- this is the last video on this 50 year old kubota that was left outside unloved for a long time, lets see if we can fix all of its ailments and make it a working machine again,
Mustie, I know from all the well wishes you have received, you may have an idea of how much we appreciate and love your work, and the sharing of your knowledge and personality. Thank you! What a treat it is when I open you tube and see a new adventure of Mustie 1 and the wrenches. We all love your efforts. Each episode is like sharing time with an old friend. Keep up the good work.
Thank you David Goodwin. My sentiments, your eloquence. Perfect.
Great content. Love seeing the home country shots at the end.
Mustie, your videos are never too long.
Fantastic you are feeling better, take it easy and look after yourself for a while 👍
You are a bad ass!! I wish all were like you!
Hey Mustie, look's like you need just a little more separation in your bolt collection, young fellow. LOL.
Sorry to be off topic but I watched your video on the old Lawson outboard. Is it possible you could point me in the direction of where to purchase that coupling you used
with your drill to spin the motor. I'm 80 , have 14 old outboards that I still enjoy working on but don't have the endurance to pull those starting cords anymore. I do appreciate
the variety of your videos. Thanks very much.
That thing runs like a formula 1 race car!!!
That same bulb is on Ebay for $15 +$3 shipping ...for 3 bulbs
good to hear you sound a lot better then last time. Do you /feel/ better?
This is not associated with this video but might I say if you read the comments I went the local church thrift shop and found a husvarna 223 L for $20 “they said ran rough don’t really know much need it gone “ and I look down choke was off, the little lady working didn’t know and didn’t care it is perfect will never find that again did a carb rebuild anyways for it only thing it needs is string and gas
I would not use that as an air cleaner! You can see light coming into it at the bottom! The flow of air will favour the route of Less resistance! It will still draw In dust and dirt!!!
That Sunday couple weeks ago without Mustie's video was just not feeling right. I am so happy you are feeling better and sounding better too!
A couple OF weeks ago.
to be fair it spent 10 years as lawn art so the fact it makes noise and even moves is a win, I think that's amazing
Sounds like you don't know much about diesel tractors.
hey quick tip. when you don't have a tap, you can cut a slot in a bolt so that the dirt and grime has somewhere to go, and you kind of get a "cutting" edge. like a tap. the more the merrier
Exactly what I was going to comment.
👍 Yep, I use that thrick very often when I don't have the proper tap as Mustie1.
I also grind the tip of the screw flat as a cutting edge and have the slot at an angle. Very effective
In my case, My late Dad, a machinist, taught me the trick decades ago when I was 10 or twelve.
was scrolling for this comment. lets upvote it to the top
Pretty sure I learned that trick from Mustie :D
That's pretty much a thread chaser
Mustie1. “You came back to life” Glad your feeling better!
I saw the new video so I started it. When Mustie started talking about a list, I knew it was going to be one of "those" videos. I stopped it, got a drink, and dug it. I was ready for a good video.
I really liked the transmission fork linkage part, always wondered what was happening in there. The three point piston seal blow by is definitely something I’d tune into seeing tackled.
Might want to take your cutoff wheel and run a groove or two or three across the threads on the sacrificial bolt. Kind of like making your own tap. Seems to work much better for me when I'm trying to clean up threads.
Glad to see you back and I hope you're not having any lingering effects from Covid.
Yeah that's pretty much the best way of cleaning them up without a tap
100% the way to do it if you don't have a tap.. Got to have space for the crap to come out.
Yes it's this best substtute for an actual thread chaser. Without the slots, then the junk just gets shoved further down into the threads.
I was going to make the same suggestion. I once made a tap out of a 1/4" bolt with a hacksaw to reattach the tiller on a little Sunfish sailboat going into aluminum.
Father-in-law thought I was a genius, I just wanted to go sailing. Necessity is the mother-in-law of all invention......
I thought the same. Make your own tap with that bolt.
Yay, sundays are complete once again. Welcome back Mustie1 hope you’re feeling better!
I hope Mustie is doing better. He sounded not so good in his COVID video. Stay strong brother and recover. We will be here.
I put a GARBAGE BAG with tape, or bungee wrap. ON MY UPRight seat for winter storage.
