boot into SafeMode, and change the settings in the bios then it was ok again. I still have my overclocked settings saved on the Asus suite software, but now using the auto overclock setting is a big no no.
does this clocking program come with the sabertooth z77 aswell? and what about the temps, they are reaching over 80 degrees. and it keeps going to overclock, where is that going. thought he said 75 centigrade would be bttr. and you dont talk about the temp whatsoever. could you break that down to me?
Funny you mention that, I'm not editing videos for Hollywood but I am a film student who is going to be editing stuff. Also ram is cheap and my old rig that had 8gb was always maxing out. Plus I do it because I can, and it's great to have that extra ram when needed. As for my problem I solved it.
I am just wondering, does TPU has to be on when using the extreme option? Also, do we need to fast over clock, then use extreme? Or can we just hop onto the extreme option? Thanks!
All thermal paste [TIM] does not need to be replaced every year. I have extensively tested Arctic Silver and it does need replaced after a time, because components seperate. I know this is denied by Arctic Silver, however, they are in business to sell a product, not to tell the truth. Better compounds, such as ProLima Tech PK series do not need replaced every year. Note that, if you decide to purchase, PK-3 is more difficult to spread than PK-1 or PK-2.
+charvelstrat81 Because this automation software running system to the point of extreme load. but u ll not get 90 Temp in routines while playing games. This software gives u stability points and warns about reaching danger.
39:00 i like how he kinda says "if all you're doing at the end of the day is use youtube and office, you might get away with an overclock, that's not stable under a stress test like prime". Why would you need to overclock Ivy Bridge for those things anyhow?
depends what u do on the computer ? something like video editing or 3d rendering etc yes u will feel the improvement otherwise stuff like gaming or just internet browsing not going to feel it
ok so i jsut got my asus p8z77-v and i cant find this program for over clocking? i just install everything that came with my whole cpu like all the components and such where do i find this program? please help!
im using the z77 sabertooth board. in the ai suite it doesnt seem to have that auto tuner for over clocking. instead it has the thermal radar . . i want auto overclocking.
Is overclocking worth it for a non enthusiast? I have a 3570k running at stock speeds. If i overclock will i see any 'real' improvement or will it just heat up my room?
one thing i fail to find on the internet is ow you overclock memory. everywhere it says you can get faster memory by overclocking but there is no information on how to actualy overclock it. can anyone please explain what exact settings need to be changed to get for example ddr3 2400. or is it like the asrock board i used for someone last week (amd cpu) and just select it in a dropdown?
The analogy was an attempt to express the notion of, "Why buy the more expensive product at first when it's possible to achieve a similar effect with a cheaper product that I can modify on my own"....and the answer is simple, the more expensive product is better quality. I suppose using an analogy related to cars made what I was saying a bit confusing.
My sys specs: Core i7 3770k Asus P8Z77-V PRO Corsair Vengeance Blue 16gb ram Corsair H100 Water Cooler Corsair 850watt Modular PSU It keeps rebooting then says failed, I have to go into BIOS and set to defaults to get the system to boot again.
all good. Yeah I found a auto oc in the bios which did the job. the i5 ivy bridge went from 3.4 to around 4.2 give or take. I think they may have mentioned it in this video, something about it over volting the cpu too much, so based on my broken memory I decided to leave it at normal settings. (now im the one kinda talking out of my ass as half the time i dunno my facts properly before commenting on youtube)
Only things I changed were the multiplier ( 44 ), cpu voltage ( 1.200), and cpu PLL ( 1.525 ). It runs fine on prime95 and seems to be stable. You really dont want the chip above 1.35 imo :( way too much heat.
Of course, that assumes that all you're doing is playing games with this board. The 4us (or so) hit you take when switching speeds is a problem for some folks.
Maybe I'm old school, but I think overclocking should be hand tuned. Not for the best performance, but because just flipping a switch takes the fun out of it :)
just tried it on my 3450.........as soon as i pressed fast method the computer restarted and came up to blue screen and i had to use system restore............
multi threading has been proven to be slower then non in some cases also the 3770 can be overclocked more but that dosen mean it is faster there almost the exact same besides the multi threading that in most cases is faster but for fps range the 3570k dose get like 4 more frames so its really unnoticble
use stress testing and don't let ur cpu get high temps 85'c , any ghz will be find as long as ur temps not high and the system is stable, start with 4.0ghz or 4.2ghz
Try overclocking. See which one hits their thermal threshold first. The 2700k runs far cooler. Then compare the benchmarks. Sandybridge comes out on top..easily. The 2700k is also $50+ cheaper in Oz. You don't buy a K processor to leave it at stock.(2600k is even cheaper and OC's just as well, to rub salt in)
it took 49 seconds to fully complete cinebench.Took a minute and 15 seconds for my fx 6100 at 4.5 ghz to complete it.. so thats minus 2 (Cores) so about 26 seconds longer for 2 less cores and a .1 ghz faster clock so remind me again why i need to spend 230 dollars more for about 26 seconds faster speeds? lol
yap that correct 105 is its ABSOLUTE MAX but at 95 its already its max for clocking so the point of going to 105 is useless.... starting at 95 it will lower ur frequency already
what supp guys please i need Answer and be sure 100% please i got asus z77 vl-x i7 3770k overclocking to 4.5 ghz i need to know what voltage can i make for my cpu ? right now my voltage 1.300v i got hyper 212 turbo evo for my cpu so please i need help what voltage i must make to play on maximum settings and 1920*1080 resul please need Answer and be sure 100% my psu XFX 850w xxx edation graphic card 7970 asus matrix plantium Need Answer Please about my voltage and be sure 100% !
Looking at the numbers the difference isn't that great from the chart. i7 3770k 9,641 points @ 314$. And FX 8350 9,178 points @ 220$. While the 3570k 7,128 points @ 213.50$ So going by the chart alone comparing the best amd cpu to it's main competitors we see that it isn't much slower at all and the price to performance ratio is in Amd's favor here. Yes, the 3960X is faster for sure but it costs 4 times as much and it's aimed at a different market.

