I would man I totally get having crazy personal struggles that's what got me. If I can ever set something aside I always like donating something somewhere and that would be an excellent cause. Also did you see my other comment here about Rick Jones Green Hulk circa 1989? When he was the legit only green hulk for a brief time?
“I hope you guys have a good excuse for robbing a strip club.” Robbers: “Strip club?!” everyone turns to one guy One of the Robbers: “I thought it was a place filled with magicians.” More Peter David Hulk on the Chanel is always welcome!
I got into Hulk when Peter David was writing it and he left a huge impression. The Pantheon, the Maestro, adventures in Asgard with a fake ginger Thor, shoving his own intestines back into himself after being gutted by Speed Freak... great stuff.
I actually have 417-418, signed inside and out by PAD when I met him in 97. Still some of my most prized possessions, still one of my best days ever. Great guy. I really hope he gets through this.
I met Peter David back in 2019 and got him to sign my 2099 collection and secret wars tie in that he wrote. He is a really fun dude. I hope he gets better
The Pantheon Saga was during one of the weirder 90's periods. When Marvel and DC thought that Hulk and Superman respectively, needed guns??? Gestalt was an interesting one and done villain/concept. The standalone antagonists used to happen a lot in Wolverine's early solo book and 80's-mid 90's X-Men. I wish they did it more. Instead of focusing on the favourites or derivates of them. I remember the Batchelor Party issue actually getting Hulk onto my pull list for a year or two. The art really impressed me at the time, too. I liked the subtle Mistress Death cameo too. Foreshadowing later stories.
I'm surprised Peter David has never been brought in to right anything for the MCU. They brought Chris Yost and Craig Kyle to write Thor Ragnarok, they could bring David on.
Ooh I had the Bachelor Party issue when I was like 12 years old! I really liked Professor Hulk and those stories. Peter David wrote a lot of funny pages. Gary Frank drew my favorite Hulk for sure.
There's also a She Hulk issue that has someone trying to blackmail Jen with a sex tape. And I just realized that makes She Hulk even more comic accurate...
Ben is very engaging on screen. He could totally get a job educating the local kids in some kind of library comic book program. If you can keep an ADHD-addled adult like myself engaged for this long, you could definitely hold the attention of kids. 😂 Also, just wanted to say you guys are awesome for wanting to help Peter David.👍
In regards to Hulk 385 it takes place during Infinity Gauntlet issue 6, after Adam Warlock has the Infinity Gauntlet and teleports Hulk, Nebula, Drax, and Star Fox away, prior to that Nebula didn't undo the snap, so it was Adam ( who took his sweet ass time) to restore the universe.
I’m not sure if it’s been done yet but a episode of the good the bad and the ugly with free comic book day, comics would be a cool idea…my pick would be the Ironman Nova comic from like 2011 it was just before they changed up Nova!
Wow, these all sound awesome. You've sold me on going back to read Peter David's Hulk run. That wedding issue sounds like so much fun and exactly the sort of thing I'd love more of in comics.
@39:45 It is cool. Greg Weismann did something similar in season 2 of Young Justice, with Rocket’s bachelorette brunch-inn and Capt. Cold trying to rob the armored car parked outside.
How about that part of the Mcfarlane hulk era when Rick became the legit green hulk (said to be bigger stronger and more ferocious than any green hulk seen before at least by the characters in the book including Bruce) for at least a few issues. I had the one with him ripping the roof off some kind of Hulkbusters attack plane on the cover and the one where he befriends the crazy mutated lizard people in the desert. From that specific run. Being as old as I am 41 in 3 weeks I have or used to have a ton of those 80s early 90s hulk comics. Another from that era that comes to mind is the Countdown arc. Love them all.
I didn't read a lot of Hulk back in the day, but that first issue you covered, the Infinity Gauntlet tie-in, it was one of those back issues books that I'd run into all the time when I was out buying comics. I think it was packaged.... somewhere... with two or three other books in a bag for like $3 or $4. So, I wound up with a couple of copies. I found it an eerie and dark, and really fascinating story. I'm really excited to hear you guys talk about it.
Great episode guys! Didnt know much about hulk comics before but these ones were very interesting, especially that first one. That's a crazy book to be your first hulk comic! Speaking of first comics, my first Spider-Man comic was unfortunately the Sins Past arc. I found the whole arc in a thrift shop for pocket change when I was a boy. In a way, you could say that hit me in a profound way also!
I don't remember the issue with Gestalt right off but do fondly remember most of Peter David's run on The Incredible Hulk including the story with the bachelor party so was a little surprised it didn't "win" just because I remember it being a really fun issue due to plenty of humor. The young female archer is Atalanta. As others have already said, she and the others were part of a group called the Pantheon. For anyone who might not have known, Peter David also did a number of Star Trek novels. So, maybe check out those comic fans! It's a SMASHING good video! ;-)
I love The Maxx proudly flipping the camera off over Sal's shoulder every time we cut to the Salcam For my personal best of the trio, I have to give it to the wedding issue. It's the kind of fun character drama that makes me enjoy superteams; if you don't have stuff like that, your team is gonna be miserable, for better or worse.
Really enjoyed this, keep up the phenomenal work. What I got from this episode the most is I really want Sue and Steve to get together. Also I want to say thank you in advance to the Comic Pop crew, my birthday is next Wednesday, and on next Wednesday a episode of Back Issues is coming out. So it feels like a birthday gift from y'all, thank you so very much.❤️❤️❤️❤️
IMO this is j e if the greatest character defining runs I. Comic book history. Dale keowns art elevated the hulk from a savage and often “dumpy” looking character to a handsome emerald god that looked like he could bench press a battle as a warm up routine, and Peter David’s characterization of not only banner but of the entire supporting cast of this run made you look at them as people with powers, not just powers that were wielded by people . The portrayal of the hulk as a person suffering from mental illness and misunderstood by even his closest of friends was years ahead of its time and David he created the hulk that we all know and love that’s being used in the MCU today . This is top notch modern comic book fair and to this day I follow Peter David wherever he goes that man is a comic god!
...I think you could make a really strong case that Gestalt, or the force directly behind him, makes a return in the entirety of Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk run.
The thing about Incredible Hulk 385 Hulk gets back to Earth not only doesn’t he bother to tell anyone about what’s going on with the heroes, disappearing populous and Thanos, but he also doesn’t bother finding out what happened to the Abomination, who Hulk was fighting before he got zapped/recruited to fight Thanos. So yeah Hulk be neglecting things left & right LOL
Help out Peter David today: www.gofundme.com/f/peter-david-fund?
I would man I totally get having crazy personal struggles that's what got me. If I can ever set something aside I always like donating something somewhere and that would be an excellent cause. Sal getting punked by an offscreen Hulk hand really feels like the moment after "Hi I'm Sal and Welcome to Comicpop *Corona by The Minutemen*"
“I hope you guys have a good excuse for robbing a strip club.”
Robbers: “Strip club?!” everyone turns to one guy
One of the Robbers: “I thought it was a place filled with magicians.”
More Peter David Hulk on the Chanel is always welcome!
I can't not think of Randy Pitchford while reading that.
humor that only peter david could love.
This episode taught me two things.
1. I need to get around to reading David's Hulk.
2. I would like A-Force to be a book again.
I got into Hulk when Peter David was writing it and he left a huge impression. The Pantheon, the Maestro, adventures in Asgard with a fake ginger Thor, shoving his own intestines back into himself after being gutted by Speed Freak... great stuff.
Peter David is one of the greatest Hulk writers of all time. It's a treat to watch you guys cover his run!
I actually have 417-418, signed inside and out by PAD when I met him in 97. Still some of my most prized possessions, still one of my best days ever. Great guy. I really hope he gets through this.
The Pantheon was one of my favorite concepts of a secret super team.
I'm sad no one ever picked them back up.
I met Peter David back in 2019 and got him to sign my 2099 collection and secret wars tie in that he wrote. He is a really fun dude. I hope he gets better
I personally loved the Peter david hulk run. He created some great characters.
Those guys are the Pantheon, a bunch of demi-gods who used to role with the Hulk in David's run
Would love to see more GBUs like this where you guys highlight a creator! This was a ton of fun
Peter David is one of my favorite writers, but funny enough, I've never read his entire Hulk run. Just chucks of it. Love his She Hulk though 😆
In the Infinity Gauntlet story that would be Ajax and Atalanta members of the Pantheon.
Yessss Peter David’s Hulk run is incredible, there’s so many stories to pick from his legendary run
Peter David has had so many excellent comic runs. His Young Justice was amazingly fun
Hector was probably based on a former best man at Peter's wedding. Rick's friends are The Teen Brigade.

