"it is just like the real thing" HAHAHA that got me good, man i can't believe for how long i've been watching your videos, must've been a couple years by now, or more, thank you
To be fair, Sim Racing and drifting takes a bit of adaptation to driving style. In the sim many of your usual inputs are not there, no vibrations, butt dyno, lateral Gs and yaw. So you have to drive by the steering feel and visual cues only. You also don't have depth perception / speed sensation on the screen, for that VR is a game changer, but you still have less feel than IRL to drive the thing.
@@FG-418 I feel that actually practicing on the sim make you a better drifter irl also because you learn to use different cues and feelings that you might not use that much irl and then when you jump back in the real car your brain take all these parameters into consideration while driving.
@@XxPsykosXS Oh yeah totally agree, both sim seat time and IRL seat time makes me a better driver. My point was that it's pretty normal for someone who has a lot of track experience and almost no sim time to be better IRL. Also I can try and practice things in the sim I wouldn't dare to try first IRL from fear of crashing the car.
Seeing things like you kicking the clutch mid drift to increase the rpm or (I think) double clutching an upshift at 3:13 give me an increased apreciation for your skill and make it easier to learn what to do when I'm drifting. Please make this a more regular occurence, I really really enjoyed this!

The pedal cam adds so much more insight how fast and rough you handle the pedals and makes the "physics" of drifting pretty understandable, even though I never did it before
I totally agree with your critique on the shoes making them non-ideal for driving, and it's not just the heel part but also the flared sides of the outsole that make them prone to catching the side of pedals.
Funny i was driving on the C1 inner loop in AC, the notification got me to an emergency break to watch and now i need to download some mods asap ^^ Thanks Alexi ;) Edit: this car is big fun and the track is rly nice (to get into simdrifting XD)
@@AWSpoofwil There's a mod by a different community called "Shutoko Revival Project", and they've released a really nice replica of the Shutoko, including the C1 loop Beware though, it's a bit of a bitch to install, as you'll need some custom shader packs to get it working properly
The pedal cam gave me more of an insight into your technique, cool do see how you handle the car trough the corners, when to use the clutch, when to just use the sheer power to drift trough the corner. Quite cool actually
I've got an old pair of Etnies Scout, which I only use for driving. They have a super soft & thin sole for insane feel. They are incredibly comfortable & kinda hug the heel so that you don't damage the floor mat & have a larger area for your heel to touch the ground. I love them
I bought a pair of these exact shoes for work a couple of years ago because I was sick of cheap shoes giving me no support and wearing out. I figured NB had a good reputation for support and whatnot. But they were basically the same level of quality and support as the cheap shoes from Big W and Rivers I had been wearing so I was disappointed. If I knew they were what Takumi was wearing, that may have softened the blow somewhat.
My favorite driving sneakers: Nike Air Max 90. You can feel the pedals and the air at the back part is comfy for the ankles when driving for a long time.
Fascinating. I never watched a drift video with a pedal cam. I thought, there would be a lot more breaking and playing with the clutch involved. This gives me hope that one day I too may be able to drift a bit. :D
I actually have a pair of these, but I have the All Coast 574s, the skater version of the shoe. The only difference is that it has a flat sole and it sounds like they would be better for drifting for anyone interested!