Thanks! Lots of great info. Doing a new build with the Core i5 3570k. I'm shooting for 4.5 GHz or a little higher. This helps immensely!!!
AI Suite 2 is part of the software listed on your boards drivers page on the asus site.
there is SOOOO much to learn about Pc's! my head is spinning!
It's easy to see why everybody loves JJ. Everything he says is good news! I bet at home he's one of those people that when he starts talking everybody shuts the hell up and listens XD! Go JJ! FTW.
Lol I've been researching IB everywhere and JJ keeps popping up everywhere :p
Asus has gone so far ahead of any competition.
@foffer Software is bundled with the board, but if u get a maximus v u should use the bios
OMG that restart was insane ....... it was like my Pentium D did a few year's back
@malows1234 well the same can be said for Macs and Apple ,but you won't see people complaining. When you have set up a brand of your own. Regardless of how there are better OEMs out there ,people will still come back just because of goodwill.
loved the board, quite fast and well built. After 6 months i got a bootloop on it dunno if it was the mobo or the 3570k i5 (no oc, no hardware changes ..). i had the deluxe version btw, no more mainboards above 150€ for me
I had changed the LLC to medium. After I switched back to regular I was able to achieve the same OC at lower voltage.
Jayjay you're all over youtube lately. How's it feel?
They need to start with a simplified version so people like me can get a hold of it and btw where did the TurboV Evo come from all of a sudden?
cpu voltage automatic with digi-vram
load line = Ultra High
CPU Current Capility = 130%
Digi Vrm Frequency = Auto OFF (have to test more), think auto on is the best - hat problems with fixed 350 what i see in other overclock guides
Digi Vrm Phase = Extreme
Digi Vrm Duty Control = T.Probe (Thermal Probe)
with this settings and normal CPU= 1,33 Voltage the cpu runs with 100% to 1,464 thats ok
so i have now problems
please info for better config, not optimized now, but so its stable and fast
Still looking for a good tutorial for i7 2600k and z77 sabertooth.....I'm afraid to oc it lol.
J.J is the man, Love you long time
z77 boards are alright, overclocks i7 2600k to 4.3Ghz without raising the vCore and everything else at defaults from the bios. Works like charm.
I might just do that, just gotta wait for a cheap enough 2700k. There's a Microcenter in my town and it's even cheaper to buy there than online (even after tax), best they got for Sandy Bridge is a 2500k for $139 which is still a pretty good deal.

