Undertale Purgatory is an AU. An after-universe. A collection of familiar faces have gathered to exact revenge on you. They might be shells of their former selves, but they gleefully look forward to tormenting you for all of eternity.
This is new Undertale content that I've looked to forward to debuting! A continuation in the same series as the Mario and Sonic Purgatory videos I have previously done. What makes this series great for shorts is that I can truly make the loops endless. Swipe away if you want to escape, otherwise, stay trapped in Undertale Purgatory... forever.

judging by how faded the text is, it feels like sans, and probably the other purgatory versions of the monsters, are able to speak: just very, very silently

@@ihonestlydontcare4464 I assume, the "barrier" the heart/player is in doesn't allows him to attack you, it explains the spikes shaking the screen due to impact, bones dodging the barrier and gaster blaster? It just broke.

Real talk this is actually really creepy. This is what Sans meant by him never letting the player get another turn. Just constantly taunting the player, making it think it'll all end with one attack... But the attack always fails.

Interesting how all of the purgatorys you made they deprive the characters of their gameplay aspect and also their death, Mario can't jump, Sonic can't run, Frisk can't interact (Fight, Act, Item, Mercy) it's a pysicological punishment that deprives us from their main aspect.
And also death, Sonic is so close to killing himself with the spikes, Mario is so close to dying to the purple mushroom, And Frisk is so close to being hit by attacks in general, yet they can't die, deprived from who they are and from finding rest, trully their pugatory.

I think an interesting thing to point out is while the other fights have the attacks be blocked by the indestructible box, Sans' attacks are instead either fake outs or intentionally avoiding the box entirely, he more than likely could break through the box if he wanted, but prefers to cause you as much suffering as you caused his friends

You will notice that after the crushing walls, the swinging axe, and the ancient Gaster Blaster he grins widely, then after the bone attacks both the flying one and the ones that go under the box he makes an animation almost as if he's laughing.
Basically no character can... don't smoke weird things... do you think he would take pity on you? With the way he looks, I don't think he would have a very good time. and if he wants to make you suffer he would do it and then he would kill you. it does not make any sense.
If you take away the intentionality missed attacks, this is basically his plan in the game: traping you in his turn until you give up and quit

Detail that has kind have gone unnoticed is the second attack where the bone is spun. IT GETS IN THE BOX. Its shallow but he gets through the indestructible box and probably could actually kill the player unlike most of the other bosses who are genuinely trying but can't

@Tacoboy560 I mean thinking back to the fight in the game San's goal is to basically hold off the player since he knows he can't save everyone. Even his final attack is to just keep you stuck forever. This is probably the ideal situation for him in a sick kind of way.

When you think of it, papyrus could have too. When he dunks you in the pot EXTREMELY hot spaghetti, it might have been possible to kill Frisk with the radiating heat.
Imagine if after hundreds of cycles, getting hit by that one bone for a single point of damage, you get to the last hp and it just does .5, never killing you like the asriel beam

To me it seemed more like he was still kinda trying, but since it's purgatory by now, he has too little energy to focus enough to actually hit or is too weak/deteriorated to complete the attack (like with the gaster blaster seeming way more powerful, but breaking before impact)

Fun fact: As far as I'm aware this is the only one where the fight isn't an infinite stalemate, this is because the singular bone Sans missed actually went in the box, meaning if you walked into the top right corner, you could take damage, rinse and repeat until death.
The spikes at the beginning do slightly penetrate the box if you focus enough
the problem with that is I don't see an hp bar anywhere

If you look really closely at his spinning bone “attack”, you can see it actually goes into the box. Frisk could of exited purgatory because of that

Every time he attacks, you get false hope, but due to this being a so called purgatory, eventually that hope becomes wishful thinking, and that wishful thinking becomes a false reality, a lie. Every time he attacks he smiles, knowing it won't hit, knowing you'll truly never leave.

if you look closesly the bone trow attack part of it hits the inside of the box, if the human was actually smart it would've walked to that part.

Crazy how Sans is willing to essentially kill himself so you don't. This a extremely dark AU, probably the darkest i've seen: Not because it's bloody, or that violent compared to some, it's just torture. The sweet release of death is what Frisk would want after waiting for their turn for so long that Sans is decomposing as everything around them is disintegrated.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that this is basically Frisk/Chara's eternal TORMENT for their crimes. Eternally trapped in a cramped space, unable to attack, to escape or even spare. They can only suffer eternally, hoping that they'll eventually die, reset and return to the regular timeline.... but they never DO. And this goes on over and over and OVEr for all eternity.
I like this theory, especially since the only action buttone simply says "REMEMBER".

This is actually a neat take on an Undertale fight. The boss always taunts you with attacks but it never actively hurts you, almost as if it's mocking the state you're in.
No that's not how it goes, this is purgatory, basically they can't kill frisk, frisk can't interact and the enemies can't kill, it's a fight beyond death that won't end, frisk killed them all and so now she fights them all but it doesn't end, purgatory deprives the character of there main aspect, in conclusion purgatory is just a never ending fight and it deprives characters of there main aspect, they can't win or lose
So they were sent to a circle of hell.
He's been faking his attacks for so long and to the point that he is now literally incapable of inflicting damage.

This sans has figured out that he won’t die if he’s in the middle of his turn. He attacks infinitely and keeps you locked in battle with him, forever. He knows that he’s won; he smiles in victory

The point here is that Sans has kept this going for so long that Frisk/The Player WANTS to die, and active waiting for lethal damage... But Sans wont let them die, because the fight would start over. If they never die, the fight wont reset. He's trapped them until the end of time. This place of eternal suffering... Is why it's called Purgatory.
