And now Terfell's left. None left from the original cast.
Loved this production so much. I wish the Met would hurry up and put it on DVD; I want my own copy!
There was a production that the Met did (2 performances of it on "Opera on Demand" on their website that were just horrid -- Mario's painting of Mary Magdalene has the model exposing one breast, during the "Te Deum", Scarpia kisses a statue of the Virgin Mary on the lips, at the beginning of Act 2, Scarpia is surrounded by a group of women who (I guess) have finished being sexual with him, Tosca stabs him and sits there fanning herself after.....oof, no thanks!
i dont like mr.terfel either!!
singers at the met sucks!!
Alfredo Loyola too much doe a deer, this is a opera song #soundofmusic
back to. zeffirellis ideas?
thats the reason the. met
opera has no money!!one
stupid production after
another!!and they have the
nerve to criticize zeffirelli
production!!thats why!!they
are short of money all the
time. the soprano is not
the voice of tosca!!hello?
she is a lyric soprano!!
mr.grigolo is very handsome
and very passionate!!but he
is not the voice of. mario
cavaradossi!!. the baritone
is ok.i dont like him very
much,but as an scarpia?
well,will see it!!
Zeffirelli had "ideas"? Where? This is no more like his Tosca than it is like the Schenk/Heinrich that Zeffirelli's replaced. There was nothing innovative to credit him with for doing the opera in the historical period and spending as much money as possible on the sets. What there was in the way of actual direction from him by 1985 was pretty silly.
Zeffirelli was a decorator, nothing more. Opera should be a bit more than a big set and pretty costumes.