Can't wait to get an ASUS ROG Maximus V board and check all this out.
why is he ignoring that 95 degree warning?
Who wants to oc the cpu if it is going to be running at unsafe 95 degrees???
+charvelstrat81 Because this automation software running system to the point of extreme load. but u ll not get 90 Temp in routines while playing games. This software gives u stability points and warns about reaching danger.

im using the z77 sabertooth board. in the ai suite it doesnt seem to have that auto tuner for over clocking. instead it has the thermal radar . . i want auto overclocking.
jj is everywhere
I'm running a 3770k and it keeps failing on me what am I doing wrong?
Do you watched it to the end?
Easy Question - Do you set XpertFan2 settings prior to running the Extreme Overclocking utility?
Does anybody know why the autotuning doesn't show up as an option? I have the same configuration like these two guys...
Is overclocking worth it for a non enthusiast? I have a 3570k running at stock speeds. If i overclock will i see any 'real' improvement or will it just heat up my room?
If i just want a 4.0 on a 3770k how would you do the voltages, i dont really understand how to up that if im just throwin the multiplyer up 5.
What is a good level of over clock for an i5 3570K? What sort of Ghz do you recommend starting at, and when should I stop?
Auto OC to 4.7GHz on a 3770K. Also OC the iGPU. Stable since birth two months ago.
well i have z77 but i cant auto tune fron ai suite
any suggestions why?
thanks for your help in advance
singularity computers owns the rights to the intro music to this video, i think?
so you do not need a K version chip to run ddr3 2400mhz ?
one thing i fail to find on the internet is ow you overclock memory.

His 4.7GHz Cinebench Score is lower than my 4.5GHz Overclock same chip! Cinebench scoure was 9.61 vs 8.43

it went back to stock speed after it overclocked mine. also the system had crashed at 3.8ghz using a 212+ evo in a switch 810 50f in my room
its true. only 2 x 3.0pci-ex16 lanes.
My sys specs:
Core i7 3770k
Asus P8Z77-V PRO
Corsair Vengeance Blue 16gb ram
Corsair H100 Water Cooler

It keeps rebooting then says failed, I have to go into BIOS and set to defaults to get the system to boot again.
Does this work with the 3210m Ivy Bridge CPU?

Feels like im spamming you now, sorry. Did some looking and apparently the z77 sabertooth specifically doesnt come with the auto tuner.
great. nice to hear

Don't think I can get this feature with my Sabertooth. I wish these videos would show a method more applicable to all products.
I totally agree. I really could go for some times on a first time OC with Sabertooth Z77 and 3770k.
I have an Asus P8Z77-V LE PLUS, how do I know if I can get this software or not?
Maybe I'm old school, but I think overclocking should be hand tuned. Not for the best performance, but because just flipping a switch takes the fun out of it :)

