Can't stop watching this. The tune was always a tongue twister of highest format. The combination of this and the totally unrelated Fred Astaire clips makes it even better. Very Clever.

Fun! I play a version of "Istanbul" that mixes the Four Lads with They Might Be Giants for folks in assisted living centers. I had considered doing a mash-up with "Puttin' On the Ritz" so it's particularly gratifying seeing a video featuring Fred Astaire, who made the latter song famous.
I really like the song. I have no idea of the politics and the trauma within the history of the Istanbul / Constantinople song. Just wanted to let the band know they are amazing. Love to you, everyone X
not much trauma tbh. Christian League plundered the also Christian Constantinople many times during Holy Wars and ruined it, Ottoman Turks swept in and conquered the broken Empire, repopulated it with the natives, let the once prohibited Armenians into the city and so on.
@@brainblox5629 yeah those Armenians love the Turks just like the Greeks who lived their when the ottomans took it and when a few incidents that never happened ever happened
@@ConmanCAM Armenians were never content with the Eastern Romans. Their church was declared heretic by the Greek orthodox church. They weren't allowed into Constantinople. I got here from DrWorm from They Might Be Giants who sang this very song for a Tiny Toons episode. The original song was made in the 50's... For the 800th birthday of the fall of Constantinople when the Ottoman empire took it apparently. That was a weird youtube run my friends...
Son cover 1990 yılında they might be giants tarafından yapılmıştır.
