The more I watch your videos the more I think Shotaro had more in common with Go Nagai than I thought.
Hey its you
@@xblade149 Yeah I watch Mercury Falcon.
It’s not much of a coincidence. Nagai’s career exists because of Ishinomori. Nagai wasn’t getting anywhere with his career when he started, until Ishinomori offered him an assistant job.
"Joe took it out by shooting it in the heart. Which all robots have, despite never being able to love."
He says, as Kikaider cries in android
You know it always disappointed me that 009 never crossed over with Kikaider in any way. At least from what I’m aware of. Seems like a missed opportunity to do so.
Holy fucking shit, the way you delivered that intro so quickly in that dead pan tone. Wow. I think my sides have reached the edge of the universe.
I love the added humor, it reminds me when you used to do abridged series!
"Named for my most prevalent fetish"
Bruh
Yeah I’m kinda wondering what he meant
Bro wth, this is one of my favorite animes and it deserves way more attention
It's way underrated
“Joe easliy takes out by shooting it in the heart. *Which all robots have despite never being able to love*”
*kikaider and astro boy watch this with shock*
7:44 Funny and kinda surprised about 006's name in English pronunciation.
In Japanese, his name is pronounced "Chanchanko" which is a vest-like traditional clothing.
As an example, the yellow vest worn by Kitaro from "Gegege no Kitaro" is a chanchanko.
I actually just watched Giant last night! As a Cyborg 009 fan, it was a little surreal hearing the name Jet Rink.
Love the bits of humor peppered into this, and it's especially cool hearing about what the initial pitch for the 2001 series was like. Looking forward to the assassins arc!
As a fireman, i can confirm that YES we can only arrest fire, not people. Unless they dont vote. In that case yes we can arrest both fire and people.
9:10 Staff Officer Black is called by this name only in the anime, his name in the manga is "ブラック補佐" (Burakku Hosa)
It's more a Toei fault than Toriyama
amazing analysis, I'm looking foward for part 2!
I'd never expected to hear Anata Dake No Mono, my very favorite song on a 009 video.
13:15 bro i almost died from choke-laughing at that while pulling a lungful of smoke, fantastic framing for that reveal!
Literally four seconds in and I'm already dying XD
>007 turns into a kangaroo
surprised the furries didnt find this
009 is one of my favorite anime
I would be equally ready to believe he was intentionally bucking the "black ppl cant swim" stereotype, but c'mon "Little Sambo" I don't think you need to be American to know that shit is insanely racist, lol.
My first manga was "Bio-Diver Xenon" by Masaomi Kanzaki (translated as "Heavy Metal Warrior Xenon" by Viz Media), which has a lot of the same themes & plot points. Thinking this series influenced him.
Keep up the good work
I wonder if Jet Links name could also be a reference to the Link Wrays song that shows up in west side.
There's a 4th wall breaking scene in the Conclusion: God's War manga where the cyborgs talk to Ishinomori and 001 yells at him for naming him Ivan Wisky then says "You named 003 after your favorite actress and 002's name is taken from a movie too."
So that's why I lean more towards it coming from Jett Rink but your theory is still on the table.
@@MercuryFalcon thnx falcon
I never knew about the stuff for cyborg 009 series I mean I like the 2001series as a kid so hearing about all this other stuff pretty interesting. ☺️
There's a stereotype that black people can't swin?? What??
Knife Fight Island...Let's Go!
As long as it’s not dick fight island
13:27&13:34 😤😤(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT GARFIELD BEING FAT AND UGLY?"
My name is J, soldat J
Hi.

I like the 2001 version and I still like it a lot. 😀👍
Me too
Me too, it's the one that made me appreciate the show, I never liked it as a kid, I grew up in the 80s, but the '01 version made it one of my favorite anime ever.
2:53 OMIGA!!! 😂
Fantastic work as always.I want to now what are your thoughts on the new Cyborg 009 conclusion arc that was penned by Ishimori's son?
Cyborg is in my opinion incredibily awkward, I mean, look at 002, he is the characterization of awkward 😅, yet it manages to be really entertaining and definitely very original, although I admit that as a kid I never liked it, my appreciation for the show began in my adult life and I now consider it one of the best anime ever.
0:01 - 0:04 "The first episode of 009 birth, named for my most prevalent fetish" WHAT? 😂
I was just about to comment the same thing 😂
To debunk the stereotype that Blacks can't swim: Ever heard of Eric the Eel?
Where is Knife Fight Island? I need to know
8:40 Wait, is there even this stereotype? "black people can swim"? Since when? Where?
Black people can't swim is a stereotype.
It's a very common stereotype
I just looked this up, RIP search history im probably on an fbi list now, and i thought it had something to do with slavery or something but... apparently over 58% of black children cant swim and even more black adults cant. For some reason. No article can agree as to why but, for some reason.. black people just dont like swimming i guess? It's weird and i had no idea it was a stereotype myself and assumed mucury was making a joke likewise he was in the rest of the video.
@@scatmanjohnfan22 Maybe it's a systemic issue? For example, most white children/adults know how to swing, most black children/adults don't. Most white children went to a school, private or public, that had a swimming pool and received swimming lessons at school, most black children didn't. Why? Because neighborhoods or cities with more black population received less education investment and worse schools.
It's not that blacks don't know how to swim is more that whites where taught how to.
@Panino Manino that's probably the case, but its still just so oddly specific considering segregation and being poor affects literally everything, and the stereotype thay somehow manifested was swimming, a relatively niche sport and something most people don't know how to do, or need to do, anyways
Ey yoo you can't come out the first 5 seconds like that my man
Do firemen arrest fires?
Nice retrospect but you need to work on your comedy a little bit
the world!!!
Where’s the next episode?
what's the clip at 2:59 ??
