    Hi Paul, I'm a 20 yr old college student who's recently got into gemstones. Thank you so much for covering the trivia and history of this gemstone. I saw it in my local jewelery store today and fell in love with it. Its an emerald cut that is around 40% amethyst and 60% citrine. Went home and found your channel while looking for its characteristics. I have also subscribed to your channel, I will now look into your videos on emeralds and sapphires (I have a necklace and ring made from them)

    Thank you, Paul. This is once again very valuable information about the bicolored stones. Also, I will also say BOTH of your gemstone books, i.e. Colored Gemstones and Opals, are very well researched and a wealth of knowledge.

    Ametrine is very special to me as amethyst is my husband's birthstone and citrine (or topaz depending on how old you are), is mine. My husband gave me an ametrine ring 30 years ago as a valentines gift. Thank you for doing an episode on it. I know this a late post, but I just wanted you to know how much this info is appreciated.

If you want the physical coffee table book, it is on sale for $17 USD but I will have to check what shipping would be. Send me your Aussie Address and I will let you know what shipping costs. I have been to your country a few times visiting the opal mines in Coober Pedy, Lambina Station, and Mintabie. Also loved our time in Sydney, Queensland, and Alice Springs!

    I'm 40 and still have no clue on this.....I look at pearls at Tiffanys and I look at pearls at Costcos. Very different prices. I would love to understand why one is so much more money (besides the name brand). I want knowledge to purchase a pair of pearl earrings that are of very high quality and should hold value like my diamonds do. Can you please do a video on this? I've asked other people and they say they have idea either. I remember my grandmother had a pearl necklace that she cherished and they look a bit yellow in color. I need help :)

    • @pauldeasygemstones
      @pauldeasygemstones  3 года назад

      Hi Heather, that is an excellent question! I will certainly give a lesson on pearls in the future (and I will read your question on the Q&A segment on my next video). The short version? First, nothing at Tiffany's is going to be cheap! That said, there are natural saltwater pearls (Tahitians, South Sea Golden Pearls) and others that command a big price tag. Then there are freshwater cultured pearls. Much more affordable. There are farms (on the water) who insert a bit of tissue into a mollusk (most of that tissue is from mollusks from the Mississippi river, by the way). Some of those pearls that are colored are usually dyed. Not a problem as long as any treatment is disclosed to you. I will cover more ground.....or sea...when I do a full lesson on the channel.

    Awesome lesson! Are these Ametrine 5 to 10cm towers mostly heat treated or totally natural? Looking at the towers you tend to think it is a natural cut off real crystal but is this true?

    I would like to apologize for the confusion regarding my last question on gold quartz I was referring specifically to the gemstone. that looks like it has small lines of gold actually trapped in the stone . I was wanting more information on this Stone called gold rutilated quartz crystal. maybe a lesson on it specifically. Thank you for all you do . And sorry about the confusion.

    • @pauldeasygemstones
      @pauldeasygemstones  3 года назад +1

      No worries. I figured it was either the gold in quartz or the rutillated quartz. Love the rutillated quartz. Those golden needles are called Rutile, which is where titanium comes from (it is titanium oxide). It is a spectacular and relatively affordable gemstone. Incidentally, if you see the quartz with the black needles, that is called "Tourmalinated Quartz". That is black tourmaline inside the quartz.

    Sir
    Is stabilized and impregnated turquoise the same?
    Or is there any difference?

    • @pauldeasygemstones
      @pauldeasygemstones  3 года назад

      Great questions, Salah! I will use your question on a future lesson. Technically they are not the same thing. All impregnated turquoise is stabilized, but not all stabilized turquoise is impregnated. The most common method of stabilizing turquoise is to impregnate it with a colorless resin. That said, there is another method of stabilization called "the Zachary Method" that stabilizes some high grade turquoise using proprietary method that does not use any resins or impregnation.