I plan to own every Hulk (and X-Factor) omnibus that includes Peter David's work. He's ultra awesome!
I own the omnibus, all good stuff
I'm surprised Peter David has never been brought in to right anything for the MCU. They brought Chris Yost and Craig Kyle to write Thor Ragnarok, they could bring David on.
What this episode hammers home is that PAD had something to say, always. And we love him for that
This might be my favorite thumbnail from Comicpop.
“ i’m a pot of rage right now.“ I have never seen Tiffany so worked up. 😁
all great issues! Captain America and Invisible Woman ship is something I didn't know I wanted in my life.
Right??
Highlighting a single creator awesome idea and what a choice I tell u well done Sal and gang and as always love the content and keep it up
Ooh I had the Bachelor Party issue when I was like 12 years old! I really liked Professor Hulk and those stories. Peter David wrote a lot of funny pages. Gary Frank drew my favorite Hulk for sure.
The Incredible Hulk #417 is basically the Tom Hanks movie Bachelor Party from the early 80’s but with Marvel Heroes.
The good the bad and the ugly, and back issues are my favorite. Thank you to everyone involved.
Well, might as well do a peter david hulk volume on back issues. This was nostalgic and great.
Peter David's Hulk is the reason that character is one of my favs. Professor H 4 life
Like these GBU’s focusing on a creator. A Mark Waid Flash/Impulse episode would be awesome!
Peter David's run on Hulk is amazing and this video was incredible!
There's also a She Hulk issue that has someone trying to blackmail Jen with a sex tape. And I just realized that makes She Hulk even more comic accurate...