check if you have TPU switch on

And they didn't even have anything running :o
I seriously hope this was a pre-SP1 win 7
lol, you can OC the i7 3770k to higher then the i5 3570k, the i7 also has multi-threading on the cores.
dude, replace (dot) to . in the domain- youtube blocks it. hope this helps you
Hello Sir Wat Is Your Theme Name Plisse
use stress testing and don't let ur cpu get high temps 85'c , any ghz will be find as long as ur temps not high and the system is stable, start with 4.0ghz or 4.2ghz
No that is laptop cpu you have to have a z77 motherboard and a k edition cpu to do a multiplier overclock
Sweet way to overclock :D
Guys I can't see this AUTO TUNE bit....I see THERMAL RADAR instead!?!? I have exact motherbpard with i3770K cpu. What gives!?!?
hey, as long as it keeps booting up, you've got no problems.
Oh and here is the benchmark list...
Since I can't post a link...
Google "Intel Vs. AMD" and click the 2nd link for passmark benchies
please can someone tell me if my sabertooth z77 support turbov evo auto tunning ?
+1 on this .... Where exactly is this autotune utility
go with 2700k with the z68 platform
it is indeed
I'm at 4.4 with 1.2 stable if that helps :)
Try overclocking. See which one hits their thermal threshold first. The 2700k runs far cooler. Then compare the benchmarks. Sandybridge comes out on top..easily. The 2700k is also $50+ cheaper in Oz. You don't buy a K processor to leave it at stock.(2600k is even cheaper and OC's just as well, to rub salt in)
it took 49 seconds to fully complete cinebench.Took a minute and 15 seconds for my fx 6100 at 4.5 ghz to complete it.. so thats minus 2 (Cores) so about 26 seconds longer for 2 less cores and a .1 ghz faster clock so remind me again why i need to spend 230 dollars more for about 26 seconds faster speeds? lol
i cant even get 4.7ghz stable under 1.49 volts...
That's pretty normal man. Dont worry about it, I have trouble getting past 4.3GHz
yap that correct 105 is its ABSOLUTE MAX but at 95 its already its max for clocking so the point of going to 105 is useless.... starting at 95 it will lower ur frequency already
what supp guys please i need Answer and be sure 100% please i got asus z77 vl-x i7 3770k overclocking to 4.5 ghz i need to know what voltage can i make for my cpu ? right now my voltage 1.300v i got hyper 212 turbo evo for my cpu so please i need help what voltage i must make to play on maximum settings and 1920*1080 resul please need Answer and be sure 100% my psu XFX 850w xxx edation graphic card 7970 asus matrix plantium Need Answer Please about my voltage and be sure 100% !
Looking at the numbers the difference isn't that great from the chart. i7 3770k 9,641 points @ 314$. And FX 8350 9,178 points @ 220$. While the 3570k 7,128 points @ 213.50$
So going by the chart alone comparing the best amd cpu to it's main competitors we see that it isn't much slower at all and the price to performance ratio is in Amd's favor here. Yes, the 3960X is faster for sure but it costs 4 times as much and it's aimed at a different market.
You just alter the frequencies in the BIOS.
ivy chips are good for 95 infact after 95 they will start tuning down their frequency... but taking a cpu to its limit on temps can also kill it chance is low... but they can die from it
You are in error, most games still use 2 cores - overclock them, and why the porn reference? Yes, I know some games, such as BF3 can use more than 2 cores.
Many games do not stress an Ivy Bridge CPU, but do stress the GPU, such as World of Tanks. I forgot to check the upcoming War Thunder, it does require more watts to play than WoT.
One of the most important comments made is do NOT use non-validated software to stress your Ivy Bridge CPU. That comment alone makes this video worth watching.
5:13 with captions on :P
They have better performance with a lower GHz, and they have a higher max temp. They are only a tiny bit better, but defiantly better.
MSI Z77 start PC in 10 ~ 20 secund !
MSI Z77A-GD65 __ MSI Z77A-G45
Awesome :)
It may be that the most important thing you will lose by using an 2500K in a Z77 motherboard, it does not permit PCIe 3.0, so, you lose on future capabilities
Me too!
Its self contradict to overclock to the stage of being not stable to pass stress test and say its ok if you just gonna watch youtube and play some games on it. Because if you just gonna watch youtube with it, you dont need to overclock.