Mustie made his reputation on multi part projects. I've enjoyed seeing the Kubota come back to life. Let's see it finished with a final video.
Your voice is sounding much better! Glad to hear you're healing.
this is old
@@apollorobb no it’s not, he literally talks about it in the first minute of the video.
rust on those shifter rods/springs/detents is often caused by failing shifter boots letting rain water into the transmission. Those rubber boots are probably UV cracked and only a $3 to repair so order a new set. The extra shifter rod balls are inter-locks so you can't shift two gears at once.
Glad to see you back, yeah the Rona is tough the wife and I both went through it back in August. And we were vaccinated so it was nor as bad as it could have been. Looking forward to future videos.
Yep, people, get vaccinated. Daniel here proves it helps even if you get contaminated.
@Daniel Roland Maybe you got it from the vax?
@@daddybob6096 Sorry Sport, doesn't work that way.
Need two cups of coffee for this one..... hope you and the misses are feeling much better ... big hugs.
how would someone pronounce your first name? like rachel or rasheel?
@@lordjaashin En français or in British english, it would be as Raw Shell.
Ra. As in the Sun god…. Shell as in shell. Rachelle. En francais
Ray-shelle would be the pronunciation in English.
Yes I am English
Old mechanics trick. Take a dremel cut off wheel and cut a groove deeper than the threads lengthways along the bolt. The groove does'nt have to be too long . Maybe and inch. Do it to two sides opposite each other. Make sure it's a grade 8 bolt.
My Pop taught me that trick, he called it a “Poor Man’s Tap”
Brakes.... who needs brakes.
Hey bud, glad you're sounding better.
A trick my dad taught me when I was a kid was if you need to chase threads and don't have a tap. You take a spare bolt and make a cut the long way about 1/2" down the threads. This does 2 things. It allows the bolt to compress a bit when going in tight threads and the slot gives a place for the rust and garbage in the hole to migrate to
I was thinking the same. Taps have those groves to take the swarf for the same reason. Your Dad knew his stuff.
I knew someone else had to have known that trick.
I’m 74 years old and I still refer to things my dad taught me.
@@clasic36 59 here
I was thinking the same thing
MY TRACTOR just like that never had rear lights. Probably never was a snow plow. You need them for that in the front and rear
Thing to do is to braze that hub, doesn't crack like weld, good preheat and slow cool will make a huge difference no mater what process you use. as for cleaning out the threads, cut a length wise slot on your sacrificial bolt to make a rudimentary tap
@@1pcfred 🤣🤣🤣
Great save & an awesome series 👍
Great content as always. The shifter repair would be good as a stand alone video so people with this issue can learn about fixing it.
FYI those shift linkage are always a problem. I replaced my case for them and I still have issues with mine.
Watching you piece together the intake kind of reminded me of the Apollo 13 issue of putting together the scrubber problem they had, all you need is some duct tape and your good to go😜
When you're doing the center gears--- Just make sure you let go of the shifter and allow it to self center, then you'll be much less likely to wrestle it into a bind... again, allow it to self center before shifting those two center gears.
So glad you got your engine firing on all four again sounds like you’re about 99%-100% fixed.
Be great to get back to mint content 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The river flows strong & The Kubota lives again!
Lol, I didn't understand the River comment until the very end. It is rolling
@Danny Reis What's wrong with you, buster ? CT or Mark cannot comment here ? Jerk.
yeah kubotas are reliable beast deeres or newhollands older ones wouldnt do that thats why kubotas #1 best worlds products all over the world with 500,000 kubota dealers and contintueing to grow
@@michaelmactavish1728 why does Mahindra say they are the largest. It not like we can really prove or disprove what they say. I own a Kubota and a Mahindra and they both have been really good. It comes down to knowing your equipments limit and proper maintenance to get a long lasting life out of them
@@MARKE911 yeah we dont have mahindra here in my province any more because they went out of business wich only dealers have now only 2 kubota dealers,1 newholland and deere wich deeres and new holland arnt selling many of there machines and kubotas been selling way fast because they where they only 1 products that are the cheapest on the market
The river is flowing at a good rate! This tractor needed a lot of love-it’s no wonder the owner parked it. You’ve done a bang up job reviving it and I certain someone will like to take it off your hands and put to work. 👏🏻🔧❤️
Bolts are for people who can't weld
I find this Kubota series one of your best. If you have more to do I would be most interested. Also intrigued by your reference to "FL..." an organization for recovering from the bug?? That would be most helpful to a great many people YT be damned! Their totalitarian way of running a public business boggles the mind. Funny how if you are an advertiser with them or administration flunky you can say anything ridiculous or not yet if something of importance needs airing the censorship fist comes down quickly. It is hard to believe they are operating in the US. Yet if someone mentions the initials COVID or even 19 they come unglued! Makes useful dialogue impossible while they live off our attention.
