I’ve always enjoyed training an hour or 2 after a meal, better pumps and stamina. But I’ve been training fasted for the past 3 years because I’m not getting up at 3am to eat so I can train at 4am. Its really all about recovery.
You guys aren't even talking about what KIND of exercise. Your body uses carbs as fuel first and foremost for cardio and explosive training. If you train while fasting, your body might use what you had eaten yesterday, and that might be enough for 1 hour or 2 of weight lifting. But that may not be enough if you training involves cardio, explosive training, and weight lifting. Sure the avarage joe might not need to eat much if he ate a lot last night and trains first thing in the morning, but that also depends on what he ate. And for some people who want to train for a couple of hours after work, doing more than just lifting weights, they need to have some carbs, or else they won't perform above their 40%
Pretty sure that's all covered under "Do what makes you feel best." If doing what the science says makes you feel like crap you won't perform very well either. This encourages exploring both options to find what makes YOU perform YOUR best. General nutrition is just that. General. Not individual specific.
When I eat before, I have so much energy that I get more more sets and reps and when doing cardio, I can last longer. I just feel overall energetic and stronger. Light weight!!!!!!!
I use to workout fasted then started eating 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a protein shake and some fruit and I went from benching 185 6 reps to benching 185 10 reps carbs and a pre workout meal was huge for me and I would recommend it to anyone that has been going to the gym fasted. Just eat 1-1/2 hours before your workout so you have time to digest
Made Good brand rice krispy treat (90 calories) and 35 grams of protein about an hour before my workout and 35 grams of protein right after. Then about two hours later I get a meal with some protein and carbs in. When cutting I remove the rice krispy treat.
Eating before a workout has always, always been a mistake for me. It's a quick pathway to acid reflux and nausea. Whether my diet is low carb or high carb, I get my best workouts if I have had at least 4 hours between my last meal and the workout
People's health is so messed up, they can't go much time without food because once their stomach is empty, detoxification symptoms start and they feel like crap. The ''solution'' is usually, keep eating to make sure stomach is never empty!
Basically he doesn't know the answer. Can tell by his loud reaction. If you listen to Dorian Yates 6x Mr Olympia he states that you want the insulin response after, he was very methodical in his training. This guy just makes it up as he goes.
So basically all that science and information about having a certain amount of easy digestive sugar carbs like dextrose ect ect for example right after a workout to spike anabolic insulin is pretty much bull ?
@@earlcoles5215 of course dextrose will trigger insulin but workout triggers muscle protein synthesis - not dextrose. Insulin is just to get dextrose into tissues. Dextrose after workout is bs. But there is nothing wrong either if someone likes to have it.
@@MJ-qj3xb I understand what you are talking about. I guess my main question for post workout , will it make a big difference whether I have just a simple protein shake alone or if it is best to mix it with carbs to replenish the glycogen storage ? I do eat a lot of carbs throughout the day : 80 % good carbs 20% trashy carbs ..just so you know .... Id really appreciate the response sir
@@earlcoles5215 my opinion - there is nothing wrong about protein shakes or carbs postworkout. If you feel good about it… What I am trying to say - these things are not compulsory or even necessary for muscle building. Regular diet will have same effect. Building diet around ‘jacking insulin’ notion is a step too far.
I’m reassured that I’m not the only one who really feels good working out fasted
No
Best feeling ever 🔥
Im sure your workouts aren’t difficult
Listen to your body and how your energy level is and go from there. Everyone is different.
I love working out fasted! I have so much more energy

If you're meal frequency is on point you'll be eating an hour or 2 before training and an hour after. Boom! Done!
Yeah it really comes down to you. For me, half a Guru, a pbandj, and if im really hungry half a banana before a workout does me great.
Are we talking about 2 or 3 hours for the gym not eating or a 10-hour fasted state.
Eat between sets. Boom. Best of both worlds
😂😂😂
Boom throwup

I have to eat after workout either way. If I am cutting I don’t eat before workout.

I eat before and after my workout
It works fellas