Oh Tiffany needs to read the wedding issue, there’s an unbelievable cameo in it 45:05
It's funny that Sal mentions the Gestalt issue being his first Hulk book. The Bachelor Party issue was mine. I don't even remember why now...

I've been putting off reading peter david's hulk run. I guess I'm gonna have to do it now. Loved him on x-factor investigations. Should be a fun ride.
As a fanboy of the S-Man, harbinger of Thor, I fully endorse Peter David content on this channel.
Really enjoyed this. Thanks ya'll. My favorite era of Hulk comics.
How about that part of the Mcfarlane hulk era when Rick became the legit green hulk (said to be bigger stronger and more ferocious than any green hulk seen before at least by the characters in the book including Bruce) for at least a few issues. @41:41 I love Tiffany’s Ryan George Pitch Meeting reference wow wow WOW.
Gestalt is also a school of therapy...such a versatile word
Ahhh it's a new episode my favorite show!!!!!

Imagining little Sal sitting at the breakfast table reading that Hulk comic with a sense is dread to start the day
Love PD. Awesome as always ComicPoP. I have the whole PD Hulk run in omnibus!!
I ordered the vol 1 omnibus of this run. Cannot wait to start reading it!
I don't remember the issue with Gestalt right off but do fondly remember most of Peter David's run on The Incredible Hulk including the story with the bachelor party so was a little surprised it didn't "win" just because I remember it being a really fun issue due to plenty of humor.

It's a SMASHING good video! ;-)
Issues when its just the Avengers or Xmen hanging out tend to be some of the best for some reason.
Those characters showed up again in the recent Maestro series, they are known as The Parthenon
I love The Maxx proudly flipping the camera off over Sal's shoulder every time we cut to the Salcam
For my personal best of the trio, I have to give it to the wedding issue. It's the kind of fun character drama that makes me enjoy superteams; if you don't have stuff like that, your team is gonna be miserable, for better or worse.

You know the way to sway Tiffany so she wants to read the follow-up wedding story is to let her know of the cameo by Neil Gaiman’s Death, right? :)
David's Infinity Gauntlet cross-over issue of Hulk reminds me a bit of his Imperiex War cross-over issue of Supergirl.
PAD, a man not to be trifled with. Great writer.
Loving the Thumbnail!
Its rare there isn't an ugly on a GBU.

A new bedtime story!
Oh, this is gonna be good!
I've been waiting for this episode for a long time.
This gave me a legitimate laugh out loud moment. Great work.😂❤
Yay!! I love these videos guys (: Peter David hulk is always a good time especially with the comicpop crew
Peter David's Hulk run was my childhood.
Gestalt and his horde of mad followers reminds me of Dionysus and his horde of drunk crazy followers.
The mech suit guy and bow lady from 385 are Ajax and Atalanta of the Pantheon.
Always a pleasant surprise when a GBU episodes lands! Fingers crossed for a Legion of Superheroes GBU
Dang I miss when I had those Hulk gloves
I HAD THOSE GLOVES AS KID!
my poor brother
So happy to see a new 'The good The Bad and The ugly' episode!!!!
Peter David best hulk writer ever! Just got the whole epic collection!
It was the pantheon in the first comic. Ajax was the guy in a mech suit. Or at least it looks like him.
I love the thumbnail for this video!
Peter David FTW!
Hooray Hulk and GBU YES!
Loving the content this week!!! ….and every other week lmao
...I think you could make a really strong case that Gestalt, or the force directly behind him, makes a return in the entirety of Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk run.
Are these new cameras? The video quality is fantastic!
Yay! Im just excited for gbu. Miss this show
Hello ComicPop Returns
0:54 hey Tiffany! 👋
I think the Archer and big guy were Atlanta and Ajax
Love this series.
Lol Captain America and Sue>>>>> Namor and Sue
If Cap thought she was a magician he does not want to know where she's pulling the rabbit from
Forgot to comment
29:15 - I think it's a normal sized robe. Marlo's just a big lady.
Peter David was epic 🎉with the Hulk 😊

Gestalt wil be revealed to be "humanity's Hulk" one day.
I like your hat Tiffany! Silent Hulk. Hulk Hill.
😁
More GBUs please! Multiple Comic Pop videos help me get through the work week!
SHRIEEEEEEKIIIIIIIING
Gastalt needs to come back
I miss light-hearted comics like the Bachelor party issue.