There’s such a deep sense of satisfaction reviving machinery! Thanks Mustie!
The owner asked me if I knew somebody who would want to purchase the tractor, "I know just the guy" of course its Mustie! The only letdown is it isn't the "deluxe" model with the "free mouse" (Andrew Camarata quote) option.
I've had my Snap-On test light for 47 years. My most used tool when doing electrical on cars, trucks, tractors. I "loaned" it to a neighbor unknowingly once when helping him solve a problem. I searched my cars and truck for 10 years with disappointment. When they sold and moved 10 years later they had a garage sale. In the bottom of a junk little toolbox, there was my Test Light. I purchased my own tool back for $1.00. Mine looks just like yours with the handle dull and smoothed from my hands. Great to see yours. I love old familiar tools!
50:49 You see one?? 🤣🤣🤣 Loved the tour today through Mustie1's stashes. Great variation of work and lecture. Always nice to have some electrics education. Great to see you back in a healthy way👍👍
At the beginning there was a black lawn cart full of water that was full of mosquitoes. Always dump standing water.🦟🦟🦟🦟🦟🤣
Best part of Sunday morning
Cover that seat with a trash bag. Put a rock on it to keep it from blowing off. We do that on all our tractors. Seats look like new. On these old trucks and tractors, we build up the shift forks with brass and file them down to fit. The brass really works smooth.
I am glad you gave us all a look into the transmission shifting issues. I’ve never torn into one and found it very interesting. Welcome back. You sound good and energetic as ever. Us old guys need you and your old junk, it is what we associate with…no drama, no violence, no foul language and nothing illegal or requiring 1st amendment auditors showing up at your door…. Just good problem solving turning trash into treasure. Thanks a hundred times over….
EES Goot Soviet transmission....Like T-34, Needs hammer and crowbar to shift.
Well done Mustie. Some advise. Please only start the tiller while it’s in the air. Also always use some kind of counter weight when the loader is in use. Otherwise you risk snapping the front axle from to much weight from the bucket and what it’s carrying. Also, please, more videos on the fixes for this tractor. Lets fix that 3pt hitch leak down issue.
.... Beyond your control? Well, you sound healthy again...and without a chicken soup video;)
You need to get a set of Knipex Cobra XS to replace the small channel locks you were using on the headlight switch. Mine are in my pocket 99% of the time and they're handier than the little 5" channel locks as they open to over an inch. Cheers Darren! Zip~
You can send him your pair. Can't be sending more money out of the country at a time like this.
Says the man using his China made phone or China made computer to type this comment....lmao. I'd have a battle of wits with you over this, but it's obvious you're unarmed. Zip~
@@ZippoVarga my what? I've never owned a mobile phone in my entire life. I refurbish used computers too.
Hmm….all the important information we miss when Mustie speeds up the video, and sounds like Alvin the Chipmunk….lol
Good to have you back ;-)
Great video and good repairs. Another video on the back end hydraulics would be great!
Thank you for showing the whole transmission part after the shake-down test. There was a lot of good content there. Glad you're feeling better now too.
Yay, sundays are complete once again. Welcome back Mustie1 hope you’re feeling better!
you wired the headlights like my Christmas lights.
Yesss its Sunday such a great way to start the week! Coffee and a new Mustie video! So glad your doing better Mustie! Payers be with you and yours! good Morning/Evening to one and All!
So true
Its funny, I'm here in Stockholm Sweden and like the same thing that you do.
