I've been watching you a while but just subscribed! Your comparison videos are the best of all the videos I've watched. That's saying a lot because I watch flossy Carter. Very entertaining fellow. But what won me over is your side by side strategy. Constantly switching back and forth from speaker gives you a better sense of the sound signatures of the two products. The JBL sounds better on the highs, but considering that the SONY is half the price currently and that you can adjust the sound with the eq, it has a lot more value for the price!
Both sound great but you can't say which one is better just by how bright it sounds. Quality and quantity are not the same thing, right?

Idk man. I feel that it should be compared to the JBL Xtreme 2. It's on sale for like 180 or lower rn.
I'd actually choose Sony Over JBL, but i still bought JBL Xtreme 3 in the end, since when i heard them both in Person, Sony only had deeper and punchier bass, thats it, but in terms of natural sound, treble, and vocals JBL is better and also slightly louder.. for me quality is better than bass. Thats why i bought jbl xtreme 3 not the sony sb43 which only had bass.

The jbl really pushes the highs and lows forward while the sony keeps a more balanced tune, you could probably change this with an eq, anyway the Sony is alot cheaper, that's definitely the better buy imo

Judging by this sound review, the JBL sounds to be more of an outdoor speaker since the musical presence is so in your face and has highs that can quickly become ear fatiguing. For all day listening, I'd prefer the Sony because of its more balanced tones, features, and price point.
They both sound pretty good, I think it will come down to personal preference. The brighter sound of the JBL suits certain music better. I would go for the Sony myself because I would prefer the sound of it for the music that I listen to.

Does the live sound mode push the highs? Because I heard that from other reviewers. Would the srs xb 43 high sound better with it and maybe better than the jbl xtreme 3?
Very similar, but xtreme 3 is definetly louder. I am still on two original xtreme-s. One at work, one at home.
I just recently acquired the HK Onyx Studio 6 and no regrets. Avid fan of JBL speakers. But wait, there is more, when we learned that a Sony SRS XB-43 similar to Xtreme 3, we could think twice before you spend the hard earned life savings money to go to Xtreme 3. XB43 will be definitely a better contender.
JBL has much clearer Highs! Base seems seems pretty close.
I'd love to see bass and treble adjustments on both.

The Xtreme 2 was already clear enough. if anything, the Xtreme 3 is TOO harsh now.

Here on my country xb43 is only P10000+ (around $200) and xtreme 3 is P18000 (around $280). Which i think is not worth it (both). just buy the boombox or partybox series. It's really really worth it

Just use a good equalizer that will add more bass and doesnt affect the sound and the jbl will deliver more bass

Nice Review, For The Price and Features Sony XB 43 Wins, since both have similar sound espeacially similar in bass response. JBL is a popular brand name in speaker thats why they can command that higher price but for the features Sony put more technology in XB43 including the RGB lights which i like. I might buy this Sony Model. I was itching to buy this JBL Xtreme 3 but since it can't be sync with my Xtreme 2 because the have different format ( Partyboost vs. Connect+) I might as well get Sony that has EQ adjustment and RGB Lights.

in slovakia the xb43 normaly costs around 150€-200€. Is it worth it in this prize tag. Im curently choosing between jbl xtreme 3 that costs 300€ and the xb 43 and the xg500 that costs 330€. So what do you recomend more?
Pls can anyone help me? I have a problem with my jbl xtreme 3 GG version, the buttons are not working only start up button works. I can press the buttons but they are not reacting. I already tried restarting and factory restarting nothing works bcs the buttons won t work. Also i can t turn off the speaker i can only turn it on and conect to my phone. I can only turn off my speaker by pressing start up button 8times times and hold it for 10 secs. The speaker plays music and videos normally without problems. PLS I NEED HELP

listening on my JBL pulse 3 and I would say that Sony XB43 takes this battle! sound quality is superb! Good for Chill music.
JBL has more details, and more clarity, bass is solid and punchy
Sony has more bass, low end bass with less twitter sound, bass is solid too but softer compare to JBL.
JBL is too clear, when going high pitch it can hurt your ears, but not in the case of sony, the bass cover the trebble giving much "boom sound"
SONY = more bass than trebble
JBL = has alot of details + sharp solid bass

Having no strap on the Sony really sucks, considering how heavy it is. And walking around playing the speaker in your back pack, defeats the purpose of mobility.
Man try to connect your lop top and watch movie then connect to sony switch live then u know it's like real to be honest😉 i have xb33 and jbl charge 5. I choose charge 5 in terms of loud perhaps the quality and clear audio even below 50% volume sony is so amazing.
@@loell4208 extreme 3 destroys charge 5. Charge 5 at max kills the battery quick, extreme 3 has to be at 50 percent volume to reach charges 100 percent volume and that means its using much less battery and will stay on longer at the right volume also more bass!
Everyone like for dlx to do a speaker Olympics, including the xtreme series, charge series, flip series, extra bass series and h/k series. And speaker sports such as best overall speaker, maximum listening distance, best sound and most portable. Best bass and any others speaker sports you would like to add

i got 2x xb43 for 275$ on black friday beffore 3 weeks agoo and i can say it it sound diffrent when you compare 1 solo xb43 and 2 in stereo mode the sound is more filling up but overall what DLX said is true you get aloot more options from sony for that price and also that LDAC codec if you havent tested it yet whit phone who actually have that option to stream on that codec go and check it out the sound is even better and bit more louder :).