Let’s see your kobota on your channel and video please refuel it for me please thanks ☺️ keep updates coming up for me thanks 🙏
Nearly an hour and a half! We're being spoiled today!
sunday, and 1 hour 26 minute video! Nice! i just wanna let you know how glad i am you are back.
Woohoo, over 80 minutes of Mustie once again!
Wow that was really painful to watch. Maybe you should switch to decaf and just stick with lawnmowers.
Morning all!
Morning!
Morning from TN
Morning from AB Canada.
Morning from Woodstock Ontario Canada.
Great video as always, Mustie keep safe, keep well, keep em rolling, rolling, all the best to you Buddy
"When you have a welder, nothing needs to be bolted".....and I always thought that was what duct tape was for.....
cut a flute into your sacrificial bolt with your wiz wheel... works great for chasing threads...
Some of the comments here are GENIOUS ......
Mustie, will you number these video's? It's hard to find out which one is which!
Man you can literally fix anything.
you should be able to swap the hoses around on the loader control body to make it the same as your other one, great vid mate.
There is something quite pleasing about watching a silver long haired madman on a out of control kubota👍🇬🇧
dear mr stink nugget ! you told me last year it was to hot to work on the econo line truck . that fall/winter nothing !. so its fall once again . so are we going to see the econo line ?
Great episode Darren. Glad to have you back again. 🇺🇸🤝🇮🇪
'"Stay" chains for the tiller when used as counter weight if you can't find the hydraulic problem.
Hey Mustie1, I'm a subscriber and really enjoy all your videos. They inspire me to go fix my own stuff. I have a request. When it takes more than 1 video on 1 machine, I really appreciate when you put "pt. 1" or "pt. 2" in the title. When it is not there and there are 4 or 5 vids in a series, I can't tell where to start. Not important but I thought you'd like to know the end user experience. Ignore the trolls! Keep on posting! 👍
U should just run a bead of sealant on the seat trim where water might get in when lifted forward.
A lot of work that old Kubota needed, great video mustie1. 👍👍👍👍👍
We are blessed to have a Kubota of about the same timeframe. It's a damn fine piece of machinery. That little motor is a bulldog. Small, but tough.
Crazy,, overwhelming urge to pee at 1:23 WTH ?
If you cut a small groove up the length of the bolt it will basically make a tap
Please do a video, or at least an update with the basics, of how you fix that three point leak down. I have nearly the same tractor (L185DT) with a droopy three point. I have not torn into that issue yet, but I really need to do so. Your guidance on that job would be greatly appreciated.
Love all of your videos, but I have watched the Kubota episodes more intently. Keep it up, and glad you are back to health. My family got it back in November of 2020, and it really sucked.
Hay Mustie1, it's great to hear your voice has returned to it's natural sweet tones.🥴😁
please continue with the brake and 3 point hitch. very interesting
It's so great to see you up and chipper and sounding good and moving with lots of energy. All the best from Canada
Good stuff show us the rest please. Great job with the transmission.
Glad you are back and sounds like back to your old self from the sound of your voice - great video - you do have the magic!!!!!!
Hope you and the Misses are doing much better...
You can make a thread chaser out of a bolt by cutting a longitudinal line on one side of it. This gives sort of a cutting edge to the threads and gives a place for the crap that you clean out of the threads to go. Works really really well
So cool to see a Mustie 1 upload, you sound well again and the Mustie 1 laugh made my day. Now you have functioning Kubota siblings. Great job.
Tool Tip get a bolt and cut vertical lines in it just under the depth of the threads. clean up the threads. Instant TAP!!!!
Great video, glad your sounding better.
I'm in for another video on this, great job.
PLEASE let us have another video part about this great little tractor. It's really fun to watch and there is still definitely enough work to do to fill another good video. Thanks in advance.
Damn, you New Englanders are frugal…. you’d rather rewire headlights to be in series rather than spend $6 for a set of new bulbs. 😄
I thought he was being wasteful when he bought the new seat. All he needed to do was bolt on the old seat and put a couple sponges in the back pockets of his jeans.
Awesome job Mustie, so cool to rebuild a tractor. Keep it up, thanks for all the after footage, really nice sir.
The things on the side ofthe shift rails are shuttles, they keep you from shifting into two gears at once by alligning with grooves in the three shift rails in their neutral positions.