I don’t know what’s wrong with our xb43 it doesn’t sound as loud as I thought it would be like we have a ue boom 2 small speaker and the xb43 is way more fuller and sounds better but it isn’t a lot louder is this normal especially at lower volume it’s quieter.

don't forget that if we use the Sony app, we get to play with the equalizer that would probably bring up sharper treble sound from the speaker. I would personally prefer Sony as I'm a person who wants to listen to hours of music, my ears wouldn't be able to withstand all those high treble for hours. But JBL surely produces clearer sound here. Good video to compare them

Even tho I’m listening to this video on an xb43 I can still tell the extreme 3 has better highs , I don’t get how it still has tweeters and still doesn’t have good highs but I guess that what eq is for . Looking at rtings graphs the Sony is the king of bass and the Jbl is best for sound clarity

I have a Sony xb43 and I love it. The sound is clear and with the EQ you can adjust sound. The party lights are super cool and you have different light movement options,and for the price to me it’s a better deal…! Can’t wait to get another one to pair them together,lol. If you think about it,you can get (2) Sony xb43’s for the price of (1) JBL extreme 3. Best Buy has the JBL at $399 and the Sony $149. Hmmmm. I would just get (2) Sony xb43’s and pair them and be much louder ????

There's a button on the speaker for it. Extra bass is the default option though. So pressing the button switches to Live or Stamina

JBL has changed the sound signature to closer match the SonyXB43. The Extreme 2 had a slightly warmer sound than the XB43. Now the Extreme 3 has less warmth but more detail sound signature

i now have both of these, because bass. and i have to say, jbl wins. sounds clear, bass is incredible. when i got the xb43 first i was decently impressed by its bass. sounded really good, put an eq on it for my liking, but it still wont come close bass wise to the jbl, even with extra bass

It must be said that the Sony reads LDAC, much higher than the AAC of the Jbl, and with the right signal it sounds stronger, then it also has the equalizer on the app, which still raises the bar, while the JBL does not c 'is the ha. The Sony sounds even better to me than the Bose 700 Soundbar, and I'm thinking of buying a second one to serve as a stereo.

There is no way that Sony is on full shabang. My xb43 sounds. Identical. To my xtreme 3 I’ve just bought to replace it. I’m gutted when u adjust the 43 too it sounds so much better balanced that’s crazy
And btw the xb43 sounds pretty good but I'm kinda iffy on it... I tend to like the sound of my xtreme 2s and xtreme 3s better... but thing is where sony used square woofers and tweaked the amplifier settings it can play lower actually and you can hear it.. even though it's not truly 20hz it's more like 30hz maybe.. but you can Def hear it n feel it with the xb43 but the xtreme 2 and xtreme 3 just can't compete in the sub bass department 50hz n below....

Xb 43 doesn't have any delay and im able to enjoy movies on it too. I would think extreme 3 would be same

So it's a no-brainer imo
The highs of the JBL is somewhat piercing, while the Sony is a little more settled. The JBL’s bass, (because of its highs), is more faded out, while the Sony’s bass is a little more punchier. Bottom line, your choice should be decided upon what kind of music you like to listen to. If it’s rap, old school hip hop and 80’s rock and roll, Sony. If it’s Country music, blues, jazz, or current hardcore rock and roll, JBL.

also you can still EQ the sony to sound whatever you want.
Since XB30 (the last decent speaker from Sony) you definetely have to correct the sound and push the highs with it's implemented EQ (via Sony App). Default the highs are an insult for normal ears. Even with XBASS it doesn't get better. They should instead had implemented a Loudness Mode what pushes bass and highs. I don't quite understand why Sony mess up again and again when it comes to default sound setting. Hardware is pretty OK but setup is crap. Maybe in Japan it is forbidden to push sparkling and definition in highs...
They are not audiophile speaker. Most of the People who get this stuff like bass at low price

I used xb 43 eq manual bass +4 mid +5 high +7 mode extrabass and firmware 3700 is better
I will go for JBL just because it has straps which is very comfortable to carry elsewhere. I don't know why Sony does not have a handle as well as straps. Who will carry Sony xb43 to somewhere in forest or waterfall?

JBL Xtreme 3 is so bright and sharp ear piercing didn't like it.
Sony Xb43 sounds warmer and more balanced. in my opinion better.

Sony: punchier bass
JBL: more natural, and actually more real bass
100% volume
Sony: a bit less dull sound and still a punch of bass
JBL: LOUDER but, annoying mids and treble and not that much bass and maybe a little bit of distortion in the mid-highs

@@nicholaschanvn Trust me, i had Xtreme 2 which is almost same as xtreme 3, once the volume hits 70% to 100% full volume the bass dissapears, all you hear is mids and treble.. IF you want a reall bass of JBL just get the Boombox which keeps the bass even at higher volumes, the xtreme 2/3 bass is only good when the volume is at 30 to 60% after 70% the bass starts to dissapear. Still Boombox over xtreme
JBL more natural ? No way. So much highs, the treble is too much. Sony sounds more natural.

Absolutely! When something sounds how you like, you'll like it more!
Yes. And especially when you have to keep the volume down. At night when I am up and everyone else is sleeping I use the EQ features a lot to great effect. Plus, I use this speaker at work where low bass is lost in the factory noise. I just EQ the bass way down and save a lot of battery life.
